I’d ask for AppleCare+. It’s a high margin SKU and I suspect they would be very willing to give it to you.

Update here. I emailed Tim Cook yesterday because I still hadn’t heard anything. Within an hour or two I received a phone call from someone on the executive relations team who had been forwarded my email. He started the call by stating that the response Apple had provided was totally unacceptable given the circumstances and he would personally see it through to resolution. So I guess some kudos for that. ....

Good method - write to the CEO or Public Relations. They have power.

I had an issue once with an Airline - the largest Middle Eastern one. I booked a discounted First class fare from Melbourne to Dusseldorf and back to Melbourne in Business Class. I thought the deal was running out and I booked and paid for the fare at 11:30 pm at night. This was about 15 years ago, the cost was in Australian Dollars, $4,260.

I did not get a confirmation, so after an hour, I left the computer on and went to bed.

The next morning, I got a confirmation of my air ticket - but the price was $25,000.

I checked the current price and it had not changed. I rang the local Melbourne office for the airline, and they said get stuffed - you paid for it fella. I contacted the bank who ran my credit card (the bank was not an Australian bank) and they said too bad - you paid for it fella.

So I contacted the Airline in their home city, via their public relations department.

Eventually they fixed it all up, and gave me an upgrade - but it wasn't worth much at end of the day because I got no flier points from the trip and my status (which was gold at the time) did not get any credits for the trip, due to the "special deal" I got ... I stopped flying with the airline after that, except for using up my flyer points.

It took me hours and hours to get a resolution.

The airline eventually said that their computer system had placed the highest price on each of my flight's legs -Melbourne to Singapore, then to the Middle East, then to Dusseldorf, and back via the Middle east - each leg on a retail non discounted international leg price ...

I never told the airline until they resolved things - that I had taken screen captures of the purchase. Since then, I take even more care to ensure that I always screen capture an internet purchase.

Enjoy your M macbook pro. Don't trust the interest either!
