Hi all,

I have had an iPhone 7 for the past 5ish years now and have absolutely loved it. It started failing on me Christmas Day and I decided it was time. I ordered the 13 Pro and it came today. All the improvements are nice like a WAY better camera and nicer display but I actually have hand strain from reaching around the display with how big and heavy the thing is. It just seems so big... Did anyone else have issues at first and just get used to it over time? It really is a two handed device to me which I am not used to. I am thinking about going to a 13 mini. Any thoughts?
I've had mine for a little of a month now and it is going back. I hate the weight, and feel of the phone. The squared off frame is not for me either. Going back to my 11pro

It’s manageable, but not my preference. My dream would be everything about the iPhone 13 Pro but shrunken down into the size of the 13 Mini. I chose to get the features over the size though. I wish Apple would’ve at least kept the smaller Pro models at 5.8” instead of 6.1”.
Couldn't agree more. The 5.8" IMO is the perfect size

I'm one of those crazy people who uses two phones, a max and a mini. Both have their specific advantages in different situations.
I love the max for real tasks and media consumption, but prefer the mini as a music player or workout companion because it fits my pockets. I also take the mini to concerts or date nights when I don't want to carry a big phone because I know I don't have to do anything with it.
I also uses different sizes of iPads and Macs around the house for different purposes. So having different sizes of phones doesn't seem so strange for me.
Do you swap the sim and just keep it moving every time or have multiple lines with multiple phones. I'm so intrigued. I always wanted more than 1 phone lol

I remember I tested the 5.8 XS in the apple store. I thought it was the biggest phone I could ever have which appears to be true. With the rounded edges it seemed much more manageable than a 6.1 that is all square and bulky. X-11Pro seem like nice phones. Still too expensive refurbished and I'll pass on used sadly.

I finally got a 13 pro max after my 7+ was dying. For me it took a while to get used to the weight (so heavy), like a month or so I was contemplating about getting the 13 or 13 pro for something lighter, but 13 pro max is so fast and the battery is so great I don’t think I want to trade it anymore now.

Good case might help, not sure if you use case with yours though. My earlier cases were a little bulky but I’ve since got slimmer cases and it helped.

Chunky and bulky cases used to be my thing since I felt the iPhones before the 12 series were to skinny. I have the 12 Pro Max and prefer only thin cases.

Just got the 13 Pro today. I came from XS Max which I have used for 3 years, then when that phone had problem, I used my old 6S for a few months before buying the 13 Pro. The 13 Pro is heavy. It bothers me because I have forgotten the weight of the XS Max and the 6S is so light. I’m sure I’ll get used to it, as I’ve gotten used to the XS Max.

Love the screen, the camera and the speed. I think I’ll keep it for a while.

Btw, just wondering - I read that people are returning phones after using for 2-3 weeks. What do Apple do with those? Sell as refurbished or repackage and sell as new?? Always bothering me when I read that people but to try and return them. Surely some poor bloke will be getting a used phones and paying new.

A return goes through Apple refurbishment process and sold on the Apple Refurb Store.

Apple wouldn’t resell them as new, they can get sued. These phones will be refurbished and put in refurbished section or for parts/warranty repairs.

Thanks. With the global supply constraint and iPhone 13 Pro being on wait-list (in my country anyway), it's a wonder that they still maintain a generous return policy. They are losing sales if people keep on returning it and it goes to the refurbished section.

The 13 Pro is almost too big already. My qualification is that it has to fit in the front pocket of my jeans. Can't do that with the Max, and I am not ready to have to wear cargo pants just to hold the Max. Now, if I was a lady with a handbag, that would be a different story.

I think Apple already put into consideration all those things into their pricing.... :D They don't just charge people $1000+ for a phone out of spite.

13 Pro max sucks.
Its TOO heavy, too THICK and too BULKY.
I’ve been using one for few months and its becoming unbearable.
I hate handling it.
Get 13 Pro.
And this comes from someone who had large phones in the past decade.

I have to agree. I had the 11 Pro Max for two years and I never found it to be too big or heavy. But when I got the 13 Pro Max when it launched, it was just way too ginormous and unwieldy. Had to returned it as I had other problems with it as well. 13 Pro is the ideal size I agree.

Everyone has a different taste. I love my iPhone 13 mini, and the 12 mini before that. I use an iPad for those scenarios where a big screen is needed. I tried an iPhone 11 Pro Max, but after 6 months I sold it, and bought the iPhone SE 2020 (just so I could get the most for the 11 Pro Max), until the iPhone 12 mini was released, and bought that.

I thought I would be happy with a big phone, as everyone else was doing it. And one device to do anything on, sounded great. But I quickly found myself irritated by size and weight.

So I have concluded, that a phone for me needs to be small enough to fit in my pants without me noticing it. And with the Magsafe battery pack, for those days I need a bigger battery, I have the perfect combo. So I'm at peace with my decision 😃

I bought the 13 Mini due to the light weight and size and that I like small devices. I had compared the standard 6.1" 13 and the standard 6.1" 13 Pro. The Pro was noticeably heavier to hold than the standard 13, and heavy enough not for me to want to buy it. If the 13 Mini were not for sale, I could had lived with the standard 13, being that it felt relatively lightweight for its size, but not the 13 Pro.

Well I have the 13 Pro Max probably the heaviest I have ever had but manageable as it is not that much bigger than the 7plus. It really reminds me of the iPhone 4.

About a month after the iPhone 13’s came out I originally got a Product Red 13 and loved the colour and weight. I bought the phone outright as non-carrier financing wasn’t available with a discount I had access to. I loved it for about a month, I was coming from an 11 Pro and liked the slightly bigger size. I did start to miss the telephoto and loved promotion on my iPad Pro so knew I would love it on my phone as well. In December my carrier offered a special deal for me to get a 13 Pro for $20 off per month so I decided to return the 13 and get the Pro. I’m really glad I did.

The weight was noticeable but no bothersome and ProMotion made the phone feel faster than a new iPhone has since iPhone X (as you can probably tell I don‘t do all that many intensive tasks on my phone). Also having 3x telephoto instead of 2x from my 11 Pro was/is awesome!.

A couple months after I got the phone I went on medical leave from work and was spending a lot time in bed and on the couch. I started to notice the weight again, in part because I wasn’t moving much so my body was weaker (my Apple Watch rings were very sad most of February and March), and in part because of how much more I was using my phone. I started to yearn for the lighter weight and almost tried to sell my phone or trade in for a 13. I didn’t though because I just never got around to it and then I started to feel better and went back to work.

When I’m out and about now I feel the heft in my hand of the phone but it doesn’t bother me at all, I barely think about it until I hold a lighter phone, get excited about light phones but then forget when I’m back on my phone again.

All of that to say I would prefer the phone to be lighter all other things being equal (though I’d be okay with a different material than stainless steel as long as it didn’t dent and scratch like I’ve seen aluminum iPhones do) but it doesn’t bother me at all and the extra features are more than worth the extra weight imo.

I went from the 12 Pro to the 13 Pro Max. I thought I would have difficulty, but that has not been the case. For me, given my vision issues, I find the PM easier to read and for me, that is most significant. There is no absolute correct scenario. Everyone’s circumstances are different. After a while, these threads get repetitive, because there is no absolute.

i went with the pro max and kind of regret it due to the size. It’s a chore to lug it around everywhere. Love the big screen though

My wife went from 6s to 13 Mini. The 13 Mini gives a taller screen, but does feel more chunky than the 6s, I think because of the squarer edges. She is very happy with the battery life.
Although I have a Pro Max, I can appreciate both sizes. The 13 Mini is neat and compact, whereas the Pro Max has a more useful screen size for some apps.
The two things I would really miss in the 13 Mini are: no "telephoto" camera (I use this a lot on the Pro Max, as the other lenses are only wide angle), and a screen that is too small (IMO) for navigation apps (like GAIA GPS

Bingo! I bought the 13 Mini initially but returned it the next day after trying to take some photos at the zoo and realized I could only go 3x zoom. Loving the Pro but have FOMO for the 13 PM lol.

I never got used to the weight unfortunately. My husband now has the pro and I got a mini
