LOL, I love Futurama :)
And I love all you guys for making this happen in a total non-gay way of course :D

Cheers

Boy, I sure am glad I overreacted and made a huge stink about returning my system to Apple because of their severe breach of my trust.

/sarcasm

Perfect, my DOA replacement 13" MBP arrives tomorrow morning. Now just waiting for SSD price drops.

What a trip! Yes, we did! So now, next question: What's a
good, fast but reliable SSD? I nearly ordered a 256 GB Corsair
(rebranded Samsung), but people mentioned non-existent
firmware updates, which scared me. Is the Intel X-25 the
front runner?

Best,

We did it! My 13" MBP arrives tomorrow. I ordered it last week even though I knew about the 1.5 limit but hoping it would be resolved in the future. I never expected it to get done so soon. Thanks Apple. Now, can we see some SSD benchmarks? Are people still having OCZ problems installing the OS? I think I'll wait until SSD prices drop before upgrading. I can't wait for my MBP to be delivered tomorrow. I got rid of my MBA because I couldn't even get 2 hours of battery life with it.

Thanks everyone!

This was a nice afternoon treat! Now I don't have to return/sell my MBP and I can happily start researching SSDs.

Congratulations to everyone who wanted this solved, especially those who pushed to escalate this problem, even amidst those naysayer who complained about the complainers. I am very happy now with Apple's response, and I feel the MacBook Pro at this point is as perfect as can be now.

Time for an intel x25m now :D:D:D

I told you guys likely it was a simple bug that just got overlooked, and would be fixed with a new firmware... but noooo... some people had to freak out. :p

System started grinding to a halt.. then the drive just disappeared. Disk utility showed the drive but it would "fail to respond" to partitioning. Tried it in a windows box too.. same thing.. Tried to re-flash it as well but it wasn't showing up. :-(

thats very sad to hear....i just invested 800 in 2 of these beasts....how long have you been running it for ?

OK, frick, I thought I applied the update, but nothing happened-- no shut down message, etc. I restarted, and the controller still reads 1.5, and the installer says the computer doesn't need the update..

It think it took the update, but didn't appear to. So.... now what?

EDIT
Oh for crying out loud. I followed the links and went to the iMac updater somehow. OK, I'm a retard. Anyone still want an updated benchmark?

I think it is awesome that Apple listened to the voices of it's customers and fixed the issue. All of your guys' persistence really did pay off.

Just goes to show that the squeeky wheel gets the oil...or the firmware update ;)
