I think it came down to the Qualcomm modem. On the Snapdragon 865 they had separate modems/chips for LTE and 5G and they were charging an extra ~$165 per chip because of it. Assuming the a14 would have the same modem capabilities. Think that's the main reason the pixel went with a lower tier chip to keep the cost of device from going up. Samsung raised prices because of it and had lower sales. So think the non included accessories and smaller batteries were to save $'s so apple didn't have to raise prices.I wonder if Apple believes they have hit the apex of potential users? The idea that 'everyone' has a charger and cable sitting around is laughable, especially for people coming over from Android. Yes, they have wall chargers, and USB-C and micro USB cables; try making that cable work. How about the chargers? Will they charge an iPhone with the proper cable, more than likely not. I have three Samsung blocks and not one of them is recognized by the phone.
What about people have thrown in the towel, and are finally getting a cell phone? I know a handful of farmers and retirees in MT who only this year got their first real smart phone (some still rocked flips).
