If I am not wrong both 14 and 16 inch displays have 10.000 mini LEDs. At this point; because of 16 inch has larger area, there are less number of leds per unit of area. For example 14 inch display has more mini LEDS in x cm square compared to 16 inch display.

At this point is it possible to say 16 inc model is more vulnarable for some problems like blooming and halo effect which seen in ipad pro because of less number of mini LED feeding per unit area.
 
Sorry im not expert but here's some data that are known

According to gizmodo :

"The 14-inch MacBook Pro has 8,040 miniLEDs spread across 2,010 local dimming zones,
while the 16-inch offers 10,216 miniLEDs across 2,554 local dimming zones."



Likewise on Apple MBP product page the 10,000 mini LEDs has a footnote saying only apply to the 16".
Doesn't say the count for the 14"

"27. Claim refers to 16-inch MacBook Pro."


The iPad Pro 12.9" have 10,000 mini LED grouped into four so 2,500 local dimming zones.

In theory the MBP's should show more blooming as they have less local dimming per screen area than iPad Pro but reviews and some reports in this forum says otherwise.

Perhaps Apple have upped the local dimming algorithm, and/or using better films and diffusers for the MPB screen ?

Probably why FPS is a bit lower on he 16” vs. the 14”, makes sense, more dots to push.
