Dang! that's alot of features. The majority of the features should have been released with iOS 16.0 tho. But perfecting it takes time so I get it. Get it done the right way.
What can be observed is that the wrong ways of today were the right ways of yesterday, and the right ways of today will be the wrong ways of tomorrow. There would have been much less agony in the world if there had been more patience to just watch the magical process of change that everything in life in the here and now is.

Looking forward to Freeform!
Me too. A lot of these canvas/brainstorming apps from third-party developers have come and gone over the years, but having a first-party one from Apple is great news because it's guaranteed to be supported for the long term.

I find it weird... or at least unwise... that every June they announce all the new features of the upcoming iOS release.... and yet in reality you only get a subset of features on "launch day" in September.

This never used to be the case.....

But over the last couple of years.... its become the norm. For example in iOS15 we had to wait a whole 9 months (6 months after the September .0 release) before continuity was released.

And now, with iOS16 we have quite a lot of features (the most ever?) that didnt make the cut for 16.0. In fact as we all know now iPadOS16 was pulled completely and we have to wait for 16.1 to get the first iteration of the iPad software - again this is a first. We are used nowadays for MacOS to be delayed from the iOS release - which in itself is annoying as many features go hand in hand with iOS - but this has happened with iPadOS this year too.

Things are slipping.

Make you wonder whether they are being too ambitious in the June announcements now.

Personally, id be happier to skip a year and not release a major iOS update every september if it means that what we get is feature packed, and worth the wait.

The way its going now... you end up watching the presentation in June and then cynically thinking "yeah right.... but when will we actually get this feature.... .0? .1?, .2? .3 next year sometime?"

I wonder for many of these "missing" features in iOS16.... will we be waiting until March like continuity? If so... it does seem a little silly to announce June.... Release next March... then 3 months later announce the next version which you know full well now they wont release in full in September.

Freeform
Apple says it will be releasing a new digital whiteboard app called Freeform for the iPhone and iPad later this year. The app is described as a "flexible canvas" that will give users the "ability to see, share, and collaborate all in one place without worrying about layouts and page sizes," complete with full support for the Apple Pencil.

Does this mean that there will finally be support for the Apple Pencil on iPhone? Or just in the Freeform app?

Great. iOS will soon be perfect!!!!....... [just before iOS 17 is released]......

Absolutely no reason for shared photo libraries to be locked to the latest iOS/MacOS release.

I can see a lot of people getting locked out of their photo libraries on older devices because they've enabled it on their newer ones.

Because my list of saved albums and songs of regular popular music is huge. And I would like to build a huge list of classical albums too. I guess this could be solved by having a dedicated "classical" tab in Apple Music, but who decides what is "classical"? Would that Prokofiev recording by the obscure Swedish music label know by itself to go into that tab? I wouldn't want to manually sort them.
I see your point but I'd rather it just be part of Apple Music, just for neatness sake.

Can’t believe one of the biggest features on iOS 16 is a battery percentage indicator lol

I mean I’m happy but Jesus Christ this is where we are now. A freaking battery percentage indicator is a big deal.

And we still can’t just put an icon on the screen in the place where we want it.

Why not find a way to incorporate classical music into the music app? I've been hoping for something in the music app to link songs (like linking Speak to Me->Breathe) so that neither song would ever play on its own when shuffling. I think that feature along with a few different fields would make classical work fine in the regular music app.
It's been rumored they're doing exactly this.
