I'm working on a paper and thought it would be useful to put my survey here as this forum has such a diverse group.

Question What is your preferred browser to use from the list? Any added information as to why is appreciated.

Yay for Safari! I love the browser, it's so pretty. Plus, Firefox doesn't seem to play nice with my network, sometimes it won't connect to sites when Safari can. Drives me crazy.

Good luck with your paper (I just wrote one a couple nights ago *twitches from the horror*)

Is there a version of safari that supports tabbed browsing?

Or maybe something that changes firefox so it uses webkit to render pages instead of geeko?

Safari supports tabbed browsing. Check under the preferences- "Tabs", "Enable Tabbed Browsing".

I rock teh Camino. The alpha of version 1.0 is absolutely amazing. I haven't touched Safari in months.

Safari all the way for me.

I've tried a few other browsers (Firefox, Camino, Omniweb, etc.) and to me, they don't compare.

I'll also agree with Mad Jew on the integration thing. It's great.

Oh! So mine was disabled all along!

... :D

What's so good about Camino btw? It looks just like Firefox to me

I prefer Firefox because it has been deployed on several platforms and the experience on each platform helps to ensure a better chance of finding bugs and better resolution.

I also appreciate the extensions and the ability to use themes, although theming adds the possibility of instability.

bousozoku, I think that's the first time I've heard an objective reason as to why I should look further into Firefox. Some very nice reasoning there. :)

I use Firefox mostly, because Safari doesn't work all that well with my employer's intranet sites. Otherwise, I would use Safari.

The difference between Firefox and Camino is usually very obvious! Firefox looks like a wart on someone's butt, while Camino actually looks like a OS X- native application. Chimera/Camino was one of the original Mac browsers, predating both Safari and Firefox.

What's good about Camino is its light-weight, fast, and because its Cocoa, its hooked into all the OS X services (well, dictionary support is still on its way, but other than that…)

I wrote the Camino guide, check it out -> http://guides.macrumors.com/Camino

I use Safari because I have yet to find a compelling reason NOT to use it. I don't do anything fancy with my browser, so it isn't asked to jump through hoops. Usually have no problems.

Hmmm.. anyway the thing about Firefox that I can't let go off is Adblock, and A9 toolbar (it synchs my bookmarks everywhere I go.. with firefox that is)

Are there equivalent plugins for Camino or Safari?

Safari for me

Safari. It's fast enough that I can't see any problems with slow rendering. I am hooked on RSS, saving web pages for offline use, and keeping my bookmarks in sync for all my Macs, services support, and being able to report a problem to Apple from Safari.

I switched from being a hard core IE (Win) fanboy to Safari.

Camino has an awesome built-in adblock that is enabled out of the box. I haven't heard anything about an A9 plug-in.
