and M4 too and then M5. Buy what you need now. Much better approach :)
Its all about what you need when you need it. My 2010 MacBookPro is still usable after I doubled the ram and put an SSD in it. 😂 Knowing I'll probably keep my next one at least 5-6 years I'd rather wait for the M3, which by all measures will be a bigger jump than the M1-M2. I'd be willing to be the M3 would last an additional 3 years over the M2. Just my guessing though. That M2 is a hot boy.

I heard M5 will likely be much better than m3.
Let's be honest about all of this. Not every chip iteration is an identical increase. We all know the M2 is just an M1 with a higher clock speed which needs more power and puts out more heat. If I absolutely needed a comp now I'd probably just buy a M1 Pro. Since I don't need a new comp then waiting for what is arguably going to be a more substantial bump is worth it.

I'm looking forward to this one. expect a m2 Pro as option. For Apple to rush into M3 at this point while still dealing with Covid delays doesnt make sense yet.

If Apple reused the 2019 MBP 16" Core i7 14nm enclosure minus the Touchbar and placed a M2/M3 into it then it's a solid sale.

Add MagSafe 3 & HDMI 2.1 as well!
For sure. I loved the form factor on these, but my god, the thermals. Just atrocious. This FF with SoC (which I think the new 15.5” will be very similar to) will be a dream machine.

Not true. M2 Max GPU is not identical in performance. If we are being honest, most don’t need M3 either.

The average user doesn't use the Menu Bar, because it looks too complicated.

That is why I want Apple to stop being reliant on the Menu Bar. The Menu bar would still exist, but the actions would still be on the screen, making macOS a lot more user friendly.

You are confusing MacOS with Windows and Google Docs. MacOS and Mac users have relied on consistent menus for the last 39 years. Sometime time tested is better than the latest bolted on idea. What I find confusing is a hundred little hieroglyphics, that depending on window size, get covered up without warning so you never see what you need.

Not sure what average user you are referring to, iPad users?

Seriously, who on earth is expecting this thing to have pro motion?
It’s literally in the name.
*pro* motion.
To be fair, other manufacturers are offering high refresh rate screens in products far cheaper than the MacBook Air. Apple would just like you to believe it's a pro feature because they slapped a fancy name on it. :p

What would a 1tb 15 air be priced at?
I want is a 1tb air so i can fit all my junk right on laptop and have everything on it double backed up on 2 externals
Assuming they set the price at +$200 over an equally specced 13.6", it would be $1,799 for 1TB with the 8 core GPU and 8GB RAM. There's precedent for the larger screen to be a +$100 modifier too (11.6" -> 13.3" non-retina MBA) or it could be more if they don't offer the 8GB GPU (like how the 16" lacks the 16 core GPU option that the 14" has). So bare minimum $1,699, more likely $1,799, possibly more than that! :)

I actually have that laptop. I so wish I waited for the 2021 MBP 16" M1 Pro.

When I read its write up I was swoooooooning. Nirvana in an aluminum shell.
I had the i9 for a while. It mostly sat at my desk because of the airflow demand. Also the battery sucks so it needed to be plugged in a lot. Putting it on my lap was just a no go, it was like wearing a heating pad! So it sort of defeated the purpose of a laptop for me. Otherwise, I really liked it, especially the big retina screen.

The 2021 16” M1 is awesome but heavy. A little too big for me to be a comfortable laptop, again kinda defeats the purpose. But this new Air is going to be exactly right, I think.

It's my guess that the 15" Air will be a straight $200 premium over the 13" Air.

But this is Apple. There's absolutely no telling.

13" MBA starts at $1,199

14" MBP with M2 Pro, 16GB / 1TB is $2499
16" MBP with M2 Pro, 16GB / 1TB is $2699

I would expect a similar spec base 15" MBA to be $200 (maybe $300) more than 13" MBA. $1699 just doesn't make sense.
But you’re comparing non-base models. The price difference between the 14” and 16” base models is $500, so I can see Apple doing the same for the 15” Air.

I guess we’ll find out soon.

Just call it MacBook Air pro 15inch, with a display comparable to 14/16 inch MacBook Pro. Apple may charge $500 more for the Air 15.

If this is a 15.5" MBA laptop as the rumor describes, then the battery capacity will need to be higher if it is using a 500 nit LCD screen. It will weight more than smaller 13.3" M2 MBP and 13.6" M2 MBA. You also have this being directly compared to the smaller 1600 nit 14.2" XDR display MBP that is M2 Pro 10-Core CPU/16-Core GPU,16GB Unified Memory, 512GB SSD Storage for $1999 USD. If its a few hundred less, its going to be interesting to see if it fares as well as some think, especially when you kit it with more ram and storage? Also consider a M2 laptop has a max of 24GB Ram.
The M2pro MacBook Pro 14 has a shorter battery life than the M2 MacBook Air.
The 14MBP gets 12 hours of web browsing, the air gets 15.
Will be interesting to see if the same thing happens with the bigger size, the 15 inch MacBook Air could easily be their first computer to last a full 24 hours if its fanless and 60hz.
