The lockout is over and with the return of football comes the return of the MR NFL Fantasy Football League.

This will be year three and if you are curious you can see how much fun we have had during the past two seasons.

1. mscriv (commissioner) - in for 2011
2. wvuwhat - in for 2011
3. maflynn - out for 2011, replaced by Jaffa Cake

If you would like to play again this year then I need you to post "up in here" (cue DMX) to reserve your spot in the 2011 league.

I will give our veterans a chance to reclaim their spot, but if I don't hear from you then I will be allowing new members and one person has already PM'd me to reserve a place in line. So, if you have not played with us before or just missed the cut last year and would like a spot in 2011 then post your interest (first come first serve)*.

If you look at the previous two years you will see that we run a fun and active league here. Please do not sign up if you don't have the time to commit to managing your team. This thread here is used for routine updates, trash talking, and all around general league fun. I run a fair league with fair rules and most, if not all, potential issues are handled before the league starts by gathering everyone's input. (For example, how to handle ties, etc.)

So, let me know if you have any questions and let's get this thing going.

* I'm considering running two leagues if we have enough interest. We'll have to see how it works out.

I thought about you from all the sports comments I see you making. I'm glad to see you're interested and we'll just see how things shape up. At a minimum I run 8 team leagues so depending on sign ups we very well could have enough for more than one league. If not then you're #2 on the sign up list. Stay tuned....

Maflynn is unable to play this year. His spot has been filled by Jaffa Cake.

Moyank24 has the next spot in line followed by Rick Snagwell.

What kind of champion would I be if I didn't defend the title?! :cool:

As far as two leagues goes, the more the merrier. We just need to set out the rules on how to compare League Champs to determine a true MR Champ.

You know I'm in. 3rd year in a row.
 
I'm pretty sure that if we have enough I will be willing to run a second league. We will have to make a new thread for that league as all of the fun in playing in a MR league is the trash talking and stuff that goes along with the thread. I always make the leagues public so anyone who isn't playing, but wants to follow along can do so. But, let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet as there are still four veterans who have yet to claim their spots.
 
I do think it would be cool if someone who is graphically skilled could make up an avatar sized trophy of some MR flavor that could be bestowed upon the winner at the end of the season. That way they could "wear their win" as an avatar whenever they wanted. It also could generate more interest across the community. I don't know, kinda like, when the site hosts contests and they give someone a ribbon or acknowledgment by their avatar.

Some of you may have never played fantasy sports in a forum setting like this, but I think it's really fun. It's about the community and the interaction between those in the league and, to me, a forum is a much easier way to do this as opposed to just communicating through the host site (ESPN, FOX, etc.). I'm sure some of our veteran players could chime in with their own thoughts in this area.
