They would be wise to try to Sync Up with the launch of Wi-Fi 6E !

Otherwise, will very-likely flop !

6e enabled routers are already on the market, as are hardware for computers (intel’s 6e modem already out)

They may give the MBP the ”Ethernet in the power supply” treatment.
I would love that if it wasn't for the fact that you'd have to keep your MacBook plugged in all the time. USB-C to Gigabit ethernet adapters all use the same unreliable Realtek chip. They really need to add an option to use it plugged in with charging disabled.

Before the M1 even launched, the sources said Apple had Apple Silicon chips that were 8 core (4+4), 12 core (8+4), 16 core (12+4), and thats what they had 8 months ago. So far we've only seen one of those chips in a product.

Sources can be wrong (ask the guy without eyebrows), but even if, so what?

Doing an "M1X" for products that are marketed as "pro" and ship after the A15 is introduced sounds just plain wrong.
Doing an "M2X" (lots of cores related to the A15) without offering an "M2" for the base line seems odd.

I'm also not convinced that the 14" will be marketed as "Pro", would make a lot of sense to see it as a bigger Air (also a bit faster due to the cores being 1 year younger).

Apple is a little misleading re: the XDR screen tech (I have a Pro Display XDR, so I am familiar with how these work).

Please don’t purchase something with XDR branding and assume you can just jack the brightness to 1,000 nits (double the brightness of all Mac products presently) and be floored. That is now how it works.

For Mac products, you're still going to be seeing 500 nits, but when watching HDR contact, the brightness level will increase the HDR levels above 500.

It’s great for HDR content, but everything else will just look like a normal retina display.

Is this a late April fools joke, just the result of Johnny Ive being gone, or is someone finally listening at Apple?

Honestly, I'm not believing any of it. Does not sound like today's Apple.

Just include a magnetic breakaway section in the USB C power cable. Same safety benefit, no wasted extra bespoke port.
There’s plenty of space on the side for a bespoke port and it’s cents on the dollar for a MagSafe port in bulk as a un Apple affiliated tech, I imagine for apple themselves especially at such a quantity it would be a rounding error when it comes to increased costs.

the prob with magnetic usb-c cables is there’s still a nub that stick’s out that can be damaged or damage the port. (Unless they sunk a USB port in so with the disconnect connected it sits flush.

don’t give me wrong your solution is better than the current but it’s still worse than the original MagSafe

"SD card slot and HDMI" - I seriously doubt that. Apple was never interested to make a "Pro" device so the ports were gone in the first place. It only builds what Tim Cook dreams. I feel some day the keyboard will be gone too...

Debating if I should hold onto my 2013 MBP for a little longer or just buy the current MB Air now....

I got my 2019 16" right around the time it all hit the fan last spring, but when Apple Silicon was announced, I knew it'd be a trade-in/upgrade machine almost immediately upon release of the updated machines.

I can't wait to get that in a 16" machine.
Well, hopefully Apple will make the right moves and create a new M.... with more power than a current i9 processor, more memory options than the current MacBooks M1's, More storage options, improved GPU with its own memory on the SOC. People will get better battery life, but I am always around a plug and very rarely run off the battery, and it sits on a desktop so cool computer does not matter. There is a possibility that Apple will offer both the M... and an Intel 10th gen mobile processor one last time, due to the chip shortage.

I don't want to see a Alienware laptop put up against a MacBook Pro 16 and see, wow, see how much faster a PC laptop is to the new MacBook Pro, the Intel is out performing the M...

So the iphone 12, ipad air and the new imacs has all of those bright colours and the iphone 12 pro, ipad pro and upcoming macbook pros and the bigger imac "pro" will have those more muted colours

I certainly hope not. Especially USB-A, a 25 year old standard that's way past its shelf life.
USB-A still has quite a few things that use it (especially flash drives). Plus, a lot of people don't have the money/resources (or need) to upgrade everything to USB-C. To make it worse, I still see some display products with VGA, or worse still, S-Video, ports. Stuff like document cameras, lcd projectors, etc.

I'd bet whatever the base model 14" mbp is will come with the 8 core cpu/8 core gpu m1. You won't get an M1X or whatever it's called unless you buy top of the line or jump to the 16".

Apple has left legacy I/O behind starting with the floppy drive and serial port in the original iMac. That’s over 20 years of them moving ahead with new I/O and leaving the old behind. I cannot understand why anybody is surprised by this anymore. The original iMac massively accelerated the adoption of USB and led to a massive amount of new USB devices at the time. USB-C is becoming the new standard, and almost every device will have it sooner rather than later.

I mean, why not put a parallel port and a floppy drive on the new MacBooks too? Maybe it can come with a carrying case that has wheels since it will weigh so much...

If anything, it’s more likely to happen.

The new iMac only has 2 Thunderbolt ports unless you buy the more expensive 8-core GPU version. In that case, you get 4 ports.

Apple has started using ports as part of their price strategy.
Not new. The low-end MBP has had only two ports for years now.

What's with the X obsession? Because Apple has done this a few times when iterating on its base chip? People here get so married to routines and regularities.

We see these kinds of iterations when they are coming within a development calendar year. Apple introduces a A"n" chip in an iPhone, and then a few minutes or weeks or months later, introduces an A"nX" chip in an iPad or other more needy device.

Here the M1, built on the A14 architecture, came shortly after the A14 introduction, and has now been added to (presumably) the last new product in iMac 6 months later.

It is reasonable to assume that any new products launching at the end of year / early next year will be built on the A15 architecture. Which likely means M2. It isn't a problem if the current Macs continue to ship with M1 for quite a while, and the new MBPs and iMac Pro and Mac mini Pro and whatever...all ship with M2.
