I'm the only one that picked Opera. I've been using it since 8.5 became free and I really like it. I was still using Jaguar and it was a way to get RSS feeds.

I've finally upgraded to Tiger and have been using Safari 2.0 lately with PithHelmet. So far so good.

BTW why is Opera italicized in the poll?

Opera. Can you get rid of the ugly brushed metal in Safari? Can you get tabs in Safari? If you can, then I might use that because of the built-in spellchecker.

Most of the time, same here.

I use Firefox only when Safari is giving me trouble, which is not too often.
There are some sites on which I prefer to use Firefox due to rendering glitches in other browsers. Since these are sites I visit regularly, both Safari and Firefox are open in my dock all the time.

You (r)eally should have IE if want a true representative survey
I agree. There's still some people who refuse to use anything else. The people I support at work (using Windows) are wary of the unknown, and will only use Firefox if I set it as default on their systems when I perform maintenance.

I do still have to use Windows IE due to a Direct-X combined with Java interface to deal with my payroll stuff at work (through ADP), and some sites will not work with WMP through Firefox. (Check out the "feedroom" on NBC4.com -- you press the button to 'load anyway on an unsupported browser' and the video never loads)

I recently switched back to Firefox from Safari because the text box editing tools (here at MR and in Wordpress) actually work with Firefox.

Firefox seems less stable overall -- the computer sometimes refuses to wake from sleep when I'm running it, and sometimes it decides not to copy and paste -- but it's a price I'm willing to pay in order to have decent text editing tools online.

firefox. . . is there any other browser???

Extensions:
Web Developer (can't get along without it)
AdBlock
googlebar
ForcastFox

safari. cause it looks the best! i think all the browsers generally provide the same functions. and i dont think safari is the fastest, or most efficient with memory allocation (firefox generally seems faster) but i just like the way safari looks with my PB. . . b/c really there isnt much difference in the browsers.

Point taken, I put "other" because I didn't think anyone would be using IE as it hasn't been developed for the past couple of years. Is there no other browser that would be similar to IE for Mac?

Safari and Camino. Safari for the spellcheck and integration and looks... Camino if/when Safari bogs down and gets too slow.

When on a Mac, I do use Safari.
Reasons:
1. It integrates well with the rest of the OS
2. Is good enough for day to day use.

When on any other platform (GNU/Linux or Windows) I do use Mozilla Firefox.
Reasons:
1. Stable.
2. More secure.
3. Adblock extension.
4. Open Source.

I have to say though that I either use OSX or GNU/Linux (at work) and didn't
touch an MS Windows machine in a looooooong time.

It was Firefox but I recently reverted to Safari and it works on 99.99% of the sites I visit. A lot snappier than before.

Why on earth is tabbed browsing off by default in Safari anyway?
Because it's an Apple product! Interfaces favor the beginner by default, and the things that make more experienced users happy are stashed away in the corner for when they're ready. (There are lots of Apple programs that don't do this any more, but for the most part they're programs bought from other companies.)

Safari is my main browser...used to use Firefox for problem sites, but that's becoming less and less frequent. Rendering is faster these days, and 2.0.2 upgrade has fixed a few more bugs. With the Debug menu enabled, I can do 99.9% of the things I want to do with Safari...

Safari, i don't see any point in changing. Everything I go on works fine. its all good with Safari.
