What other phone has an S-pen? From where was it copied?

Apple Newton. :D

The S8 "retails for $750" - go get one if it's such a good deal, case closed. It's got hardware performance that's less than half as good, chins on the top and bottom, ANDROID, and a camera that isn't as good. I'm sure it's a good phone, but it's rightfully not a $1000 phone.

You're way off. The S8's hardware performance is not less than half as good. The A11 is an amazing chip, and is definitely faster than the SD 835, but it's not less than half as good. In real world performance, for most tasks, you'll see a slight speed bump on the iPhone. For the most part, the difference is pretty minor.

The 'chins' on the top and bottom are there....it still doesn't stop the S8 from having a higher screen to body ratio than the X. There are literally NO side bezels on the S8, vs. the X's rather ample ones. Sure, the bottom bezel is smaller on the X. The top is roughly the same, given that most of the top of the X is taken up with the notch. As far as full screen design, the S8 also has more functional use of the space, since the iPhone X's gestures mean that the bottom of the screen is continually taken up by the bar that allows you to close the app, and the ears on the top of the screen are just status bar, or are blocked off, making it effectively useless space. Usable space, the S8 has a distinct edge.

Camera? Well, the S8 camera is better than the 7 camera, and while the X might be better, it is also certainly not a guarantee.

Oh, and Android is pretty damn good right now, if you haven't used it recently. It was a janky mess in the early days, but it's a LOT more polished now, and offers considerably more freedom.

In all, I think they're pretty close phones, except one is $300 cheaper.

Well said. Now that Google just bought HTC, imagine what will be coming soon. I can’t wait and prices are gonna be amazing on Googles new HTC/Google phones.

I know, maybe you bought an iPhone in the past and it was close to $1000 so this isn't a big deal for you. Or maybe you can justify any price for an iPhone because it's the one gadget you use day in and day out.

But I gotta be honest, it absolutely sucks that the X starts at $1000.

I'm a veteran iPhone user like probably many of you. My history is 3G to 4 to 5 to 6 Plus to 7 to 6S Plus. And yes, I'm going to buy the X if I can get my hands on it during pre-orders.

But man, this just sucks. Samsung S8 retails for $750 and it's just a shame the X doesn't start at the price or at least closer to it. I know, there are other iPhone's if I really must upgrade. But I don't want those. I want the X.

The only way I can justify this X purchase is knowing that I will upgrade after 12 months. This way I can avoid paying $200 for AppleCare+ (side note....$200 now!??!?!), and in the end I'll end up paying $500 (ugh) to lease the X for 12 months.

But still, this sucks. And I know, no one is forcing me to upgrade, but I want to. And I'm sure many of you feel the same way as me. The mere fact that the iPhone model I truly want now starts at $1000 bothers me greatly.

You know your going to ante up and pay it. So just stop.

K. One test, in an area that has always been strong for Apple. If you're exporting 4K video all day long, then obviously you should get the X. Thing is, people don't do this all day long.

There's no doubt it's faster. Thing is, I don't want for speed on my phone....it's blazingly fast in day to day tasks. The A11 will be 'faster'. And 3 years from now it'll probably hold up a lot better. No doubt. But let's not pretend that one video test (with no information at all on which app/apps were used to encode) is the end all be all test. All the other benchmarks put it around 50% faster, which is a big jump to be sure, but it's not the 100%+ that you are claiming overall.

Wow, you are so rich, you can afford a $1000 item. What a baller :D
Just because one can afford it doesn't mean theyre willing to spend their money on it.

I love iPhones and have had all of them so why stop now? No good reason to.

I mean - at this rate you're going to see a year's worth of these tests come in with similar results. This was TG's preliminary testing and they promised a full gamut of tests to come. The bets are off when Ars gets their review out.

10 seconds to fully load Injustice 2 - a heavy binary - on the A11. 19 seconds to do the same on the Snapdragon. Real world tasks are shaping up to be at minimum 2x faster on iOS and the A11 compared to flagship Android hardware. Dealing with 4K video, launching apps, 2x GPU performance over the S8 and Note 8 - that's more than enough for me already.

I mean, if performance alone is worth the cost, more power to you. The A11 is an incredible chip.

I am buying two iPhone X 256! this doesn't mean that I have $2500 just laying around collecting dust. I do the yearly upgrade with ATT right now I am paying $37 a month for my 7 plus with the X 256gb I will be paying $45 dollars a month which is only 8 dollars extra a month. not much of a difference

Read your post again and figure it out.
People that refuse to buy it it's not just because they can't afford it.
Glad that you can more than afford it since we all just want it so bad but we cannot pay for it:)

Well if you or anyone can't afford it on a payment plan than the govt offers a free phone program lol jk

Lol :D
You still don't get it or just trying to talk down to people that are not interested in buying whatever you're purchasing.
Maybe consumers don't want a payment plan or to pay in general for an iPhone x.

I'm just talking down to you because you are the only one who seems fixated on what I'm saying lol.

''24 months plan'', ''see the costs of the X over the course of <insert years here> is just about $2 a day'', ''with my yearly upgrade I know just pay 2 or 3 buck a month extra''

This is all over macrumors forum.

Loads of people try to sound a $ 1300 phone like its ''just a few bucks a day''.

In my world $1300 for a phone is still $1300 for a phone, in every single way you try to sound like its actually less and/or a bargain ('bargain' is still the funniest word I keep on reading here and there...)

I agree that it is way too expensive BUT Apple being a public company has its first right to its shareholders and you can’t blame them for raising prices and increasing profits which is their main function. If enough consumers don’t pay for it, prices come down.. but if they sell like hot cakes then kudos to Apple for recognizing that people will pay anything for their smartphone.

Exactly. Even Tim Cook called the 1000 dollar iPhone a “value.” I’ll decide what a value is with my money.
