Has anyone gotten a2dp audio controls to work? Meaning skip, previous etc. I only have one device to test with so not sure if its an iPhone bug or incompatibility with the setup I have.

I have tried both of my headsets and they do not do any of the command functions either. After connecting the headset to the iPhone, I have to still open up the iPod and manually select play then choose the headset. It is not auto engaging....yet? Lets hope that this is a bug and is fixable with an update or two.

In Maps, if you enter a partial address (like just a street name) it now asks "Did you mean?" and provides a list box of options. Nice!

Thanks for the confirmation. I submitted a bug to Apple.

Anyone else notice that they changed the keyboard? All the letters are now slightly inset into the keys. Also, some of the keys don't show shadows when you click them for some reason. Also, when you hold down a key that has more characters, the pop-up doesn't have a shadow.

NF#4 PROFILES[/COLOR][/B]-Has been added, this shows Beta testers how many profiles they have on their iPhone for each app they are testing.

Hi you mentioned profiles in your post. Will this allow to have profiles(Home, office, car etc.) now? Like we have in any regular phone.

Thanks

Good Morning All: Today I have updated Calendar; Contacts; Calculator; Maps; Photos and Camera. I have also created a list of Apps that do and do not work with the 3.0 beta.

By the way... To restore the icons in the original locations without manually moving them all around just do this:

Restore your backup and wait for iTunes to copy a of your apps over in alphabetical order.

Then right click your iPhone in iTunes and choose "Restore from Backup" and restore from the backup you chose the first time. Since the apps are already installed, they'll go right back in place.

Spaz...Thank you for the information. I had already reset everything manually by the time you posted but will do a double restore on the next update if it happens again. I have removed that comment from my review.

That's most likely the same thing Mail.app has, which is that (if you turn that off) it no longer automatically loads images in HTML emails; if you leave it on, you can help the spammers know which addresses are real by looking at their web logs.

Thank you for the information. I will update the front page with this info. I would never have known as I do not have a Mac.

Sorry for the misunderstanding...The "Profiles" section lists the AdHoc profiles associated with the specific app that you are beta testing. Selecting it gives you the option to delete and review the Received/Expiration date and gives you a verification. There are no edit options to add profiles and is not tied to anything that I think you were seeking....sorry.

In the CURRENT Google Maps App that comes pre-installed on the iPhone, there is no TxT. That will be an option available with the SDK...meaning that it can be developed but is not on the current Beta 3.0 update. The only difference on Google Maps that I have seen so far is when you lift the page you will now see a Map, Satellite, Hybrid, and List choice. The Satellite view is a birds eye view withOUT street names.

Will post more as it is discovered.

Both the "did u mean?" and "map, sat, hybrid, list" were there before 3.0. What about google latitude? Any mentions? What version of google maps resides in this version of iPhone 3.0 beta? Thanks.

This is a *great* thread and deserves a sticky! Keep up the awesome work for all of us!!

Sorry, had already fixed and updated in the main post. This quote has now been removed. The other poster will need to clarify his post for you.

Guys, just remember this is the 1st version of the BETA.

It will be buggy as hell, so any 'Removed features' might just be bugs.

e) NF#7 MESSAGES added to the menu. Allows user to select with ON/OFF choices-Show Preview, Repeat Alert, MMS Messaging, Show Subject Field

Forgive me if this has been discussed elsewhere (as it probably has, but there's just so much info out about 3.0, it's hard to keep track of it all!!) but, does this mean that we can turn of SMS Preview so that even when the iPhone isn't locked, the message isn't shown?

Hey, I thought the maps had Turn by Turn...like in the Apple video, Google Maps had areas and a speedometer and stuff. Where's that?
Just to clarify further, that was just a mockup. Apple stated that because of licensing issues, they can't allow turn by turn in the Maps app or allow other turn by turn apps to use the Google Maps API. That's why they stated turn by turn is BYOM (Bring Your Own Maps).

Go back and listen as well as watch.

Its an API thats been included in the new 3.0 SDK, enabling 3rd party to developers to apply Turn by Turn directions to their own custom Maps Applications.

Sadly, it will not be included in Apples own Maps app, which will probably make the Maps app completely useless very soon.

Its got to be the stupidest "licensing issue" I've heard so far this year. " We Can't Use Turn by Turn, You Can't Use Google Maps."

...wt..?

I found a new feature within copy and paste.

A two-finger tap will select one whole line of text... kind of like triple-clicking with a mouse.

Cool!

Awesome post! Here's my list of apps that have worked and haven't:

Working: Tweetie, 1Password, TapTap Revenge 2, Big Bang Sudoku, Enigmo, Brightkite, Cro-Mag, Koi Pond, Cube Runner, Mint.com, Shazam, Remote, Evernote, K-Love Radio, Lightsaber, Lux Touch, Pandora, TipTap, Translator, WhatTheFont, Air Sharing

Buggy: Geocaching (Cache pages sometimes won't let you scroll), Facebook (photos), Ocarina (lots of bugs. Never used on 2.2.1, so not sure if it was buggy there too.)

Not working: Zenbe, YouTube

New features: *cough* Spotlight, Search in Apps, Copy & Paste, MMS (on 3G), Forwarding/Delete individual messages... Or are you going after non-big NFs?

Bugs: In contacts on original iPhone, still an option to MMS, however it won't send. Same with location in Maps.

Todays Update

Good Afternoon All,

Todays front page updates include CalDAV, Notes, Clock, Weather, Voice Memo, and Spotlight. Please feel free to continue adding your discoveries and I will move to the front page. Give your test results and if you found bugs or things that are not user friendly.

Forgive me if this has been discussed elsewhere (as it probably has, but there's just so much info out about 3.0, it's hard to keep track of it all!!) but, does this mean that we can turn of SMS Preview so that even when the iPhone isn't locked, the message isn't shown?

Boston...I turned "Show Preview" both ON and OFF multiple times and had my wife send SMS messages. At all times while the phone was in sleep mode the text opened its preview window. I believe that this is a but otherwise why would they have that option. I believe by the time you get the full functioning update that you will have a choice to turn preview off and it will give you an audible warning only.

Spaz...would you please consolidate all of your Keyboard findings into one post and I will put them on the front in a Keyboard Category. Thank you.

Keyboard changes:

1: Much less lag. It feels a lot smoother.
2: They are now using a slightly more condensed font and it looks slightly sharper too.
3: The pop-up letters in landscape mode are fatter.
4: I noticed today that the keyboard makes less mistakes and I think I figured out why. The keyboard doesn't seem to block certain letters anymore based on prediction of what you're going to type. For example... In previous versions, you could be typing "theyre" and it would simply not allow you to type that last "e" because "theyre" is not a word. Anyways, I hope that makes sense. Hehe.
5: The keys in landscape mode are wider and fit closer together with gaps between them similar to the portrait keyboard.

Spaz...Thank you for the information. I had already reset everything manually by the time you posted but will do a double restore on the next update if it happens again. I have removed that comment from my review.
Funny, I explained this to you in post #12, three days ago:
That's because when you restored, there were no apps currently installed, therefore, nothing to arrange. Try restoring, then syncing, then restoring again. ;)
Maybe if you hadn't been so quick to accuse me of 'trying to turn this into a negative thread' you would've caught it.

You can now take lockscreen screenshots without any issues. Just the same way as you would a normal screenshot (power+home). :D

You can do that on 2.2.1 as well.
haha whoops sorry, I had skipped 2.2.1 completely cause it didn't offer enough, so I seemed new to me

EDIT: on the lockscreen when playing music the title of the song is in a smaller, cleaner looking font. Also, when you double-tap home it now shows the album and artist name as well as the title on the lock screen

2 things I found, 1 good and 1 bad:

iTunes now has a "30 second rewind" button, but as far as I can tell it only shows up on my video podcasts (and only in portrait mode)

The other is that my contacts seem to be totally screwed up. I can no longer use the slider to move through the alphabet. And the alphabetical order is messed up. It starts w/ "A's" and after each letter is another "group" with a heading of "#" instead of "B", and continues throughout the alphabet. The "#" group is typically the next letter in the alphabet, so it's really screwy. I also cannot "search" for any contact under any of the "#" categories....anyone else have this issue?

They fixed the iPod app so now you can swipe to the right on an album cover while the playback indicator is up and return to the previous menu.
