Why shouldn’t there be a consumer model in a larger size? Why should a 15” screen be available only to professional users?

The so-called “clutter” exists from apple offering older models at lower prices. Again, why shouldn’t apple keep perfectly good laptops available at lower prices for those who want them? It’s smart to expand their market.
Yes, either make a bigger screen Air, or have lower spec packages on the 16" Pro. Why do they have to lock the biggest screen behind specs that are way more than people need at $2k+?

About time! I bet this will be an instant-buy for many who have previously had to buy a 15/16" MBP if they wanted a larger screen.

Will be interesting to see what the footprint of the machine is as that's as-much a limiting factor to these larger laptops as the weight is.
Yes if a bigger screen Air has a reasonable price, I might actually consider it.

So I buy the 16' MBP because I just wanted the bigger screen but had to pay big money, and now the MBA 15 which I have been asking for, for years, is now finally going to show it's self.
Glad to see by the comments rolling in, I'm not the only one who feels like this. It's so annoying to lock a screen size behind specs people will barely need at an unreasonable price

Doh! I wish I didn't buy my 16" MBP now 😭

Still, I got it at a good price (£1,470) so guess I can sell, try and break-even and buy the Air 😁

this is not a great price , this is absolutely insane. where did you get it ? i'd buy it in a heartbeat at that price

the 15 air will likely start at 1449-1499 in the UK , with 8/256gb specs. add 400 bucks on top of that to get 16/512...oh well

2560x1664 is approximately 3:2

It's closer to 3:2 than the 16:10 I had mistakenly cited earlier.

The math for 3:2 is 1.50:1 and the M2 Macbooks are 1.54:1

Close enough!

I accepted your criticism and fixed my illustration. And for that I say Thank You!

:)
yep it's pretty close . i mean you can put whatever aspect ratio you want on the website you're using ( dont recall the name , display wars or sth ?)

always nice to have someone not getting offended by corrections, thanks to you too !

Yep... I used DisplayWars.

I honestly forgot that the new Macbooks added some extra screen at the top for the notch. So that's why my original illustration used 16x10.

But you're right... the new screens are actually a little bit taller and thus closer to 3:2

Thanks for the correction!

👍

My aunt wants a 30" screen but doesn't want 32" XDR. So because Apple doesn't serve this niche she bought a Dell.

We can play this game forever - the message will be the same. The more fragmented the Apple line is the worst it is for the customers. Not the other way around.

My aunt wants a Mac but needs a big screen. Doesn’t need a pro. So because apple doesn’t serve this niche she bought an HP then a Lenovo.

Only if it comes with promotion and mini leds.. display upgrades are a must and have nothing pro about them.
