First of all, DigiTimes has proven time, and time again that is not reliable in the slightest.
but secondly, we‘ve known.
we get it, the iPad‘s are coming in March. You’ve reported on it over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.
same with the iMac Pro discontinuation, we get it. It was discontinued. No need to run an article every time it goes out of stock, and then goes back into stock. just update the old articles.
The iPad Pro is coming in March, and the iMac Pro is being discontinued.
if you didn’t know by the several articles they’ve ran about it.
what’s next, you’re gonna tell me the iPhones are launching in the fall? That’s crazy talk
LOL! Also this year they are removing the lightning cable and box. Make sure to bring your own bag to the Apple Store. Need to maximize profit.

You’re on a website that specifically focuses on Apple news. What else do you expect?
So why the need to repeat ”Apple“ 5 times in a sentence.. in an article about Apple.. on a website about Apple? I agree with previous guy - the readers are not dumb. New articles about old stuff, verbose and redundant writing style just gets really annoying on MR. Ok, so I can go on some other Apple news site, ‘cept they’re just as bad. Why not just write smart MR?

Why not just OLED and be done with it. Not like Apple has ever been concerned with saving us money...
While OLED has perfect black level with great color, uniformity, motion, and viewing angle, it also has some significant downsides: just so so brightness, permanent image retention (burn in), and pulse width modulation (PWM) artifacts when scrolling.

While mini LED does not have perfect black level (e.g., blooming artifact), it is nevertheless still very good and it can get much brighter than OLED without burn in risk and PWM artifacts. Its main downsides are limited viewing angle (not a big factor for iPad and MacBook) and uneven uniformity.

For tasks like watching video, OLED is often the way to go. It also helps that OLED is a lot thinner, which helps with ultra portable device like the iPhone.

But for productivity and reading oriented apps, mini LED is probably the best overall compromise until micro LED comes along.

As I type this on my iPhone, My iPad Air 2 stares at me from across the kitchen island. It has no idea how much I’m looking forward to replacing it with the iPad Pro.

Soon, it will be passed down to my children where it will spend its waking moments playing “Henry Danger” and “A Series of Unfortunate Events” on a constant loop.

It is oblivious to its fate. And I am giddy with anticipation.

ipad still feels like a consumer device so the iPadOS remains simple to ape iOS sadly. They will still sell millions.
Obviously niche, but I’d have preferred iPadOS to have been limited to the pros. At least it’s diverging (extremely slowly mind) from iOS, but as long as the standard ‘entry’ iPad runs iPadOS, it’s still going to held back in some ways 😒

I for one wouldn't be OLED iPad. I consider Mini LED to be superior to OLED. OLED is just too troublesome with too many issues for just a little benefit. Mini LED can get very close to deep blacks (its just a matter of how many zones they use - the more the better it is) and its tech that has been almost perfected unlike OLED that has too many issues.

So no, it won't be outdated by OLED. It will be outdated by Micro-LED but that is still years away. (When it comes to screen of course)

Why not transition directly to OLED? Making consumers wasting time and money on a product that will soon be OUTDATED...

DeerEatingPopcorn.gif Keep goin'! 😄

Reminds me of the next Pixar 'Story': iStory, the secret lives of our beloved devices. Kinda like a contemporary 'Brave Little Toaster'.

What confuses me is that we’ve seen reliable leaks saying that an OLED model will come next year, so it’s not as though Apple’s against using OLED in tablets. It looks like the miniLED phase is temporary. Is there really a point in switching to a new technology just as a one year stop-gap?
Who said those were reliable?

Apple has been planning to move to mini-LED backlighting for iPad and Mac displays for several years. There has NEVER been a single credible rumor about OLED. There was ONE recent report that said something about OLED next year and it is in no way credible.

iPad Pros are USB-C. You will get the same charger and USBC cable as MB Air. And I usually don't take my MBPs or iPads home in an Apple bag. The last thing I need is another bag cluttering my closet.

I'd love to replace my 2017 10.5" iPad Pro.... with an 2021 11". You 12.9s can have your micro LEDs. I'd just like an A14X.
I'm in the same boat. The reason I dread buying a new iPad is the cost of the accessories. Why is keyboard case $300? Why is the pencil $100?

The M1 Macs are so reasonably priced. Why is the iPad so freaking expensive?
