12.0.1 on a 16" M1 MaxWhat version of macOS are you running?
same thing here. Both after I've updated to 12.0.1 and with a clean reinstall of 12.0.112.0.1 on a 16" M1 Max
Dang, so much for 12.0.1 then. I wonder why it seemed to fix the issue for me. Probably just need to keep trying and it will eventually crash. Practice makes perfect...12.0.1 on a 16" M1 Max
@arn not sure who else to tag but MacRumors should do a story on this. Seems pretty widespread. My tried this on two of my friends machines and was able to reproduce the crash on both.
my speaker makes a weird poppy noise before it restartsSo far, happened to me twice. Makes a funny noise before it completely shuts down.
I thought that was already a known issue due to the lack of ProMotion integrationI'm finding scrolling (14" M1Max 24GPU) to be bruuuuuuuuuuuutally choppy and slow since updating this morning.
Just basic forum scrolling. My 11 year old MBP is smoother.
Restarted and its still there.
Does it mean it is a hardware issue? Mine crashes so quickly by just playing the video for seconds. No problems here, youtube 4K HDR or 8K HDR, buttery smooth, base 14"
8K HDR Chrome

I think I may have figured it out, folks. Remember I said it seemed fixed after I upgraded to 12.0.1? Well, when I updated I also decided to try the new "Compact" tab layout in Safari. It occurred to me that maybe the problem stopped because I switched away from the classic tab layout. So I switched back to "Separate" mode in preferences and boom, the problem reoccurred. I switched back to "Compact" tab again and no crashing.

That's a good question. This may be Apple's master plan to make us all use compact mode ?works for me tooNo crashing under compact. Now how do I get similar results in other browsers, i.e., Chrome, Brave? Thanks for the tip!
At least it's not hardware relatedThat's a good question. This may be Apple's master plan to make us all use compact mode ?
I dunno. I thought it would have been resolved?I thought that was already a known issue due to the lack of ProMotion integration
