These yearly OS releases are getting pretty corny. They promise a bunch of things in the spring, put out an incomplete and often buggy release in the fall, then gradually fill in the gaps over the following months. Why not just, you know, release it when it's actually ready?
Dare I say it? Following Google’s footsteps lately.

They also need to roll out dynamic island and always on for all iOS 16 devices with a notch.

Because they need a new release in September to support the new iPhones with new hardware and features (e.g., Dynamic Island, bigger cameras and new photo pipelines, etc.).

However, for those users who only want to get the complete set of features, Apple is allowing users to easily keep the previous OS until they’re ready.

Can’t believe one of the biggest features on iOS 16 is a battery percentage indicator lol

I mean I’m happy but Jesus Christ this is where we are now. A freaking battery percentage indicator is a big deal.
Yeah. It’s kind nuts from both sides. I personally couldn’t care less to see a number instead of a bar chart. In fact seeing the actual percentage gives me anxiety, but I understand that other people like to see the number. And from Apple’s side, I can’t believe it took them so long to bring the percentage back for those who want it.

All these things above are good but all I need right now is a properly functioning iPhone, iPad and Mac.
My lord, you complain about everything and don't give any specifics. This is just mindless Apple bashing for the sake of bashing.

Pretty much this. I get that everyone’s use case is different but I do not understand the point of stage manager.
So don't use it. Why bash a feature that others may find useful just because you don't? Not everyone has the ability to comprehend the use of a given feature. You don't even tell us why you don't understand it. Perhaps we could help you.

would be great if they brought stage manager to the fourth gen ipad air. Its A14 Bionic was faster than the Pro's A12X and A12Z.

If features are going to be delivered like that, i.e. when ready, then what's the point of annual iOS release?
I mentioned this before, I think Microsoft had it right with the Windows 10 updates, there were bi-annual feature releases and then regular bug fixes in between.

These operating systems and devices are too complex, a yearly update cycle is obviously too short now.

There was a time earlier in OS X lifecycle where the major updates came every two years. I saw no problem with that.

Really happy to know stage manager is supported on 2020 iPad Pros. Looking forward to using it.

Why not find a way to incorporate classical music into the music app? I've been hoping for something in the music app to link songs (like linking Speak to Me->Breathe) so that neither song would ever play on its own when shuffling. I think that feature along with a few different fields would make classical work fine in the regular music app.
Because the music app is horrid.

Apple Music Classical sounds good, it'd be nice to keep classical playlists separate from the rest of my playlists/saved albums.

Freeform looks interesting too, I had never heard of it. It kind of reminds me of an app called Sketch Pad I think it was, with a near infinite canvas, good for brainstorming.
I’m all for that. Maybe they could also come out with a Christmas music app as well. Nothing like “play my music“ during a summer party and have Bing Crosby’s White Christmas work it’s way in to the rotation. 🙄

Has the practice of gradually introducing new iOS features over the course of several months after the initial release always been a thing? It seems like it's more of a thing recently, but that may not be true.

Still not sold on Apple Classical, especially if it's an additional subscription (which it undoubtedly will be), but it will be worth testing to see if it can replace Qobuz for me.

Because my list of saved albums and songs of regular popular music is huge. And I would like to build a huge list of classical albums too. I guess this could be solved by having a dedicated "classical" tab in Apple Music, but who decides what is "classical"? Would that Prokofiev recording by the obscure Swedish music label know by itself to go into that tab? I wouldn't want to manually sort them.

Genre is irrelevant in a word that doesn’t care about curation or classification. Surely that’s obvious by now?

A dedicated tab for classical makes as much sense as one for EDM or K-Pop or Early 80s. A dedicated app makes even less sense.

Good curation and meta information, as well as a UI that supports, say organizing by LAST NAME or COMPOSER makes way more sense. Don’t hold your breath.

Slow down there buckaroo. No part of my post “bashed” it. I didn’t say that I don’t understand it … I said I don’t understand the point of it.
