I have two now. One I ordered way back in January and it arrived about 3-4 weeks ago. This one I ordered last week. A good friend of mine is taking this one off my hands.

dont rub it in,

I ordered another 17" PB last Wednesday through ADC. It shipped yesterday. I'm not trying to piss off people who have been waiting since January, but ADC really seems to expedite the process.

The dont mention it to people like me, who is till waiting and reading so much info on these thigs so i know as much as i can, just binding my time.

Photos of 17 Powerbook

These are a few things you can get at Radtech. I got the Powersleeve and screensaver for the LCD. They also have other Powerbook STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

biggest 17 inch complaint

the battery life is horrible, does anyone know how to justify the 4.5 hours? i can barely get 2.5 and that is with backlight half way down
how do i even get 4.5, even if it isnt usable?
~Andreas

i got mine on monday, after a long waiting period, and i must say I'm very impressed... only one thing i don't like, i keep hitting the "caps lock" key instead of the "a" key. Other than that, it's sweet. Oh, and for the person asking about the battery life, you're supposed to calibrate your battery before you use it. Did you let the battery drain all the way the first time you used it?

With the screen all of the way down I was able to hit 4 hours just recording a lecture.

The less you activate the hard drive and speakers, the longer the run time will be.

It's coming!

I just got a call from my reseller saying my powerbook will be delivered to Apple Australia tomorrow, and then delivered to my reseller by Monday! (unless Apple Australia are very efficient and courier it there tomorrow!)

How amazing!!! The waiting is almost over!

Thanks to all you guys who have posted reviews and pics.

;)

Don't cancel out of frustration... Cancel if you don't really need it.

Mate, it's hard waiting especially if you don't get any feedback about when it will be coming in, but you'll just be kicking yourself if you cancel and then it arrives the following week.

But then, if it's mainly because you don't really need it and can wait for the next big thing... It might be worth cancelling, after all it is a LOT of money.

Anyway, my advice is not to do it out of frustration, but because there are good reasons to cancel.

yeah well im still thinking about it yes i do need it it seems great but im a new mac use rim a pc user right now and need the portability for my multimedia work, hopefully its good for video editing.

But no shippingdate and no knowing when they coming in. what kind of buisiness is that?

hey riko (sounds like starship troopers), you really don't know what you'd be cancelling on. Trust me, i know what you're going through. I went to cancel my order through my campus bookstore, but they wouldn't let me. However, I am sooo glad that I didn't cancel the order. This machine is sooo sweet. You will love it. I have some questions for you tho... are you saving any money by buying it through your vendor? Cause if you're not you should just walk up to the apple store, and get one from there... they sometimes have them in stock. Good luck man... oh, for everyone else, since i'm new to OSX, is there anyway to make copies of DVD's that I own, not the Blockbuster ones... cause i know it's a law that I can have one backup of everything (media wise) that I own.

You can always make copies of media that you "created" - not necessarily own. The law doesn't give you the right to purchase "The Matrix" on DVD and then burn it because you own it. That is called copyright infringement. You can, of course, back up whatever data that you own.

Actually, I believe it does. As long as you own it, you can make whatever copies you want, so long as you don't give those copies to anyone else outside of your household, or sell it to anyone, or use your copy to be viewed outside of your home for viewing by a mass audience. When you purchase a DVD or video, you are purchasing a home viewing license. If you want to make a copy and view that copy instead of your original, that is not copyright infringement, as I understand it. I could be wrong. I'm not a copyright attorney, but I play one on tv.
