Exactly - and I guess people coming from the old max isn't missing THAT much screen space with the 12 or 12 pro. Last year you had to choose between 5.8" and 6.5" - this year 6.1" is closer to the old max model - but of course the 6.7" on the new is nice. I guess that is why my dream iPhone would be a "non-pro" iPhone 12 Max :)
on paper yes the old max model looks like the 6.1 but to me not even close!! the 6.1 is long and skinny making it hard to read… and narrow.

After initially wondering if I would find the Max too big, I don’t at all. After over a week of use it seems just the right size and my 11 Pro has gone back to Apple in trade.

I usually don’t get that excited about iPhone’s, preferring to use my iPad Pro most of the time, but with my new 12 Pro Max, I am using so much more. Sometimes even using it to read an e-book, something I have never done on an iPhone before. I love it!

The iPhone 12 Pro Max is the exact same width and less than 1/8" taller than your iPhone 8 plus, the same as my old 6s plus that I replaced with the 12 pro max.

This is what I don't understand: basically, the 12 Pro Max is the same size as the old "plus" phones. I honestly don't notice the difference at all. Do you really feel that the additional 1/8" height makes it hard to put in a pocket?

Anyway, it's just a personal thing and Apple certainly has a size to suit almost everyone now. :)

I compared my new 12 Pro Max to a colleague‘s 8 Plus and yes they are identical width and the Max is only slightly higher. I used to love my old 7 Plus, but have gone with smaller phone since the X, and now wish I had gone Max again before now. So much better to use!

That is true in terms of the size. But I didn't like the grip on 8+ at all, while the same size is much grippier on the Max due to square sides.

I agree the square side feel much more secure to hold - to my surprise I much prefer. I feel Apple have got it exactly right this time. I have been upgrading yearly the last few years, but unless there is some unmissable enhancement next year, can see the 12 Pro Max being with me for a few years.

So I just got the 12 pro today. I still have my max though. Going to use the 12 for a bit to see how I like it. I have used the plus sizes besides the initial year the iPhone X was released.

so far I can say the iPhone 12 pro feels better in the hand for sure. I never had a difficult time using the 12PM so to say.. just a more pleasant feel. I’ll check in after a bit to say what my final thoughts are. I browse the web a lot so not sure I’ll miss the screen all that much. Most media consumption is through my iPad with the AirPod pros.

with a case on the 12pro I enjoy it a lot. A case on the 12PM kinda bothered me

Upgraded from the XS Max, which I had to charge in the afternoon. This 12 PM lasts all day with around 30% battery by the end of the day. Plus its quicker too!
Deffo no regrets here!
Upgraded from the XS Max as well and I love it. It's a lot thinner than the XS Max when in an Otterbox. I realize this is due to a case design change but since that's the case I use it means the phone is thinner for me. I also love the camera ❤️

Back already... threw my sim back in my 12 pro max lmao 👍🏻
Yeah I did a 12 pro from an 11 pro Max for a few weeks. I preferred the size but once the 12 pro Max came out I had to get it. Gave the 12 pro to family and yep. While the 12 pro Max is huge and pulls pants down - the battery and screen space can’t be beat.

So basically, you've been assimilated?

yeah happy with my pro max, I always go for the bigger displays and the battery life is so great even with a smaller battery from the 11 pro max and most days I end the day on at least 45-50% so for me I never need to worry about that and get to view more content on a bigger display. camera is great and video is obviously great which ticks all the boxes as well.

I wonder if Apple believes they have hit the apex of potential users? The idea that 'everyone' has a charger and cable sitting around is laughable, especially for people coming over from Android. Yes, they have wall chargers, and USB-C and micro USB cables; try making that cable work. How about the chargers? Will they charge an iPhone with the proper cable, more than likely not. I have three Samsung blocks and not one of them is recognized by the phone.

What about people have thrown in the towel, and are finally getting a cell phone? I know a handful of farmers and retirees in MT who only this year got their first real smart phone (some still rocked flips).
