It sounds like the briefings are today. I don't expect any news today. It’s 7:37 AM in Cupertino. If they want to announce something today, they’ll do it around 10, in over two hours.

I fixed that for youIf you gonna call it a Pro, it better havea better selection ofports. Otherwise it should be called “MacBook Big”.
Nah. I thought it would be today also, but looks like a nope! It's 10:47 AM in New York where the supposed "private briefings" are happening. I would say that if there is an announcement today it will come at Noon ET/9AM PT.
I was strident today would be the announce date. Wrong with egg on my face

Why do you think you are wrong? Could very well be announced in an hour at their typical time. Or could be the next two days.
It is possible that 12PM or 1PM EST will net an announcement, so don’t throw in the towel just yet. Tuesday’s are their normal release days, but tomorrow is just as real a possibility too.I was strident today would be the announce date. Wrong with egg on my face

Seriously? That's your biggest worry. Won't the components be one-year-old anyway, after a year of ownership? And then two-years-old, and three and four...because most Apple users keep their Macs for several years. Case in point: TheAllMighty's post. I have a 2010 MBP that runs great! Also have a 2015 MBP, and wife has a 2014 Air. All run fabulous with years-old components. I'm just saying, I'd be more worried about the keyboard than I would one-year-old components. My biggest worry is it will be using nearly 1 year old components. We are not likely going to see updated Intel chips. We could see navi, which was needed. It is just really weird timing for Apple. We are just a few months away from a refreshed lineup. Even if we don't see a design change it will at least be using updated internals. If it is actually in production they can't sit on it long because they are already using old components that will be updated shortly. I just doubt seeing a Macbook Pro launch late November/December when all of the component manufacturers are later in their product cycle.
I'm guessing at this point in the day if nothing pops up in the next 90 minutes then something will either happen tomorrow or not at all this year. I have 13 days left to return my refurbished...
This article is basically the Macrumors version of "bump". This is the most over-reported story in a while. No new information in-- 6 weeks? But they keep publishing a "it's still coming... sometime" article at least once a week.

Maybe Apple could announce it and release it in the next year or two?
You know, I did not take into account that yesterday was a United States holiday. Perhaps that moved the schedule back a day. Okay, I feel better after reading those tweets.Keep the faith! Bloomberg tech reporter Mark Gurman says definitively that the 16" is coming this week. He claims review embargoes lift tomorrow, and the announcement is either today after the briefing or tomorrow.

He's usually pretty plugged in so I'm thinking this is really happening. I can't wait!
About as well as he understands just in time production lolThis guy here truly understands Apple.
I'll take a guess that many websites are doing nefarious things under the covers to make use of your CPU/GPU power
You mean more TB3 ports? I think we've covered this, it probably doesn't have enough PCIe lanes for that.it better have a better selection of ports
The same Bloomberg that made sweeping allegations of a massive attack on American companies, that every company involved, the US government, and even their own sources discredited as, and I believe I'm using the technical term here, "complete and utter ********"? Sure. Sounds reliable.Bloomberg tech reporter Mark Gurman
Gurman is generally reliable. Not 100%, but he got that job at Bloomberg because of his sources at Apple. If he's tweeting this, it's happening. With chrome you don't even need a nefarious website to imitate a G5 PM booting up (arguably louder than a jet engine IMO)

Gurman is separate from that fiasco. When he was at 9to5mac, he had an extremely high rate of accuracy. He is personally well-sourced.The same Bloomberg that made sweeping allegations of a massive attack on American companies, that every company involved, the US government, and even their own sources discredited as, and I believe I'm using the technical term here, "complete and utter ********"? I enabled MacRumors notifications so I wouldn't have to do that.Anyone else desperately waiting for this and refreshing Apple's Newsroom every window of opportunity? Dang it I needed a new laptop like 6 months ago. Just release the stupid thing already.
The touchbar is here to stay. It was just introduced this year in the 13" MBP. It's not going away. I personally love it.
The best some of you can hope for is that it's made optional.
