NC MacGuy says that's not the point genius.

I realize thats not the point, no need to call names. The point is though that the OP started this thread to say how completely satisfied with his Macbook and some people feel the need to crap on this thread by pointing out flaws that have all ready been recognized MANY times in MANY other threads. Your argument is moot.

I felt the girl was funny by using the term crapbook and felt the OP was insulting to people who owned the previous Macbook by calling them suckers. You own the new one and I own the blackbook. See how it can be viewed by 2 different people who own different computers? Both were wrong, but you seem to be justifying it in one case, but condemning it in another. All I'm saying is be evenhanded about it or don't say anything at all.

Well I actually own a whitebook but am thinking of buying a new macbook. And i didnt find any of the OP's comments insulting. At the end of the day what should you expect to see when going into a thread about the new macbooks. Whats the point of going into a thread for happy new macbook owners and continuesly insult them.

Actually the OP was saying how great the new MB is and I was bringing up the point of the bad display panels. I know if I'd read what he's saying before I bought and got what I got I'd be pretty bloody pissed. At least that's what I read at 110% satisfied. I was 110% satisfied too for about three or four days and after the glow is over, I started actually using the machine.

At least I have one and can say I put my money where my criticism is.

Once again you are condemning someone for pointing out the flaws she sees and the name she refers it as, but have no problem with the OP saying people who have or buy the previous gen are suckers (I'm sure that is insulting to those who busted their butts saving for one). You are quick to condemn those you disagree with, but won't condemn those who you agree with. Once again I say be fair or don't call anyone out.

the screen on the new macbook sux, plain and simple

people should not waste their breath arguing that it doesn't suck

and yes, it is inferior to most cheap windows laptops

however, you have to ask yourself what are your options?

you are basically paying extra for a good OS and a good implementation of that OS in a notebook

bottom line you are not going to be able to work as efficiently on a windows notebook due to the implementation of osx on the macbook

so some people may say sure, but I am going to buy the mbp and people that bought the mb are wasting money

I disagree, I bought the new macbook for the size and weight

sure, the screen isn't as good as the mbp, but it works just fine

computers are tools in my world and my macbook serves its purpose just like it should

even though I will admit the price for the tool was a bit higher than I like to pay :)

Sorry to cut-in, but it seems I'm a little late to the party.

I bought the base (2.0GHz) aluminum MacBook a week ago and I too am 100% happy with it. Sure, the screen is not the same quality as what's in the Air and the Pro, but c'mon -- I think it looks just great, although I'm not about to go looking for problems. My previous iBook G4 lasted me five years of daily use without a single problem, ever, and this new MacBook runs circles around it in terms of performance. :apple:

thoz are great points

I couldn't agree more!

I think others should look at the big picture

What they need

not what others do

Not to be a smart---, but your old one is 5 yrs old and I hope the new one you got is much faster and better. Don't you think that is to be expected after 5 years? Heck how fast technology is in a few months Apple will have a better performing one out. Technology is funny that way.

Congrats on your purchase. It is a nice laptop.

That wasn't meant to be taken in a personal way. I am aware that people still own plastic computers, that they will exist til the end of time and that they are a common thing. I was merely trying to suggest that metal casings offer a higher stability in construction, and did so in way true to my personality. It is just a lighthearted review... read everything with a note of joking sarcasm-- and then upgrade to a metal cased macbook, sucker. ;D hehe

In all seriousness though, I had the blackbook for 2 years, and it was/is still a very quality system. However, in comparison to my new system, I am now able to see some flaws that really were troublesome during that last few months of ownership. The graphics were a little unpowered but that did not stop me from logging 50 days played time on WoW and using Photoshop and Illustrator. Two years from now, the same will be able to be said about this system... Aside from the physical construction which seems to be spot on. Unibody is def more solid than the squeaky multii-piece plastic case of my blackbook-- not hateful opinion, but fact, watch the keynote, Steve has my back. haha

Ummm, that is one reason I'm a bit upset with my new MB. There's a crummy beat up HP here that's four years old and its display is much better after four years near nonstop use than the brand new 1.5 week old latest technology MB. The MB is so perfect in nearly all ways that I'm shocked Apple would have hobbled it so much with an utter crap panel.

Unfortunately Apple has everyone buying their stuff and saying that's the way it is & I like it instead of returning or complaining about what is real. I have a feeling that the panel will have a quite replacement or deny and quietly upgrade newer ones off the assembly line. There's no way that everyone is this blind to accept total crap. Or are they??

I'm sure Apple will do what you just said. They will quietly upgrade the Macbook's later on. They have done that in the past with the Macbooks and other items they make. It always pisses off those who bought the earlier ones and I don't blame them.

I like the new ones except for the lack of FW (I use it a lot) and the blacks keys (personal choice) I think it is really nice. I will upgrade my black Macbook next year when Snow Leopard and the new intel processor comes out (hopefully they will by the end of next year). By then hopefully Apple has fixed the screen problems. My friend is also complaining about his new Macbook screen.

I'm still at a loss trying to understand why you are posting what you're posting on this thread. Clearly the OP started a thread to share how happy he is with his new macbook. You and others are like sharks, instantly attracted to the first drop of blood, or in this case, satisfaction. I swear it borders on pathological. There are literally dozens of threads in which you can complain 'till you're blue in the face, but the one titled "110% satisfied" reaches 4 pages of bitching. That makes no sense to me.

anyone is free to post anywhere. i think its ignorant to think that anything is perfect. We all love macs (obviously as we are a part of this forum) but personally I want to hear all opinions no matter what the thread title is.

Clearly you set very high standards for yourself and others. Perhaps the consumer-level MacBook was never intended for someone as demanding as yourself. You would probably be much happier with a MacBook Pro.

Clearly anyone is free to post anywhere, this is not an issue of restriction. But just because you can piss on your neighbors lawn, doesn't mean you should do it. There are dozens of threads wherein you can make an informed decision based on both the good and the bad. I just think that when a guy posts a thread talking about how satisfied he is with his purchase, it's a little vindictive for 10 others to post replies telling him he shouldn't be as satisfied as he is. It's just plain mean.

I am such a pro... I just wanted to watch the Iron Man DVD - hardly a pro feature. Not Aperture, Photoshop or anything truly demanding of a display.

High standards? I think not.

Another bit of information for you is I've been an owner of three other MB's and never, ever complained about their display. They were okay and usable - as is my MB is as long as you don't try and view anything dark with highlights. Why upgrade to the NVIDIA GPU and not the display?

Useable for MR just fine but for $1600, I think Apple owes its patrons a little bit more.

I'm extremely happy with my WhiteBook (2.4GHZ, 2GB RAM, 160 HDD)

The plastic enclosure was never a problem for me thank god, and Speck sent me a plastic cover to review which i LOVE, barely added weight or thickness, keeps the MacBook looking good, and most importantly, the computer doesn't get damaged.

I don't know why everyone is hating on the Macbook display. The macbook is positioned as an entry level notebook for Apple. Of course it will not have the same display as the MBA or MBP as those two computers have a higher pricepoint than the macbooks.

If you look at the last gen MB as compared to the new MBs, the displays are roughly the same. The newer generation has a brighter screen.

If you want firewire and a better screen - go with the Pro. Simple as that.

Now shut up already and just enjoy your machine. If blacks aren't truly black, life still goes on.

A smaller viewing angle is also better for use on the airplane as prying eyes will have a harder time reading the documents on your screen etc. So there may be an underlying benefit afterall.

Just quit crying like little schoolgirls already. If you hate the screen, then return the product. End of story. There are many customers who have bought the new macbooks who have no complaints. For example, jon4lakers who is a tech guru on youtube loves his new 2.4 macbook and he came from a MBP. That should give everyone some perpsective.

^^I'm one of those people who are satisfied with their mb. I do recognize the display issue, but it doesn't bother me that much. I use my mb for school. If I wanted to watch a video or movie, I'd be doing it on my main PC with a 24" screen or my home theater. The mb does exactly what I expected it to: serve as a secondary computer. If I wanted a primary computer, I'd invest the extra money in getting the pro since it's larger and has more inputs.
