My hope is that the new phone will be ...

Yeah, who knows ... but we've now seen that Apple is OK with fragmentation so that supposed anniversary edition may be a 3rd option which will come with a matching anniversary edition price tag.

Who here is waiting for iPhone's 10th anniversary next year instead? iPhone 7s? No more Home button? Wireless charging?;)

Apple would rather sell us 3 iphones with 1 new feature rather than 1 iPhone with 3 new features.

I think people are dreaming that Apple is going to give us this magical iPhone next year with all these new features because it's a "special" year. Apple doesn't operate that way.

Secondly, Apple is a prisoner of its own profit margins. They added a 2nd camera to the 7+ this year and the price went up by $20.00. Can you imagine what a ceramic glass, wireless charging, 4GB ram, edge to edge display, touch ID under the glass type of iPhone would cost?

Im predicting the 2017 iPhone will have a new case material (probably ceramic since they are field testing that material with the new Apple watch they announced) and possibly OLED screen.

Apple has been trying to engineer true wireless charging but have been having issues. I don't seem them taking the charging pad/puck route like others.

I am just hoping bordeless design because its way to go in order to have smaller phone and better ratio size/screen
And also expecting good design, i am not huge fan of iPhone 6/6S/7 design at all
My dream iPhone, iPhone SE with larger screen size, 4'7 but smaller phone size than iPhone 6/7

Well I'll get the 256GB model next year so that along with all the rumoured upgrades will be my incentive to upgrade. For this year I'll enjoy my 128GB 7 plus.

I'm going to guess they go with something like iPhoneX to only partially ditch the numbered system (and by extension, only partially confuse people). The 7 is really more of a 6ss anyway.

But I'll wait with the 7. I'll be eligible to upgrade in a year anyway.

Is the screen on the Apple Watch that much better than the iPhone 7?

I'm asking because most people don't realize that the difference between OLED and ips is minimal. Saturation levels and brightness levels often plays a larger role when you view a phone display on the show floor. But that does not translate to better day to day use.

I will use my iPhone 7 Plus, which I have on pre-order. Then when next years are announced, I'll sell my 7 Plus and then buy the new one.

based on the leaks i wasn't going to get the 7. now that it's out, i still don't think i'll get it. my 6 works perfect and I'm off of the 2yr contract so a little cheaper monthly bill. not too impressed with the minor bump in features. i'll hang onto it for another year and see what comes next year. I actually would have liked the space gray option this year.

although at&t's deal right now with a free iP7 is pretty tempting to take advantage of.

I'll wait and use either my HTC 10 or my Galaxy S7 Edge. I'll dump one of them IF Apple upgrades the screen resolution. I can live with a 4.7 inch, but not with 720P resolution. Ridiculous.

I'm waiting. Tired of the old design. Does anyone else think they'll skip numbers and call it the iPhone X (10)? I'm leaning towards this because they won't call a total redesign an iPhone 7S. And iPhone 8 doesn't sound glamorous enough for the ten year anniversary. Apple won't pass up an opportunity to cash in on the hype. They'll say, "This is the biggest, boldest update an iPhone history."

I look forward to this phone in a big way. Smartphones are mature, and it is hard to differentiate on features. But design is important. Apple has design chops. I want to see what they can do.

But I am not waiting. iPhone 7 en route. And I've learned to never hold my breath on Apple. Consumer desires and dreams seem to have little to do at insular, detached Apple.

I think you're right.

2018 at the earliest.

In the meantime they could add SmartConnector next year for things like their battery case, and let third parties offer optional magnetic inductive charging, without jumping into that area directly.

I'm in the same boat. Paid-off 6 working wonderfully with iOS 10. Also have a mini 4 I use everyday. Frankly...I'm fine. The temptation is a real struggle, especially with this new AT&T deal for a trade-in, but I worry about it on the other side - this deal spreads that $650 credit across two years, and if I'm ready for the 10th anniversary iPhone, I'll be on the hook for the rest of that iPhone 7 payments, THEN buy the new one either in full or installment plan. Feels a lot like kicking the can down the road vs. a good deal for that reason.

Like some have said, I'll wait while using the 7+. :)

If you're 'waiting' while you have a 7/+, it really isn't waiting at all.

You've bought into the hype, already.

And that's fine if you did, just don't pat yourself on the back.

Same goes for all ip7/+ owners.
