Only 462MB left over is dangerously low. No room for browsing caches or general application background functions.

I read your initial post to say that you only have about 500MB left on day one after installing a bunch of apps. But many of those apps are going to double or triple in size once they become Retina-ready, and you'll be forced to choose which apps to keep and which ones to toss when you want new ones. For another $100, I bought the 32GB version so I won't have to worry about that, and I like to think that a little more space helps to future-proof it a bit for the next few years. (I may have went a little overboard in that respect getting the 1st gen 64GB with 3G- I didn't even use half the space, and I activated 3G may three times in total, but 32GB is the sweet spot.)

All the OP needs to do, is to add 'For Me' ant the end of the thread title, to avoid a flame war.
That is, unless he's enjoying the 'attention'.
After two years of managing content on 16GB iPads, I'm glad that is no longer an issue, with my 64GB. :D

Ridiculous thread.

It's like me saying my size 9 shoes (UK) are perfect for everyone, lol.

There most certainly will be people for whom 16gb is the perfect size - my mum has an iPad 1, there's always about 10gb free. If you have to make a thread about it? Methinks though protesteth too much.

From the car threads, v6 vs v8, to this. If you're happy, be happy with your purchase.

My first gen 32 is full, so I had to move to 64 this time around. I use my credit card to get free iTunes cards... so I tend to buy a lot of apps. Plus I'm a developer, so I'm always testing on my assortment of devices.

I had a v8 '09 Challenger RT, traded for a v6 '11 Camaro RS after the Dodge revealed itself as a lemon. Too any problems to name. Even trade after 2 years of ownership, no extra money out of pocket and I actually saved money because the dealer didn't know I paid less than employee price.

Anyway, do what works for you. Oddly, I don't even drive the car these days, weekend cruiser, where the iPad has become part of my daily commute.

This thread.... religion is a hell of a drug.

I bought 64 'coz I ain't goin' to heaven and I need all the room on Earth I can get.

Point of this post: 16gb is PERFECT for MEEEE at this exact time and people need to stop coming on Macrumors and hyperventilating that they won't be able to put 20gb of music, 20gb of movies, 10gb of games and 10gb of pictures/videos on their iPad.

if the point of this thread is just to say that the 16GB is perfect for YOU, then why do you criticize other people saying that they don't have enough space on their iPads? Their needs are simply different from yours. By adding this sentence about people "hyperventilating" over not enough space, you're coming off as gloating at people who want to put more than 16 GB of stuff on their iPads.

I honestly think the 16GB is bottom of the barrel and they should have left it back with the iPad 2 and started with 32GB on the "New iPad".

I think apps will only get bigger and bigger with the beautiful Retina display. Along with publications will get larger as they increase the quality of the books and graphics.

This is just my opinion but from what I have read most people feel this way too!!

I'll bet he stands outside abortion clinics with angry signs and supports that fanatic sanatorium.

Back from out of town and loving that this thread keeps going because people keep assuming I stated that 16gb is perfect for everyone when I said it is perfect for me. Also, got rid of some of my duplicate books that were filled with images in the Logos app and I'm back up to 1gb free and didn't delete any games (in fact added about 7 board game/chess apps).

It is perfect for me even though I'm close to full now because I am fine "managing" my apps and saved $215 or so off the 64gb because of that willingness :)

I'm fine with people coming in here and saying the 64gb is perfect for THEM. It doesn't change my post or make my statements incorrect. But the people that come in here and get angry are amusing. Even imeth sent me a personal message making fun of me and calling me poor. The quality of people on this message board seems to be quite low at times....
