I know, maybe you bought an iPhone in the past and it was close to $1000 so this isn't a big deal for you. Or maybe you can justify any price for an iPhone because it's the one gadget you use day in and day out.

But I gotta be honest, it absolutely sucks that the X starts at $1000.

I'm a veteran iPhone user like probably many of you. My history is 3G to 4 to 5 to 6 Plus to 7 to 6S Plus. And yes, I'm going to buy the X if I can get my hands on it during pre-orders.

But man, this just sucks. Samsung S8 retails for $750 and it's just a shame the X doesn't start at the price or at least closer to it. I know, there are other iPhone's if I really must upgrade. But I don't want those. I want the X.

The only way I can justify this X purchase is knowing that I will upgrade after 12 months. This way I can avoid paying $200 for AppleCare+ (side note....$200 now!??!?!), and in the end I'll end up paying $500 (ugh) to lease the X for 12 months.

But still, this sucks. And I know, no one is forcing me to upgrade, but I want to. And I'm sure many of you feel the same way as me. The mere fact that the iPhone model I truly want now starts at $1000 bothers me greatly.

iPhone 8 is the new generation iPhone, and it's priced about the same as previous ones. iPhone X is the NEXT GEN iPhone, launched 10 months early. Apple is giving you the option of paying extra to try the future device right now. No need to pay the extra $$ unless you want to, but don't hate on people who are willing to pay.

Buy the iPhone 8 and enjoy it. It's a great phone!

Who cares? No one is forcing me or you to get the iPhone X. As a 6s+ owner, I was going to just keep my 6s+ until I found that I could upgrade to the 8+ with the iUP plan for $119 and... so I did. Am I looking forward to the 8+? Yes. Do I need the 8+? No. But I'm going to enjoy it.

I don't miss the X at all and although my 8+ 256GB was almost $1200.... I personally thought the X was a little too expensive. Sure the difference is a few hundred and sure I could afford it but ... already the $1200 of the 8+ is a bit much but for something I use quite frequently, will do my best to keep for 2+ years ... I see it as worth it.

Why does it suck? I could find enough old tech in my house to ebay off to pay for the difference... or a few side jobs (computer jobs) that could probably pay for the whole phone if I really wanted. I'll agree with you though, these phones are getting a bit expensive. :p

The S8 "retails for $750" - go get one if it's such a good deal, case closed. It's got hardware performance that's less than half as good, chins on the top and bottom, ANDROID, and a camera that isn't as good. I'm sure it's a good phone, but it's rightfully not a $1000 phone.

Lately, I don't think i'm even worried about the hardwares as much as the software.

Why do you have to be too rational in regards to buying a phone? you're using too much logic.... :)

Note 8 is $930. And all they do is copy other people’s hard work.
Like Apple copied wireless charging and an oled screen. I won't mention face ID since they did an original design of it. What other phone has an S-pen? From where was it copied?

The Note 8 and iPhone 8/X are all great phones, so why the need to continually bash the other brand?

At least it's almost guaranteed that next year's X successor will be cheaper, making the X for those who can afford to fuel development. Apple designed it to be the most useful phone and not primarily affordable. They could well have called it the iPhone Pro and gotten less short term criticism, but that wouldn’t have made sense unless they developed something like an 8 plus for next year.
