How many percent of your battery power is lost at night? I am losing about 10-15% (8-9 hours). In statistics, no applications work at this time. I have one physical sim card and an additional e-sim. It is normal for this phone? I was doing recovery from icloud after buying a phone. Maybe i should set up my phone like new?

When did you do the recovery? It's not unusual to see higher battery use if it's a recent recovery (<2 days) due to indexing

About 10 days.

Do people not use their phones during the day/night and charge it over night?
I usually charge my phone at night. This night i did not charge to check the battery consumption without using.

I usually go to bed and use airplane mode to save battery (if it’s not charging)

I would consider 10% overnight drain to be on average normal. If you have two cellular plans activated that may cause more battery drain.

Do you have background refresh? Turning on low power mode will temporarily disable background refresh which will save some battery

10-15% loss during the night seems reasonable - especially as the battery is optimizing for a few weeks and apps are catching up.....

I have had a strange experience today with my 12 Mini.

The nights are strange. I wanted to test how everything effects battery life.
First night the device lost 6% in airplane mode. But it was the first day owning it.
Second night it lost nothing in airplane mode. Charged it to 100% and it stayed there till the morning.
But today was very strange. I thought I would leave it on to try it out, stable 2-3 bar LTE reception, nothing else turned on, no BT, 5G, WLAN, background sync always off etc. Silent mode. Only received 5 notifications from my air quality station at home. But that was it. Haven't used it overnight. Battery usage shows nothing the whole night.

It lost 27%!!!! 27% for about 5 notifications with stable LTE? The battery usage doesn't show me anything. No draining in background etc. Battery usage 0min the whole night for display on and off. WTF! That never happened before. With my 11 last week it lost around 5% with same settings but fewer notifications.

This is not just a 12 Pro related thing I think. I have almost the exact setup on my 11 Pro and it used to lose about 2-3% overnight on iOS 13 but now it’s losing over 10% every night.

There is no such thing. It might stay 10-15% for life. That has been the case with my 11 Pro as well. Some devices some more, some less. Depends on the exact piece. Every piece of hardware is different.

10-15% nightly drain without any background app activity is not acceptable at all. If you loose 15% during the night (8 hours) you would loose 45% per day just idling. I can't find the numbers for the iPhone 12, but if you look here: https://www.apple.com/se/iphone/battery.html the standby time for iPhone 7 Plus is 15 days and the iPhone SE (First gen) is 10 days.

There are lot's of people experiencing this drain issue, se the Apple Forums thread here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251956914

Something is definitely wrong and I'm hoping it's a software issue that Apple will fix soon!

mine also drained the last two nights always to around 83 % from 100% and when I check it shows "home screen" and "Siri" randomly using battery throughout the night.

iPhone 12 Pro Max, set up as new

So, on the back of my previous post. I’ve managed to figure out the culprit for my battery drain. It was the exposure notification function. Turned it off and my battery life is back to where it was before. Hardly any drainage overnight.

There is definitely something going on here, I lost over 20% from about 11 last night till six this morning. I already shut off the exposure notifications because I had noticed that was draining the battery at night, but when I checked today there were no apps being used overnight. I wonder if it could have something to do with the exposure setting even though I shut it off.

So about my usage on my 12 Mini, I use my phone without anything turned on, except mobile data. If I need GPS, BT, Wifi etc. I turn it on and off again when not used anymore. No background sync, no push, no covid, no nothing because I don't need and use it, and only a few notifications turned on.

All nights, besides the first night, in complete airplane mode I lost 0% over night which is perfect actually.

One night NO Airplane mode but only mobile data turned on, 2-3 bars LTE, and receiving around 6 notifications from an air quality device app I lost 27% which is ridiculous!

One night in Airplane Mode but with 5GHZ Wifi turned on, Router not far away, and 0 notifications I lost 8% which I think is bad too.

So something is definitely going on in the background but I have no idea what it is as battery usage shows nothing, maximum 1min lock screen usage in an hour.
8% in one night with only Wifi turned on and 0 notifications is bad. And 0% lost during a night in airplane mode is the opposite, perfect!!!

I’m averaging a loss of about 10-15% every night (around 7 hours). The battery app reports no activity at all during this time. The drain seems to be similar during the day, around a 2% loss every hour at idle, but it’s not as easy to measure since I’m using the phone on and off during the day.

I’ve had this issue since I got my iPhone 12. Tried a full dfu reset through iTunes but it didn’t help at all. Using a single e-sim, and 5G is disabled (I’m in a non 5G area).

Turned off exposure notification when I noticed it was top 5 in the energy list. Had Covid already not getting much out of the house.

I also wonder, my experience is similar. 0% loss with airplane mode, which is quite surprising and great, but in standby with only wifi, during the day, with most background refresh and location services off, seems to consistently lose what I feel is too much battery, around 2 to 4% per hour... No idea why, no activity registered.

If background refresh is not off for everything & you’re constantly not in good signal area then that seems normal.

Mine lost over 10% over night again 🙄 I have background refresh completely off, no push on emails, most location services are disabled, so is Siri and it’s still draining. It’s also a fresh install from when I received the device, therefore no old crap that could be causing it. The battery report also shows nothing as running throughout the night. Very strange.

Oh and both sims have full coverage (5G disabled)

I consider a 2 to 4% drain per hour in standby totally unacceptable, no matter the coverage. I mean during a 24 hour period that’s a battery loss of 48 to 96% for just standby. And most of us suffering this issue has no reported background activity in the battery app so it’s not any “regular” app activity causing this.

Poor signal is one of the biggest battery drainer actually since the phone constantly tried to cling on to the network.

Well in my case I’m experiencing this drain at home. Other iPhones and my old Android drains around 1-2% per night. So if this is due to bad reception the fault must lie in either the iPhone 12 modem or antenna.

Indeed. I travel a lot, and during travel through low signal and good signal areas I lost definitely 30-40% more on my iPhone 11 than being in the city the whole day. Even when using it less. So signal is a big thing but only when you really have low coverage.

This in a screenshot of the battery consumption this night on my iPhone 12. It went from 69% -> 56%, a 13% loss between around 23:50 and 07:00. At the same time my wifes iPhone SE (First gen) dropped 1% and my work Android, two years old also only lost 1%. And I have NOTHING running in the background on my iPhone 12.
