Sponsored posts within threads

I am starting to see a lot of sponsored posts within threads, well at least 1 in each thread, it shows up as a post. Has this just started today. Never seen it before.
 
I noticed it too and reported it to the site admins. Odd.

It's all relative. I'd rather have sponsored posts than that obnoxious auto-dropdown-on-rollover Roundups tab. It's always in my face, and I don't care about its contents - ever.

ya, it's a new ad formatting we're testing. They aren't entirely new. There were ads there before, they were just formatted differently.

I understand you need ads to run the site, but including the ad in a forum post like this is distracting. The existing format with the ad at the bottom of the thread, but not in a post, is much less intrusive. JMO :)
 
I didn't mind with the ads at the bottom, but these are really hard to differentiate between normal posts and a lot are in obnoxious font sizes making them very distracting.

Ya I get you. They are a bit jarring if you aren't used to it. Give it a little time. There may be more changes.

I understand that it costs a lot to run the site and advertising is a key source of revenue, but I really don't like the new sponsored adds in the posts, it is really putting me off using the site. I am so used to skimming the posts and the new in-post adds are pretty jarring.

I understand why you are testing the new adds, but my feedback is i really dislike them.

Yup, this is new. I noticed this today. I guess they're really pushing ads due to high bandwidth usage. There are so many members. :eek:

Oddly enough it doesn't show up in this specific thread.

They appear to be dynamically generated because that ad isn't there for me.
 
Hate, please put them back to the previous format so ads are separate from user content.

Absolutely ridiculous - please let me know that this will NOT continue so I don't have to cancel my membership.

Ads like these are misleading, deceptive and dishonest - just like the worst kind of IAP.
 
Not a fan of adverts that pretend to be content. Everyone (Twitter/Facebook/Gmail) is doing them now.

It does get rid of almost all ads. Looks like the description isn't accurate.

Rids front page, and forum ads. Doesn't get rid of article page ads, and possibly some special case ones.

Seems like an experiment to see how much you can monetize the users while only running some of them off.
