Morning all, Today is my final BATTERY test update and I let it go for 21 hours. My satisfaction in this test is that I have normal battery life with everything I keep on and that is: iPhone Edge (No 3G here); WiFi, Location Service, 1 hr. Fetch Gmail (no being pushed to my phone); Bluetooth and a Brightness of 75%/Auto.

My biggest discovery lies in the third party apps and I learned a very valuable lesson. Understand that this is a 3.0 beta test and that each app is designed to work with 2.2.1 so there will be issues. What I learned was, if your phone starts acting out of the norm...it is probably a 3rd party app. We have very new programmers out there that do not know better or have not learned the finer things in programming and some things are not caught by apple. Apps that cause crashing or if your battery starts acting totally different...remove the last few apps you installed and see which one is the culprit. If you have problems now...even on 2.2.1...remove all the apps and start loading one at a time...one of them is probably the problem. If you find an app that causes problems...notify the developer and send him the crash logs if you can. Help them learn and make their product better which makes your iPhone better.

I will continue to update this thread as new discoveries are made but it will not be a daily update. I figure we are at over 30 new features...maybe a dozen or so that we consider moved or changed that apple considers a new feature and another 50 that are not here yet or not active or is internal. The next beta upadate may show us more. Please keep posting and I will try to keep this thread toward the front of the forum.

Mods if you could sticky this until the release of 3.0, it may help others. I can also change the title if a better one is recommended.

Thanks again to everyone participating!!!

Thats basically what I did and it worked. Again, I cleared all pages, quit Safari, relaunch, yada yada..

- Hold it in landscape while looking at bookmarks (mine does not rotate at this point)

-Touch bookmark. As the page starts to load, mine rotates to landscape.

Before I figured this out, I tried toggling "Block popups" off, then back on. Might have had something to do with it, might not.

Hope you can get this to work.

I did play with it some more and found the same thing. Closed all pages turned to landscape then opened web page and it worked. Bad news when you rotate back it stays in landscape. Definite major rotation bug that needs to be reported.

SFC Archer,
Thank you very much for all this information. Have you found iany applications in particular that are memory hungry or just acting up. Im just wondering if we could start maybe a list? Below are my apps installed and I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. Also are the options I have set on my phone to enhance battery for the time being while testing on 3.0.

Facebook
Tweetie
FacePhone
BeerPong
FreeMemory
Sportacular

Also, I have keyboard clicks, lock sounds, wifi, and location services are all off at the moment. I am also doing a memory clear using free memory every couple of hours. Using this method I haven't had to restart in about 20 hours. I hope this helps anyone. Again thanks for starting this thread and all the valuable information you have contributed.

Spotlight: Can also navigate to it by clicking Home button when on home screen, or double-clicking when on non-home screen.

I don't have 3.0, but doesn't the double clicking of the home button the same as in 2.2.1. In other words you can change around where you want the double click to take you. Or did they get rid of that and now it takes you to spotlight?

Settings > General no longer appears to have a Home Button option.

No, the double clicking executes your shortcut as it always has. What he's referring to is one click to take you to your first page of apps and the second takes you to the spotlight feature. If done quickly, it will open up your favorites (or whatever you may have set it to do).

If you look at the bottom of post 1 above the battery tests...I have listed apps that are good and the two that were big problems and why. I am still testing apps one at a time for at least 6 hours, results will be posted there.

This was posted in Post 1 under HOME. It still works like it does in 2.2.1 but has two additional options...see post 1

But with the Home Button option gone, I'm not sure how we can change that setting.

It is not gone...just renamed. It is now "Settings", "General", "Home" There you will see 5 choices now instead of 3 for the Dble Click

Well, it's gone on my iPod touch! There is no Home option under General.

Hmmm...I do not have the Touch so can anyone with 3.0 on a Touch confirm for Dejo? It may be a Touch bug as the software is basically the same for both.

True, but there were four firmware files available: iPhone 3G, iPhone, iPod touch (2nd generation), and iPod touch (1st generation).

Mine is a 1st gen iPod touch, by the way.

Volunteer Needed

I am looking for someone with a Developer account to help me out. I do not have a developer account: 1) Because Apple will not let me develope apps on my PC and 2) I do not own a Mac. If they would let me develop apps on a PC I would have already purchased the Dev Accnt.

I am being sponsored by Developers who I Beta Apps for and cannot post any of my bugs that are in Post 1 or that I have found. The Bug reporter will not open for me even though I have the free 2.2.1 account.

What I am asking is for a Developer that can report bugs...to take my bugs off of the 1st post and make sure they are reported. I really would love to do it myself but they won't give me access. I will give any other details needed for reporting. I think all of you can see that I want to help, that I do truly beta test and that my only handicap is the Apple policy against PC users.

Either post or PM me if you are willing to help me help get these 3.0 bugs posted. Thank YOU!

Type me out what you want reported and I will copy/paste it and report it. I just want to make sure I report it correctly since you have obviously done a lot of testing, which by the way I for one really appreciate.

Thank you...I will type up a bunch of them in Word and then just email them to you. If you need clarification on anything just let me know. I just wish they would give me access and quit being so tight.

Could anyone confirm for me -

a) does the new YouTube interface allow you to sort search results by date uploaded rather than just "most relevant"?

b) Does the settings menu allow for more than one APN? O2 require a second APN for MMS, but it may well be hidden away in the carrier file. That'd be annoying, because I'd quite like to use a different DNS server as O2's is cack.

Ta muchly.

I am going to hold on the bug report now that Beta 2 3.0 has been released. I will do a comparison of old bugs to this version and see what has been fixed, then send you a copy.

Just waiting for my developer to send me the new update.

Thanks again for the offer to help!!!

Can you check to see if the background can have a picture instead of the black screen?

Are you referring to the Home Screen springboard???

If so...then no you can not change anything on the springboard other then still moving the apps around. If not, please clarify...thank you.

Thank You for the compliment!
