Exactly. Even Tim Cook called the 1000 dollar iPhone a “value.” I’ll decide what a value is with my money.
Apple needs to recover the millions it paid Samsung for the OLED Screens and Apple needs to profit from you and me. This is what we pay for when Apple doesn't know how to be innovative.
Then explain the $1000 price tag?Just because Apple doesn't staff an entire display manufacturing business doesn't mean they're not innovative. Samsung is an industrial supplier of lots of things that are separate from their phone business. OLED displays are one of them.
What other phone charges lots of money for a stylus.?Like Apple copied wireless charging and an oled screen. I won't mention face ID since they did an original design of it. What other phone has an S-pen? From where was it copied?
The Note 8 and iPhone 8/X are all great phones, so why the need to continually bash the other brand?
The S8 has a sensor filled bezel at the top of the screen to go along with the digital sensors right under it on the screen with a 835 chip that’s slower then an A10 chip with an 1 year old operating system on it. Android provides Google the opportunity to market your information as a product. You're way off. The S8's hardware performance is not less than half as good. The A11 is an amazing chip, and is definitely faster than the SD 835, but it's not less than half as good. In real world performance, for most tasks, you'll see a slight speed bump on the iPhone. For the most part, the difference is pretty minor.
The 'chins' on the top and bottom are there....it still doesn't stop the S8 from having a higher screen to body ratio than the X. There are literally NO side bezels on the S8, vs. the X's rather ample ones. Sure, the bottom bezel is smaller on the X. The top is roughly the same, given that most of the top of the X is taken up with the notch. As far as full screen design, the S8 also has more functional use of the space, since the iPhone X's gestures mean that the bottom of the screen is continually taken up by the bar that allows you to close the app, and the ears on the top of the screen are just status bar, or are blocked off, making it effectively useless space. Usable space, the S8 has a distinct edge.
Camera? Well, the S8 camera is better than the 7 camera, and while the X might be better, it is also certainly not a guarantee.
Oh, and Android is pretty damn good right now, if you haven't used it recently. It was a janky mess in the early days, but it's a LOT more polished now, and offers considerably more freedom.
In all, I think they're pretty close phones, except one is $300 cheaper.
If Samesung was making loads of money, they wouldn’t need to manufacture parts for everybody else. Samsung is the only manufacturer of quality AMOled screens.Apple needs to recover the millions it paid Samsung for the OLED Screens and Apple needs to profit from you and me. This is what we pay for when Apple doesn't know how to be innovative.
When I was at apple no joke, a couple tried to buy iPhones and have their gov't free flip phones SIM cards placed into the iPhone but of course the size wasn't compatible and there was no way for us to transfer the # as the gov't has some weird provider.Well if you or anyone can't afford it on a payment plan than the govt offers a free phone program lol jk![]()
I know, maybe you bought an iPhone in the past and it was close to $1000 so this isn't a big deal for you. Or maybe you can justify any price for an iPhone because it's the one gadget you use day in and day out.
But I gotta be honest, it absolutely sucks that the X starts at $1000.
I'm a veteran iPhone user like probably many of you. My history is 3G to 4 to 5 to 6 Plus to 7 to 6S Plus. And yes, I'm going to buy the X if I can get my hands on it during pre-orders.
But man, this just sucks. Samsung S8 retails for $750 and it's just a shame the X doesn't start at the price or at least closer to it. I know, there are other iPhone's if I really must upgrade. But I don't want those. I want the X.
The only way I can justify this X purchase is knowing that I will upgrade after 12 months. This way I can avoid paying $200 for AppleCare+ (side note....$200 now!??!?!), and in the end I'll end up paying $500 (ugh) to lease the X for 12 months.
But still, this sucks. And I know, no one is forcing me to upgrade, but I want to. And I'm sure many of you feel the same way as me. The mere fact that the iPhone model I truly want now starts at $1000 bothers me greatly.
Then explain the $1000 price tag?
£1000 is actually ridiculous. And because so many people are (seemingly) willing to fork it out, Apple will most likely price all of its future phones the same way. And I used to think paying £550 in 2015 for my 6S was expensive.![]()
The Consumer should purchase what they can afford, not what they .
The consumer should get what they need and afford.
I can't understand why someone would get an X 256gb if they are equally served by a 7 32gb, even if they can afford it.
All phones do the same thing, they make and receive calls as their primary roles, so the consumer can purchase based on what they can afford with various iPhone tier options. But somebody mainly wants the iPhone X because of the latest technology and features, that's not a need, that's a want. So the consumer should ask themselves and justify the price point for a $1000 iPhone, is that equivalent to what they can afford or is that just a superficial need. I'm guessing the latter.
The S8 "retails for $750" - go get one if it's such a good deal, case closed. It's got hardware performance that's less than half as good, chins on the top and bottom, ANDROID, and a camera that isn't as good. I'm sure it's a good phone, but it's rightfully not a $1000 phone.
The consumer should get what they need and afford.
