I also noticed this last night on my 12 Pro Max. Losing about ~6% battery overnight with Airplane Mode enabled meaning no connections whatsoever. I don’t think this is normal at all :(

Do you have location services on? If so, do any of the apps have access? Do you have 5G completely turned off?

It certainly could be a bug.
I do have location services on. However everything is set to “While using” and like I said there is no usage reported in the battery app during the night or on standby during the day. While checking now I noticed there is something called “System services” under location services, and under that everything is enabled. I’m guessing usage from these “System services” might not be visible as usage in the battery app. I’ll try to disable all location services tonight and see whether it helps.

And 5G is disabled since I’m in a non-5G area.

Have you tried a new clean install ?

I really don't get it. Tonight in airplane mode I lost 5%, nothing turned on, everything off like always. Normally it was 0% the last times with my 12 Mini, one time 1-2%, other iPhones 1-2%. Battery settings show nothing, not even lock screen. Nothing during the night. And it lost 5%. Slowly I am getting frustrated. And after turning only LTE on and checking 2min I lost 2%. WTF.

I have almost only used it during work and it did better than expected because of the circumstances. But if standby time is really that bad, that could be a dealbreaker. I am not exactly sure if the 0% loss during night in airplane mode was before the 14.2.1 update but I am pretty positive it was. So maybe this update is the reason. Please all write to Apple. I do it too. The more they know the better.

Tonight I will test LTE with everything else off again. Normal reception, not bad, not perfect. Last time with 5 notifications it lost 27% which is a No-go.
And this week I will test if standby is really that much worse than with my 11 as I am at home not working and there my usage always is lower with much better reception the whole day. Let's see how it keeps up.

At work, low of low change from good to low coverage LTE and back, I can say I was and still am positively surprised. Yesterday, a long day, out and about I lost around 55%, even did some photos and videos, using it quite some time and coverage was mostly fine but I was traveling almost the whole day. So in general for the 12 Mini size the battery life is really, really good imo.

But as much as I love my Mini I am on the fence of testing the normal 12. But as I can see from here every iPhone 12 can have this drain problem.

Maybe I will try a clean install too if this night it keeps loosing battery.

i also lost 10 % again with battery save mode activated. I have full bars in my apartment. It showed nothing as running.

Edit: looks like the Feedback form on Apple does not even include iOS 14.2 let alone 14.2.1 yet!

I would like to contact customer service but I doubt they can do much besides telling me to "restore it" again ...

On Friday evening after my first day with my Pro, its lost 22 percent overnight but i put that down to syncing. Didn't charge my phone last night and after 27 hours including light usage it has lost 23% which is less than 1% an hour so happy with that and no particular overnight settings enabled. I expect battery efficiency to improve after a few charge cycles.

I told them in the Feedback notes because of those not black pixels that I was on 14.2 and that it's happening on this iOS but there was no option for it.

12% last night on my Mini. Wifi on, low power mode on, do not disturb, cellular off, 5g off. Feeling a little frustrated because I love this little phone in every other way

Wow the battery drain. On mine is so bad.. over 20% in 8-9 hours over night.

Something happened with mine. It felt like there was severe drain on standby (night or during the day) and texting daily on iMessage seemed to destroy battery life...then a few days ago it like "corrected" itself and now it last all day even with heavy texting/snapchat/etc and I'm at like 60% around 8 and 9pm instead of 20%.

Weird.

Here’s my graph from last night. Really don’t get it. Really hoping for a quick and easy software fix. Will be trying airplane mode tonight.

It is really so strange.

Yesterday night I lost 5% in airplane mode, everything off. Tonight 1h less sleep I lost 2% with LTE on, everything else off, no notification. Really, really strange. Last time with LTE on during night and 5 notifications I lost 27%, and normally 0% in full airplane mode. Now it is the other way around. This is so strange. Maybe battery is still not fully calibrated. Because battery sitting is useless concerning drain, it shows nothing to only 1min of use of lock screen sometimes in 1h.

My overnight drain is not reproducible. Sometimes it is there in high %, sometimes in low %, sometimes perfect. But I can't reproduce it at all.

But atm in general, with some % losing here or there, battery life during the whole day for my little Mini is very good, can't complain at all. Only strange thing are these non reproducible losts in % sometimes.

Maybe the modems might have something to do with it?! I hear they are power hogs. Can’t wait for the x60.
