Why can’t we get the best of both worlds. Apple could bundle a MagSafe cable with a MagSafe to usb-c adapter. It get plugged into any usb-c port on the Mac. When you yank the cable the mag safe detaches leaving the little adapter in tact.
What? Apple bundling stuff? Didn't you watch their environmental concerns? ;)

I'm sure somewhere Apple is waiting to unbundle the MacBook chargers.

My money is on removal of the touchbar and replacement with keys that have screens underneath them.

usb C will retain the ability to change but be supplemented with MagSafe if not using thunderbolt 3-4 with power connections.

why more ports? if you need more ports, the MacPro has all the ports you need. Portable Mac laptops are supposed to be light and thin. Easier for traveling.

When you are traveling is exactly when you need ports. Connecting to projectors with various different video inputs, receiving data on a thumb drive that your client hands you, connecting to ethernet in a conference room or hotel room, etc.

At home or in my office I almost never need anything beyond usb-c, because everything has already been adapted for me (I replaced the cable on my backup drive, have thumb drives with usb-c adapters, have airplay set up on the conference room monitors, etc.)

Personally, the new 14" and 16" MacBooks will have the iPad Pro (2018) design language, but will include the following features:

1. Apple M1X SoC with more CPU cores and more GPU cores.
2. 16, 32 and 64 GB of RAM available.
3. 256 GB, 512 GB, 1,024 GB and 2,048 GB of SSD local storage.
4. Touch Bar replaced by function keys. There will still be a fingerprint sensor for Touch ID.
5. Mini LED display panel, and 720p web cam replaced by 1080p web cam.
6. WiFi 6E support.
7. Right side of laptop will have one USB-C Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 Type C port, plus SD card reader and HDMI 2.1 port.
8. Left side of laptop will have two USB-C Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 Type C pots, plus (maybe!) a MagSafe charging port that looks like the old MagSafe port but physically smaller.

I have my doubts about the MagSafe port, especially if Apple can get the USB-IF to squeeze more charging power for USB-C charging over USB Type C very soon.

Now word that USB Type A connectors will be making a comeback. Why not bring back SCSI and the RS232 port as well, and an analog VGA connector.

I don’t want obsolete tech from a manufacturer that is a tech leader. It’s supposed to be painful to use vestigial tech so there is an incentive to move into the 21st century.

Puts a smile on my face knowing that i didn’t buy anything currently out. Id be so angry knowing that these are out there.

Count me as one of many that does not want a return to the function keys of the 1970s. While the Touch Bar is not revolutionary, I almost never use the function keys.

You can be perpetually in fear of buying and eventually have to pull the trigger. I’m glad I didn’t get last years iPad Pro. They have done nothing with it or the lidar since it’s release. And the rest is basically like the 2018.

These arm processors are going to be big especially coming from s lifestyle company (yes I’m making fun of you Intel, your goose Is cooked). About 99 percent of what’s out works through Rosetta 2 and the run so cool is the killer. I’ve got a 16” MBP and will dump it as soon as these release. I’m done with Intel.

Thank god for the mag safe being back. Thank you Apple for listening to your loyal customers
I wouldn't get too excited, yet. All we have are rumors. The time to get excited is when we have confirmed facts. Too many times rumors have been touted as facts around here, and then when something doesn't come to fruition as the rumor stated, many here lash out at Apple ,as if it was Apple's fault the rumor mill and gossip line was right all along.

agree ...
sometimes I wonder if these kind of rumors are initiated by Apple to test market reaction though o_O

Not true. The lower end Mac Book Pro had only 2 thunderbolt/usb-c ports. That is what they replaced with the M1.

Just kind of petty that more money gets you more ports. I feel at least 4 USB-C ports should be standard across all machines.

If the Touch Bar is removed, I might consider getting the 14" depending on other specs.
I can give you the specs right away. It's going to be the best MacBook Apple has EVER because "only Apple can do that" and it's going be one that they absolutely love. So, better start saving not only for the new MacBook, but also for the most expensive AppleCare plan, because you won't be able fix absolutely anything.

6 x Thunderbolt 3 ports would be an instant buy for me.

While it is annoying to carry around a dongle or dock for all the other ports one needs,
I wouldn't want to sacrifice a TB3 port which is far more powerful and versatile just to get a couple other ports back.
