This is the computer I’ve been waiting for. At last I’ll be able to cast aside my M1 MBA and my 2015 15” MBP and have one system to rule them all. It’s like combining some of the best features of each into one easy to use laptop. I need this thing in my life!! 👍

False. There are plenty of people out there who want a 15" Apple laptop but don't want to pay MBP prices and don't need MBP power. I'm one of them and I eventually sucked it up and bought a 16". If this comes to fruition I wish I would have waited.
You can always count on the “I don’t need it so no one does”’ crowd.

I just wish they didn't consider a refresh rate above 60Hz to be a pro feature.

I asked in another comment what's supposed to make this "Air" at nearly 16 inches and with no wedge shape.

Apparently the answer to that is "60Hz display" which is odd.

Other than that I agree.

The answer is marketing. If your only complaint about this machine is that they call it “Air”, you have no real problem with it and are just looking for something to complain about.

I'm not complaining, I'm just wondering about how Apple is naming things. Every thread there's a joke about all Apple's keyword names lately. And the way Apple is differentiating things is increasingly less descriptive (Studio, Pro, Air, Magic, Max, Ultra, etc.)

So yeah marketing, but why call it Air and not just MacBook?

My only actual complaint is the 60Hz display, if it's true.

Not being as heavy as the 16 inch. That's the selling point.

It's a laptop. Weight is a selling point for a significant number of people.

If Apple hadn't dramatically increased the weight of the 16" MBP compared to previous offering I agree, there would be little point. But the fact is they did. And they probably aren't slimming down that computer any time soon. They have a super efficient chip that makes building super thin and light laptops with great battery life WAY easier than it used to be with Intel. WHY WOULDN'T they use that technology to bring more thin and light laptop offerings to market?
If the 15 model released on 2022 June with M2 Macbook air together will make more sense. It is just a bigger size M2 Macbook Air. It is too late to relase it. Why they would release it at this point?

At the end of 2023, Apple will be ready for M3 chip that would be 18 months since M2 released.

I believe Apple will update 13 and 15 model macbook air with M3 chip at Oct 2023.

14” Apple M1 Pro with 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine 1GB/512GB
$2,299.00

16” Apple M1 Pro with 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine 1GB/512GB
$2,499.00

You can’t get the 16” in the lower core model, but if you play with the configurator and match up the specs, they are only $200 different.
Both of us are not wrong.

If this rumour comes true. I'll be there ready to purchase this Macbook Air on day one.

The screen size and weight will be perfect on this machine!

The battery life will be mind boggling awesome on this device.

Please, 🙏 make this happen 🍎.

It seems to me when the MacBook Pro 14" and 16" laptops were released everyone was excited and still excited with all the ports, and MagSafe. Now it seems since the release of the new MacBook Air M2 the reviewer guys are saying, well I can't hardly put the Air down and pick up my heavy pro, so idk. I am using my MacBook Air M2 and love the machine, but the thought of a larger display would be cool.

Simplicity is the key here. Why have multiple models overlapping each other. Just create a simple line and allow customers to choose the chip. M2, M2 Pro & M2 Max.

11" 13" 15"

No need to have tons of things to choose from and clutter the line like hell. Keep it simple
It used to be kinda like that with the MBP back in 2009 (the year I got my first MacBook): you chose 13", 15" or 17"...

In fairness the "Air" name is kind of silly at this point.

Should just be Macbook 13", Macbook 15", Macbook Pro 14", and Macbook Pro 16".

I’ll be the unpopular one and say this is a weird prediction. A 15” MBA has no niche when the 14”MBP and 16”MBP exist.

MBAs are all about portability. I could understand a thinner lighter 13”MBA, but a 15” one? Nah
i think it used to be the case as the 2016-2019 15.4" was quite slim.

But now, the Pros are really bulky (in comparison to the air) and the display tech is not the same so I'd say there is space in the line-up !

Now where is the larger iMac 🤣🤣???

Whats up with Apple and giving us more models? We need less laptops, not more. The laptop line is so cluttered right now.
What they need to do is kill the 13" MBP and eventually the M1 MBA. Without them, and with this, the line basically mirrors what we had with iBooks/Powerbooks years ago, which is pretty easy to understand and gives appropriate steps up:

Pro:
14" MBP
16" MBP

Consumer:
13" MBA
15" MBA

I'd bet there's probably markets for an 18" MBP if that ever got added that could represent a heavy top-of-the-line model and an 11" MBA more in the style of the old 2016 MB for the very very light travel machine :)

I still think that white bezelled colourful MacBook is in the works, I am predicting that will replace the M1 Air in time, and just be called MacBook an won’t have the notch with a 12” screen size also ultra thin.

This does sound good. But it’s not tapered anymore, and 15” is getting pretty big. What makes it “Air” then?

Perhaps because it's Light as Air, Fanless Air(flow) or the pricing will be plucked out of thin Air?

I'd love this size to replace my dinosaur MBP15". The 14" is too small and 16" just unnecessarily (for my use) bulky and heavy. Let's see what panel is on offer.
