In tech, things move fast (yep, like italics fast). Unless you're in the 1%, I always recommend getting the most entry-level device that will do what you need done today. Buying tech for "the future" is dumb. The future arrivers way faster than expected and it's probably not what you expected. As a bonus, it comes increasingly bloated software that requires the newest hardware in order to run. I learned this the hard way with my first Mac purchase. Fresh out of art school - aka: broke af - I financed the absolute top-of-the-line PowerMac G4 (graphite), matching display, scanner (ha - yep), ProTools hardware/software, etc. Something to the tune of ~$7k. When I instantly establishing my creative studio (which was actually pretty great) it also instantly put me in an even deeper hole. By the time that was paid off, my config was so dated. Since then, I have taken a far different approach to tech purchases - as mentioned above. Obviously, YMMV.
Plus, the next best thing is always around the corner. I've known people that wait and wait and then die having not taken any action. Life is precious and fleeting. Do things. Today.
