I can't seem to figure out how to do an annual subscription via in-app purchase in either iOS or Mac version 6.x. I only see the monthly option. Anyone have any suggestions on how to do the annual subscription via in-app?

I hope they update their website to clear up the confusion between the purchased app and the licensed app. Purchase used to be available at agilebits.com, but now that domain redirects to 1password.com with no mention of a purchase option.

If I purchase a full license for version 7 for use on the Mac do I need to purchase a new version for iOS if the version I currently own came out prior to the subscription based option?

You you use the Eero mesh wifi system, you get their plus service with content screening. It also includes a 5 user family license of 1Password. The normal cost is $99 per year, but they're running a 30% promo that brings the cost down to about $5.75 per month. Personally, haven't decided if I am going to do this or not, and not because of 1Password, I want other features that the plan brings. It's just that I have a strong aversion to subscription software.

That said, I really don't like the direction that this is headed. This is really nothing more than a GUI refresh in my opinion, and an excuse to start a service model. I would happily pay a one-time upgrade fee, say $20-30, as I recognize that there is ongoing development work required. But a service model? No thanks.

There's a lot of features added that don't apply to the subscription side. I'd really recommend giving it a try but a list of things that aren't UI related:

* New Watchtower that adds in Expired Credit Cards and Passport items, sites missing 2FA, sites using http:// instead of https://, haveibeenpwned integration
* Markdown in secure notes
* 2FA items are elevated in the item details
* If you open Mini while in another app (like iTunes or the App Store) it'll show related login items for easier copy/paste
* Duplicate item checking
* Speed improvements galore, by combining the main app and mini app into one process we gained some serious speed improvements all around.
* A new sidebar that while partially UI also adds some real awesome features like ability to drag and drop items between vaults instead of using the weird funky copy/move menus we had before

There are a few more, and we have some more planned for 7.1. On top of this a new mini, a whole new design of the main app, item detail view improvements, there's a lot there.

You'll create an account and choose the monthly option this puts you in the 30 day trial. Now goto the app store description and you'll see a list of In-app purchases. Choose the appropriate yearly option and it should open it in 1Password and you'll be set.

Purchasing is only done in app now. There won't be (at least for now) a link on the webpage to purchase it directly.

No, version 7 doesn't require a new purchase if you already purchased the Pro features for it.

@AGKyle Is there a place for posting suggestions and/or bugs. I looked at your forum and wasn't sure if that was the right place, since the forum is broken down by client. (Some of the suggestion are client specific, others are more generic.)

I have been a satisfied 1Password user for several years and have been using the one-time payment license for awhile now. I just switched over to the family subscription model for several reasons:

1) I want to start encouraging my family to use a good password manager. (my wife uses post-it notes and my son just went away to college.)

2) I wanted to setup a shared vault between my wife and I (only) that has all our financial login information in case I am ever incapacitated. Right now, she would be in trouble trying to find all our financial records (especially since most of my stuff is paperless).

3) I do want to support vendors who put efforts in improving their applications.

You can direct message me on here if that's convenient, or you can post to the forum category on our site that most closely matches what you're adding feedback to. Our team will separate out the feedback and put it in the right place internally.

Really, whatever is convenient for you, we'll do the grunt work.

It is interesting to me that they depart from the default Cocoa style with this release, with this solid charcoal-coloured sidebar and many custom components. It looks different compared to the iOS app as well (which has bright blue tones).

I will be holding out until the iOS release before I decide.

1Password for iOS is already on v7. It was upgraded before Mac.

Also, the 1P Mini doesn't fully support Dark Mode in High Sierra:

Nor does it appear as if this left side column can be resized so that the "Social Security Numbers" category name is no longer truncated.

Yup, this one is known. We have some more work to do with dark mode, but we did what we could given the time constraints. It's a massive job getting it where it is now :) Almost none of it comes free for having the light mode version. Expect to see improvements in future updates

More to the point, who doesn't use Dark Mode everywhere by default anyway? Can I really trust someone who doesn't use it? o_O

What's next, you use the light theme in Discord too? WHERE DOES IT END‽ :p

I use dark mode, or did, but when we started developing the new mini I had to switch away because there were far more important things to deal with instead of dark mode. It's a ground up rewrite of the mini app so there was a lot missing that needed to be there. We've done a couple dark mode improvement changes but it's still not where we'd like to see it either.

Turns out though, most of our developers do not use dark mode. I think I might be the only one that does :)

1Password for iOS is already on v7. It was upgraded before Mac.

I am a bit reluctant to purchase a licence without knowing how long the support will be. Can we rely on past releases in that regard? 1Password 6 was released in the beginning of 2016. If this version will be supported for at least two years, then the purchase price will be similar to what subscribers would pay, assuming that version 8 will be another paid upgrade.

Anything I could say here would be speculation. We don't, and have never, had a set release cycle. However if you look at historical data I think it is fair to say that the average time between major releases is about two years. There may be some variation on that, but we just launched 1Password 7 an hour ago. We haven't even begun to talk internally about when a "1Password 8" might happen yet.

I installed the new version and installed the Firefox plugin. But I so far have two issues.
  1. When I click the 1P button in Firefox (v60.0.1) it doesn't do anything. I've installed it twice.
  2. When I'm in the 1P app and click on a website to 'open & fill' or just to 'open', it brings me back to Firefox and then does nothing. I'm still on the last page/tab that I was before switching to 1P.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Try restarting both 1Password (open the main window, hold Control+Option and choose Quit 1Password Completely) and Firefox.

Also, make sure you have the old 1Password in the trash or deleted. It's possible it's trying to launch a part of 1Password 6 instead of the requisite 1Password 7 components.

I was being tongue in cheek, sorry if that wasn't clear! :D

I've only played with 1P7 a little bit, checked that I H'nt been P'd anywhere and such, but I can safely say it looks great :)

I love the new look of the Mini, having access to literally everything I would previously need to open the full app to properly view & manage is awesome.

Oh, I knew but perhaps my body is still wishing it was sleepy time and I didn't think to try to have some fun with you. :)

That said, we do want Dark Mode to be better, or at least, I do since I use it. I'll keep hounding the others to keep on top of it.

I'm really glad you like the new mini, it has been a bit polarizing for some people so having good feedback helps a lot as well as hearing the bad on this particular topic.
