Well lets just saw I think you've made you point by posting relentlessly about your, lets face it, relatively minor problems. Sorry you don't like your new computer, why don't you get your Pro and give us all a break from the complaining?

Why don't you just put me on ignore if you don't care about my opinions? It is much simpler than replying to me to plus you don't have to read what I have to say. It is very simple also. I'm sure a smart guy like you can figure it out.

Minor problems? OK I guess some people have no standards. I guess buying a $1600 laptop and expecting it to have a screen better than a Walmart Dell is just a minor complaint.

I would be pretty pissed about dead pixels. Did you try to return it based on that?

Are the dents and scratches caused by you, or did the machine come that way? If it is the latter, then you should get a free replacement, but if it is the former, then you should get used to it...my old Powerbook had all kinds of dents and scratches.

Apple service is great. Im not complaining about that, but its more of the out of box experience. Dead pixels and dents/scratches should not be there. They were out of box too! I keep my stuff mint. I admit I like things just right, but those would be my negatives. Still LOVE the computer though.

Well the display can't be fixed by just tweaking display settings. It is THE major issue. I've had enough love for this thing to try that before I came to the conclusion the display sucks. Period. Bad & Hard.

If you go to the washed out display & post your calibration threads you'd see the lengths some people have gone to to make it a workable machine.

is the display really that bad? I havent noticed why?

I don't know how you're not understanding this: that is not a defect. If everyone else's screens were perfect and yours was terrible, yes, you'd have a gripe. However, you were fully able to look these computers over I assume, and/or read reports on MacRumors before your purchase. Just because one element of the machine doesn't meet your exacting specifications doesn't mean that it's a manufacturing defect.

It appears you only joined MR to complain, which I've certainly done my fair share of over the years on here, but please just realize that not everyone shares your obviously distaste for and anger towards these new machines.

You don't want to wade through all my 20 posts b/c it is a waste of time(you ask me a question--I told you how to find the answer--next time don't ask), but you would spend sometime making a post to me about how I'm being whiny. Grow up. I know you probably don't want people to be critical of the new one b/c you probably own it and it is sooo special, but it has a lot of problems. A lot more than you just stated and it has been discussed on here and on Apple.com. Call it whiny all you want. I call it shotty work by Apple. I guess I don't like spending $1600 on a crappy machine that has a screen that is worse than my friends $600 Walmart Dell. It is going back and I'm getting a Pro. Keep your crapbook, bud, but don't make it seem like it is more than it is.

I don't need your validation to know that I have a quality product. I'm sorry you had bad luck with yours, but you are simply part of an overly vocal minority. The thing about it is, you typically don't have people making posts like this one, where they are satisfied with their purchase. The people that make posts are the ones that have some sort of defect, so a 5% defect rates seems to look like a 90% defect rate.

I think most of your problems are either whiny or self inflicted, and the others are happily solved by Apple providing a replacement. Instead of taking advantage of good customer service, you would rather come over here and make clever nicknames for their products ("crapbook"...top notch humor there).

BTW, which one of us do you think is the bigger fanboy? I have purchased 3 Macs and 2 iPods in the last 6 years (iBook G3 replaced by Powerbook G4, Powermac MDD, and new Macbook; original 10 GB iPod, and 3rd Gen 20 GB iPod). You are complaining because your 2.4 GHz Macbook isn't blowing the pants off of your 2.4 GHz Blackbook. There's a real shocker.

I found that when you used the background that is found in the Apple stores, you notice the white out effect. But whet you open up a website like MacRumors, you dont notice any color issues.

So for me, I am not expecting to have any color issues 95% of the time that I am using my soon to own mac.

Where did I state everyone should have my opinions of the crapbook? I hear the new owners of this one make themselves feel good about their purchase by ragging on the last gen Macbooks. I think that is funny b/c it shows a lack of confidence in their new purchase. Kind of like a man talking a lot about his manhood all the time to compensate for its small size.

Everyone can have their own opinions. I just shared mine and will continue to do so. I know it might piss off the new Macbook owners, but oh well I will post my opinions about it. By the looks of it a lot of people are having problems with it on this forum. Plus the Apple guy told me the same thing, so it isn't just me.

Alright well you've obviously had a productive 3 days here. By all means, please continue to extol the benefits of our old GreaseBooks (can't believe you didn't return it when you noticed fingerprints the first time!), but maybe in the future you could stick to threads where people are actually complaining? This was supposed to be the happy owners thread!

You guys need to take a basic reading comprehension class. I never said I need to validate your purchase of the crapbook. Plus the name crapbook isn't anymore insulting or humorous than crackbook others say about the previous Macbook. I honestly feel Apple made a crappy product with this one and I hope they revisit it very soon. I'm sure they will.

I haven't even really complained that this one is not that much faster than my blackbook. Once again reading comprehension. That was a minor point I made.

Right...I guess I should dwell on your "major" points...such as a loud space bar.

I showed the major issues with me especially with the blackness or lack of blackness of the screen. The space bar was a minor issue I would of accepted. All of those things I mentioned added up I won't accept.

Yes. HAPPY OWNERS! Not pissed off ex-owners. Leave my thread you nay-sayers. XD

hehe :)

I saw a list of 5 issues that you considered major, and contributing to your return of the Macbook. Unless otherwise stated, the reader must assign equal importance to each issue. In that case, my interpretation that the loud space bar was just as major an issue for you as the supposedly crappy black levels in the display is an entirely valid representation of what you WROTE. Now, whether or not you wrote what you meant is another story.

You seem to spend your whole life copy and pasting your tedious endless complaints in every thread. Sure not all the new macbooks are going to be completely perfect, but thats what you should expect when your buying a first revision product. Its pretty simply if your macbook has a defect then go and take it to be replaced. Of coarse you should express your opinion but theres no need for you to waste your time repeatedly saying the same thing over again. To me your just seem like a bitter person who just likes to complain all the time.

And before you start calling it the 'crapbook' again please rember that some people have spent a long time saving up for this machine, and shouldnt have to come onto threads to have you constantly insult their choice.

For all you happy owners I've snapped a pic of a very close representation of what Apple says you see on their MB page. If you guys see what they have and not what I'm showing, I'd be happy too!! Ummm, all that blue/gray should be black:rolleyes::

In all honesty some people call the previous Macbook, the crackbook and I'm sure a number of people saved up and worked hard for that one also. That is insulting to them also. I guess fair is fair. Heck the OP is the one who showed no class by bashing the last gen Macbook in his first post. If you are going to complain about this then be fair about it. The bashing has been going on both sides.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Both sides of what though, im not condoning any bashing of the previous generation. Just how that particular forum user acts. Just because people have called the previous generation 'crapbook' doesnt mean its ok to do.

I just found it funny you criticized her for using the term "crapbook" to describe a laptop she owns, but didn't say anything about the OP bashing the previous gen Macbook. I just feel both gen of Macbooks are awesome. There is no need to bash either one. I can see her point though that the new Macbook owner are quick to bash the older ones. Maybe it is a way to make them feel good about their purchase or whatever. They shouldn't have to do that, it is a nice machine overall.

I just felt theres a completely different tone in what they said. I personally found Macjean's tone pretty bitter and the Ops good humoured. And yes of coarse both are good machines.

If that's the angle you regularly view your laptop from, you've got bigger problems.

I felt the girl was funny by using the term crapbook and felt the OP was insulting to people who owned the previous Macbook by calling them suckers. You own the new one and I own the blackbook. See how it can be viewed by 2 different people who own different computers? Both were wrong, but you seem to be justifying it in one case, but condemning it in another. All I'm saying is be evenhanded about it or don't say anything at all.
