There actually was a topic saying the launch was ”imminent“ on the mbp forums. Though I think thats the only one

That post was clearly an attention seeker/troll. For as long as I've been here I struggle to remember a time when a forum user has beaten the various rumour sites and journalists to an exclusive like that. It has happened, but its incredibly rare.

I still think the best indicator that this is indeed coming soon is the fact its icon is in the software builds.

I think it is very important for Apple to make it right. Damage to MacBook legacy coming from unbalanced design decisions (keyboard, magsafe, ports, functional keys, 128 GB, and, funny enough, shining logo on the back screen) is lasting. When combined with unstable OS and Apple Pricing (TM) things just go they too far.

Is Apple a Streaming/Cloud, but not hardware company now?

Worst of all is that pro user supposed to have the ability replace some parts of device that shouldn't involve soldering process. https://bgr.com/2016/11/18/macbook-pro-2016-ssd-data/

I guess the starting price will be $2,999.99 for the entry level and top of the line model start around $3,899.00 and with everything $5,999.99.

My mid-2010 15-inch MBP just died a few days ago, so I really need them to release it ASAP! Nine years was a pretty good run though. I hope when I shell out $4K for the 16-inch, it will be as reliable.
question is would you risk it with new hardware or go for a 2019 model that has most of the issues ironed out?

I used to look forward for MacBooks, but after getting one that builds heat just for running a browser... these are no longer PRO machines. Get the cheaper Air for mobility, and if you need to do work get a desktop.

From an article elsewhere, Apple are having problems in the manufacturer of the NEW keyboard.

This is all what happens when a supply chain guy runs a company, not an intelligent visionary / semi engineer like Jobs, who 'got' product design. The fruit iMac, iPod, iPhone & iPad all arrived under his watch, he got 90% of the design right on those, only flaw in iMac was the hocky puck mouse.

He could hold something in his hand and see the flaws.

A visionary/creative industrial designer will iterate flaws in a product at the DESIGN stage, not when it's out in the market place. I have a 2019 i9 MacBook Pro that I had to buy for 4K video editing because I cannot stand Windows, despite the Windows hardware today (such as from Lenovo, HP and Dell) being far more innovative and creative friendly. (I have an X1 Yoga ThinkPad too, not powerful enough for high end work, but a joy to use, with built in stylus slot!)

Me thinks Apple have screwed up the 16" by Tim Cook wanting to use up unsold inventory of the 15" and so they are trying to cram better electronics and a new keyboard into the SAME space in the lower half of the laptop.

We have a 2017 MSI gaming laptop with a GTX 1060 GPU. It's thick, has lots of ports, and very fast, and cost 1/3 the price of my MacBook. And it's modular, we added 1TB SSD after purchase, and can swap out many other bits to keep it relevant.

The new MB needs to be 5mm thicker, have water cooling, not just fans, so it's quieter and allow the user to swap out the RAM and SSD drive, and even the GPU if possible, like the desktop Mac Pro due out any moment. Ideally, it will have a flip screen and pen input too, but I think Tim just wants to sell more iPads so not going to happen.

Apple's widely rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro is likely still coming based on recent supply chain checks by IDC analyst Jitesh Ubrani and Forbes contributor Brooke Crothers, but release timing remains unclear. Crothers is a former contributor to CNET, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal in Asia.

16-inch MacBook Pro concept

"We were expecting an announcement in October," Ubrani said in an email, according to Crothers. October came and went without an announcement, but Ubrani added that his research firm is "starting to see early signs" of the notebook within Apple's supply chain. "However, the timing of this is still uncertain," he said.

Crothers said he has heard similar, writing that "a source in Asia who talks to the Apple supply chain told me over the weekend that the 16-inch [MacBook Pro] is in production but the release date is unclear."

This information lines up with a recent DigiTimes report that claimed Apple will begin receiving volume shipments of the 16-inch MacBook Pro this quarter, possibly to sidestep a 15 percent import tariff on notebooks slated to take effect December 15. If accurate, mass production is likely underway.

Rumors suggest the 16-inch MacBook Pro will feature slimmer bezels around the display, a more reliable scissor switch keyboard, a standalone Touch ID sensor, and possibly a much-requested physical Esc key. Pricing is unknown, but would likely be higher than the $2,799 high-end 15-inch MacBook Pro.

I agree with a lot what you say but water cooling? Come on.

Also it's not going to be the 15'' footprint. From the new leaks it looks like the bezels will only be slightly smaller and thus the body a bit larger to fit the 16'' screen.

Unfortunately the bezels won't be as small as in the concept image.

Yeah, that's not what they do though. Not sure how long you've followed Apple but they don't confirm nor deny rumors. That's not trolling, that's SOP.
A bit of a non-sequitur reply, I didn't say anything about confirming or denying rumours, I was talking about the form factor from the direct-from-Apple OS leaks?

This guy here truly understands Apple.

Touch ID in macbooks pros only Macs is a real shame, they should incorporate Face ID ASAP in their iMac and 6Kpxl-5KUSD screen
or make Touch ID keyboards.

Steve Jobs wouldn't allow this mess, so many iPads, so many Macbooks, so many iMacs, so Mac pros (laugh)

I notice the same thing. I'll take a guess that many websites are doing nefarious things under the covers to make use of your CPU/GPU power... crypto currency mining for example. The website may not look like it's doing anything (no animations/videos/audio), but it's using every bit of spare CPU/GPU you have which will heat it up. Try going to an Apple site to see if it cools off, then go back to some other website to see if it heats up again. Welcome to the world where everything needs to be turned into profit.

This is the only Apple show I'm interested in seeing this fall:

A true return to form of the MacBook Pro, released soon, with a decent keyboard and without the fetid Touch Bar abomination.

Looking back at the Airpods Pro presser, the event was on the 28th, and the 29th started to see the write ups. So, I guess if the event is today, we will see media announcements tomorrow?

Oh my! I don’t understand the need to replace your macs so soon!, I have an MacBook Pro 2012 with upgraded ram to 16 gb, runs photoshop, after effects and iMovie just fine!

am I missing something m?

Your 2012 MBP runs After Effects with 16GB Ram just fine? Am *I* missing something?

If you gonna call it a Pro, it better have a better selection of ports. Otherwise it should be called “MacBook Big”.

I’m so glad I don’t do work that requires a laptop. No thank you Lol.

27” 5K iMac + 12.9” iPad Pro. A beautiful and powerful setup.

The lack of ports. The overheating. The keyboard. Sooo many issues with notebooks.

That is what Gurman says, press briefings today, embargo released tomorrow. Question of when they put it up to order though.

Actually, just scrolling a website tends to fire up the GPU, no need for anything nefarious.

I'm guessing at this point in the day if nothing pops up in the next 90 minutes then something will either happen tomorrow or not at all this year. I have 13 days left to return my refurbished maxed out 2019 15inch and I would really like something with a slightly better GPU than the Vega 20 so fingers crossed. Also in all my years supporting Apple I can't think of a single product that has had more rumors, theories, and articles posted about it without it even being released. We've been hearing about this supposed 16inch MacBook Pro since January if not even before then.

It’s 7:37 AM in Cupertino. If they want to announce something today, they’ll do it around 10, in over two hours.
