Ok, I admit I created my thread title to get "32gb and 64gb owners that lack self confidence" in here but mainly I just wanted to encourage fellow 16gb ipad 3 owners. I just got down setting up my 16gb wifi only iPad just as I want it and want to share with you how it's filled. My main space filling app is called Logos. It's a Bible app that works in conjuction with software on my laptop. It takes up 5.2gb because I downloaded 1290 resources that I own (bibles, commentaries, magazines, dictionaries, books, etc). I have 25 game apps including Modern Combat 3 (1.8gb) and Real Racing 2 HD (1.1gb) and Dungeon Defenders (949mb).
I have ibooks and Khan Academy and iTunes U for more learningI have Netflix so that I can watch all the old shows I like to watch. And i have 462mb left over
I have a 64gb iphone where I keep my music and pictures. I never download movies.
So there you go. I have more books loaded on my iPad than I will ever be able to read. More games than I ever have time to play (and gaming is one of my biggest hobbies). And in those 2 things, i'm 100% mobile since my games and books are downloaded. Now if i want to watch Netflix, i have to be on Wifi.
Point of this post: 16gb is PERFECT for MEEEE at this exact time and people need to stop coming on Macrumors and hyperventilating that they won't be able to put 20gb of music, 20gb of movies, 10gb of games and 10gb of pictures/videos on their iPad.
I will say though since I find my iphone much more convenient to use I will always get the max capacity for it (64gb right now).
But if someone wanted to buy a 64gb iPad to store most all their stuff and a 16gb iphone just for reading material I wouldn't say they made a bad decision they will regret. I would understand MY NEEDS ARE NOT THEIR NEEDS and be happy for them that they could afford an ios device![]()
you lost all credibility at "Bible app".
you lost all credibility at "Bible app".
Enjoy your purchase. Stop making dumb threads.
I like how you are trying to justify your purchase for what you picked for yourself towards everyone else...as if anyone really cares on what you do.
Buying the new iPad? You might want to double that storage

Takeaway: If youre buying a new iPad, take into account that app sizes have reportedly more than doubled to take advantage of the Retina display. 16GB might not cut it any more.
Just before the new iPads hit the stores, would-be consumers might want to consider that the 16GB that has served you well in the past might get eaten up a lot quicker now that the Retina display has become the hallmark feature.
Meghan Kelly of the Washington Post reports that the iPad apps have swollen in size to meet the new displays high-definition potential. Kelly gives the hat tip to Vietnamese tech blog Tinhte for pointing out the difference in app sizes (translated post):
Thats a huge increase and a potential suck on data storage in even the newest 16GB iPad. Because Apple wants apps in the App Store to work universally with any of its mobile devices, the company isnt going to make an exception for the new display. We checked the App Store to see if the Pages app had actually increased to 269MB, and indeed it has.
The Cult of Mac blog also reports that iPad apps have more than doubled in size and offers their own comparison (youll note a discrepancy in the reported size of the Pages app between the blogs; 269MB is the number listed in the App Store):
APP iPad2 iPad Retina
Keynote 110MB 327MB
Numbers 104MB 375MB
Pages 89MB 331MB
iMovie 82MB 404MB
iPhoto N/A 129MB
This could make a significant difference to iPad users who are app-aholics. If youve settled for 16GB in the past, you might want to consider your needs (or wants) and go for the 32GB or 64GB version instead.
+1
not everyone has the same usage & storage pattern as you. moreover, you're trying too hard to convince others that 16gb is the 'sweet spot'. somewhere in there, i think you're overcompensating for your choice.
my next ipad purchase will be at least 64gb (currently have a 32gb ipad2).

This is EXACTLY why I made my OP! Thanks for the helpSo many of you are buying a certain size iPad because of what a random internet article written by a random internet guy tells you based on a random collection of data INSTEAD OF buying something based solely on YOUR needs/wants and not the theoretically (or actual) app size of apps you will NEVER use.
I read the Bible, and I believe there are valid reasons for war. Violence is necessary in war. I am also against, violence for violence sake (Any horror movie like Hostel or whatever....)
I could use one with 128gig, actually.
I think it's funny how people make assumptions, as to a couple of comments, he never said anything about his personal beliefs, for all you know he could be an Atheist doing research into the Bible for a paper he's writing on Atheism. He didn't say anything about his beliefs.
As to losing credibility on mentioning "Bible app" = grow up. Whatever your beliefs are, be tolerant.
Lastly, he's just saying what his experience is. I got a 64 gb but thats me, and thats what works for me. It's not like if I hadn't read this meaningless thread I wouldn't have read another one just as meaningless instead.
You cared enough to post. Otherwise, you would have just moved on.I like how you are trying to justify your purchase for what you picked for yourself towards everyone else...as if anyone really cares on what you do.
If you know anything about the Bible, you know that God led His people into battle. Also, if you can't make a distinction between violence against innocents (like in Grand Theft Auto) and violence against an enemy, then you need to do more thinking about the topic of violence and war.
