Is it not just possible that we don't actually know what the 7 will be like in terms of features because they haven't leaked (yet) maybe as we get closer to September we will see more and more leaks (like the 6S). At the moment what we think we know is:

No headphone jack
6S like design
Dual camera (for 5.5" or iPhone Pro)

None of that says much about the features of the 7, even the 6S had some good stuff, 3D Touch, 4K video, 12 MP camera, so it's only natural to assume that the 7 will carry on from that.

Regarding the capacities, I do believe the iPhone 7 PRO will start at 32GB simply because the iPad Pro's start at 32GB. The iPhone 7 however might still remain at 16GB base storage.

I'm skipping this year's phone because I just got the SE. So I'll get the 2017 device.
How do you like it? I'm considering that phone too since I gave my guy the 6s and iWatch.

Right now I'm using an S6 Edge. Will probably flip and get a new phone eventually. Just don't know if it'll be the iPhone 7 or if I'll jump to the SE shortly.

This is Apple we're talking about. They still ship phones starting at 16GB. Heck, up until recently they still sold the 5c with 8GB. My coworker has one because she didn't consider herself a power user and is literally running out of space every five seconds. She spent an hour yesterday afternoon trying to clear off space so she could snap some photos of her kid at some event at his school that evening. She cleared off space, goes to take the photos, but the space had somehow filled itself again and she missed some great shots. What makes you think in two years they'll be starting at 64GB? We've been stuck at 16GB base since the iPhone 5 in 2012. Don't get me wrong, I would love that, but let's be realistic here. We'll be lucky to see 32GB this autumn. And for all we know, this will be an iPhone Pro that starts at $749. Yikes!

Buying the base model of anything is always problematical. Unless money/price is absolutely critical...get the next step up ie. the middle tier.

Happened with the iPad 2 I bought (bought the 32gb)...and do will do the same (at the very least) on the next iPad I buy.

Where did people get the idea that Apple will do, or even care, that it's the iPhone's 10th anniversary, and that it thus means an amazing redesign and be the phone of everyone's dreams?

Going by history, next year's phone will be the 7S, and be virtually indistinguishable from this year's 7.

"This is the iPhone's 10th Anniversary, and because that apparently means something, we decided this was the perfect time to give the iPhone massive updates and features, despite the fact that it's an 'S' year. But hey, this 10th Anniversary thing, subjective and arbitrary, vapid and frivolous as it may be, seemed as if it was the perfect justification to upend a functional and proven business model when it comes to the release of iPhones."

- Tim Cook.

Huh?

Ten years is a huge milestone, though. I'd be more surprised if Apple just acted like it was an ordinary year. Nobody thought that the iPhone would be around ten years in the future when it first launched. The very early rumours support that there might be some big changes next year, too. Of course only time will tell, but I'm happy to hold out just in case :)

I LOVE IT. This was my favourite design so I couldn't resist.

I haven't sold the 6S Plus. I won't. This is on my third line.

Predicting what will happen in 2017 is pointless. By the phone based on what the features are when you're ready.

I don't think the 7 will have many new features...but again, anything can happen.

Well that's the problem here. Many people just assume that they're light users because they're not very tech saavy and don't need the "fancy" model. The grandmas of the world. Then they buy the cheap model to stay in touch with her kids and grandkids, because social security is never enough, and boom, they run out of space because the bar is set way too low, even for light users.

If Apple bumps the base storage, no way would it 64gb!

Best you could hope for would be 32gb. And I think 2017 is more likely.

While 2016 will mark a minor update, 2017 will bring major changes to the iPhone in celebration of the device's 10th anniversary. Citing sources "familiar with the matter,"The Wall Street Journal suggests features could include an edge-to-edge OLED display with built-in Touch ID fingerprint support to allow Apple to eliminate the home button.

Apple is said to be deviating from its standard tick-tock upgrade cycle in order to introduce major new features in the 2017 iPhone, which take time to develop.
At a meeting with an Apple executive last month, one of the company's China-based engineers asked why this year's model lacked a major design change in keeping with Apple's usual two-year cycle. The answer, one person at the meeting recalled, was that the new technology in the pipeline will take time to implement.

People familiar with the matter said some features that Apple hopes to integrate into iPhones, such as curved screens, weren't ready for this year's models. It is not known if Apple is permanently moving away from introducing new designs on an every-other-year basis, or if the 2016-2017 shift is a temporary one.

While The Wall Street Journal's report confirms the removal of the headphone jack in the next-generation iPhone, it makes no mention of other feature improvements that are expected, including a larger camera sensor in the iPhone 7 and a dual-camera setup in the iPhone 7 Plus.

Looks like I'm skipping this years iPhone even though my iPhone 6 up for the upgrade.

I believe Apple will make enough changes to iPhone 7 to keep people happy.

However, I also believe the 10th Anniversry phone is going to be the phone to wait for, if you're choosing between the 2.

There's plenty to speculate about the 10th Anniverary phone, but we won't have any idea where they're going until we've seen what's in store for iPhone 7.

I'm on a 6+. I am doing my best to hold off for the 10th Anniversary phone.

If Apple launches iPhone 7 starting at 16GB storage, I'm gonna lose my mind, though. Lol just saying... its ridiculous.

Nope. My iPhone 7+ is on order and should be here well before the end of the month. The important thing now is the Mac refresh to Kaby Lake CPUs and AMD Polaris GPUs. Hopefully we hear and see that in October.

Who here is waiting for iPhone's 10th anniversary next year instead? iPhone 7s? No more Home button? Wireless charging?;)

Honestly I'm not sure it will be ready for 2017 maybe 2018. I believe Apple dosent do a rush product just because it's the 10th anniversary. No waiting for me :) if it comes out I will buy it.

IPhone 7 didn't rech to my expectation no wireless Charing no bump in screen resolution (forget about oled) no fast charging same old design with minor changes in the Shell, doesn't seems a decent upgrade from my current iPhone 6s plus (maybe just for older models) and now the biggest fear comes in my mind is that maybe we are not going to see a all new design till 2018 and 2017 will be the S year with internal improvements.so who want a all new designed iPhone maybe have to wait for atleast two more years

Every year is an incremental spec bump. You will be perpetually waiting if you are waiting for the best.

Features that make it the biggest and best update for YOU are merely because YOU find value in those features. So the iPhone 7S might be worth waiting for...for you, and it might be the best ever...for you. But many will find it to be another incremental update.

Its bad business to withhold features and specs simply for something as arbitrary as the date and time. That stuff is generally used for marketing.. "10 year anniversary edition model! The best iPhone ever!"

There are certain business models that work on a release time line to maximize profits, and I'm sure Apple does this to some extent (Intel would be a good example, why make a processor now that they can make 10 years from now and sell you spec bumps for 10 years until then?) but if they knew they could add something that blows away the competition now then they would use it now.

Pretty sure I'll buy a new phone in 2017...just not 100% sure it will be Apple.

For starters, I dropped my 6s last week (fell on carpet) and developed a spider crack of the bottom right corner...bad luck, go figure.

Secondly, I am eligible for a subsidized phone again in late September 2017 and because my monthly bill won't be discounted once the 2-year commitment is up, so I might as well get it.

My hope is that the new phone will be oled...but I have doubts that Apple will rollout oled for the 4.7" size the same year as the larger phones. (We might have to wait till 2018.)

At the same time, I really want my next phone to have oled so that means maybe that I go Samsung next year.

Possibly a hard choice looming next year, depending on what Apple announces.
