What are we speculating the starting cost of the 14” to be?

if MBP with A1 starts with 1299$, do we expect MBP with A1x to be priced at 1399$ Or 1499$? Also is it replacing the current A1 MBP?

If it has the additional ports etc I’d expect a 200$ jump for the base config. Any thoughts?

Most likely it will replace the 'high end' (4 port) 13" MacBook Pro starting at $1,799 to begin with. Eventually the $1,299 (2 port) model might get the same treatment to further distance it from the MacBook Air, but maybe not this year.

Ok thanks!. So it’s replacing the 13” MBP (that I still see on the apple store), with Intel cpu, 16gb and 512 storage?

  • OLED Function strip? Useless garbage, that very few use.
  • Ports that require endless dongles? An useless, arrogant and expensive-for-consumers, fail.
  • Modern HDMI (video/stereo audio) out? Essential for those of us who make our livings making presentations. Another Video/Audio out port for still extant technologies would be welcomed as well.
  • NO-MagSafe charging port? What an equally arrogant, absurd idea! I have kids and dogs, and without MagSafe on my older lappy, it would have been destroyed by now! I will not buy ANY new MacBook until dongles are sent to the graveyard of really stupid ideas. Bring back MagSafe, or count me out.
  • SIM slot for data and telephony? Now, that would be extremely cool.
  • A keyboard that works, and doesn't get gunked up or stops functioning!
  • A batt that holds charge, and/or requires expensive replacement after Applecare's extended warranty runs out. Ya know? Come on!
  • Stereo audio out jack, well, duh!
  • Touchscreen? HAHAHAHAHA, never gonna happen.
  • M1 iteration? There had better be if Apple wants my 3.5k+ €€€ for a 16" lappy.
Best,

So you don’t know what “arrogant” means, huh?

😂 so what do you use USB A or HDMI for that USB C ports can't do?
HDMI for screens/projectors that might not be compatible or don't use native resolution because of the adapter. Believe it or not, they exist (like e.g. most Dell screens) and up until recently it was a real problem when I wanted to present at a client office.

Ahh magsafe...how I've missed you...my toddler and infant both have proven how vital you were. Fortunately, the kids and laptop have made it pretty much unscathed thus far, but the ends of the usb-c cords on the other hand are bent to hell

Yeah, I end up using an iphone and an iPhone-to-HDMI adapter to present anything because of the same issues.

Haha. You grabbed your mac when your kid almost tripped over it, great instincts! Hope your kid is ok. I wish Apple would go back to the original smaller trackpad, my hands are always in the air. I hope the new models don't overheat and and throttle power, no excuse for putting out an any machine like that, especially a loaded $5K+ Mac. WHEN will apple put descent speakers with VOLUME in their overpriced Macbooks? No excuse for that either.

Apple needs to bring back the 17" form factor, with small bezels could be closer to 17.5" screen, and a full keyboard with numeral pad. Ability to run 3x Pro Display XDR's

15 and 17 inch pros alongside a 13 inch air would probably be the optimal line up with Apple Silicon.

Well
As I've said elsewhere: Apple need to worry about just hitting parity with the Intel models they replace in terms of I/O, before we start worrying about improving on that level of I/O.

Well yeah that’s a given. Bring back MagSafe and all the ports

I said they need to worry about getting parity with the models they replace before worrying about your "support 3x 6K displays" wish.

If the replacement for the 16" (and the 4-port 13") drops TB3 ports, to add HDMI/SD card to appease the whiners, it will have worse overall I/O than the 2016 MBP15 - half a decade ago.

Swapping TB3 for onboard HDMI is not an improvement, unless you can literally only think about your personal use case.

If it's going to be released without usb-a, not interested. I'm still using my old mid 2012 13" and is still a brilliant working machine! Ok, I've made some changes: extended to 16Gb RAM and 2TB SSD. And with the new battery (outstanding at least 6 hours of power) and the 1.5Gb Video Card, I have nothing to comply. Everything is running smoothly, same as it did from the first moment I've got it. However, I like the new design (without curves) and the extension to 14".

I have a 15" MBP TB, and if I buy the M2 16" MBP I'm not sure the extra inch in screen space will be noticeable enough. Another reason for  to bring back a 17"
