How you expect them operate with servers and the pricing then ? One time pricing is gone
What they definitely don't cost, is the 36$ a year that they expect you to pay. Therefore I said "not worth that much".What about the server hosting customer encrypted data? They are free to operate?
It performs very well, arguably better than the previous version, I have been using the betas on iOS and Mac for some time now. Glitches, memory leaks, interface issues have all been fixed over time just as in any new piece of software.Ug, isn't this the version that isn't native anymore and is a resource hog?
Their last funding round was $620 million valuing the company at $6.8 billion. I wish I could destroy myself that hard.Sad to watch a great company destroy itself. I'd be a loyal purchaser if they still offered the standalone model and private vault support. Makes you look at them a bit sideways, suspect ulterior motives in centralizing our databases... 🤔
BitWarden might be what you're looking for.Glad to hear it as I am still using 1password. Will probably migrate off eventually and use Keychain as I hate supscriptions.
I'm a long-time customer, but am going to drop my subscription. They've abandoned basic features that used to be part of their app, and have neglected to address them despite the issue being raised by multiple customers.

I do like the family-sharing of passwords, but I can't rely on their solution anymore.
kinda what I was thinking. It's worked out fine with going Evernote to Notes. I was loyal to 1P until these last iterations. 1P really starting to feel like a lot of bloat and Apple is making progress - although it did recently fail to save a suggested password in the keychain. That still happens time-to-time.For the first time in 14 years, I’ve uninstalled 1Password from all my devices. I have no need for it anymore ever since Apple Passwords.
Bye, was good while it lasted.
Me too. Been using it since 4.x. The one thing they've built with me over the years is trust. They did a good job of explaining how/why their application was so secure. I dont have the same trust for the many alternates popping up. Probably just need to read up on them more.I have been a proud supporter of this company since the original version came out… until this one.
It was SO EASY to switch to Bitwarden I’m sorry I didn’t do it sooner when the writing was already on the wall. To hell with 1Password.
bingoBut the value to *me* for what it cost when they went subscription didn’t justify not considering the native iOS option, which has also continued to get better.
I switched to Minimalist almost a year ago and love it. Only issue is some of the fields in Ventura beta, but that's beta so I expect something eventually. I didn't even think about using backups with my wife, that's a great idea! I've had backups set up for a while, but shared vaults is my top request. Their team is very responsive, I've sent them multiple messages.I paid for 1P years ago, both on Mac & IOS, then sadly went to subscription and took away WiFi sync for my wife to stay up to date. Recently switched to Minimalist (read about it in a thread on here) and gave it a try. Native IOS, simple to import all of my 1P data, extremely quick, devs quick to respond. Currently no vaults which they advise they are working on. I purchased the lifetime to help them along with their future endeavors. Plus I can simply send the back up to my wife to keep her up to date until they release their version of vaults.
I am seeing the same thing with 1Password 8 on my MacBook. I’m pleasantly surprised how good it is.It [Version 8] uses the exact same amount of resources on my MBP 2021 as Version 7 (within 3MB of RAM, sometimes higher, sometimes lower, which is negligible and within margin of error). So I still have not found the resource hog version. If you find it feel free to link it.
So the version 7 is the last version w/ local vaults and optional subscription?I really hope that the latest 7.x release continues working in future versions of macOS and iOS. Since removing local vaults, I have decided I will not upgrade, as I do not trust my password vault to be stored in anyone's cloud, including 1Password's. It's sad for me, as I've been a customer since 3.x.
On desktop yes, but Electron apps are not allowed on the App Store so this has to be either native or using some kind of cross platform framework that still outputs a native binaryUg, isn't this the version that isn't native anymore and is a resource hog?
I've tried a few that are free and work just as well. I used to be a big 1Password guy but I see no use for it anymore. They're going to subscription themselves out of jobs.. lol.Man, I used to be a diehard 1Password guy. When they went to subscriptions I moved to the native iOS function, which has got progressively better.
Death by micro transactions. Could prob pay annually instead of monthly, but I don’t feel compelled with the native function working well.
That's silly. Thanks for the info! They put it as a separate store app, 1Password 8
Did you actually notice it hogging resources or are you just generally hating on Electron and other bloated apps that are based on it?I care, I don't tend to like resource hog apps written in a bloated language so the dev can save $$. I'd gladly have paid a reasonable amount more if they hadn't moved to Electron.

Understanding the 1Password Move to Electron
People are up in arms about the 1Password move to Electron on macOS. It seems like a bad call, but it is also a necessary one for older Macs.www.macobserver.com
Exactly, lol. People tend to forget its a Business and they will need growth and new avenues and profits. It's not Bitwarden or some community side project lol.Their last funding round was $620 million valuing the company at $6.8 billion. I wish I could destroy myself that hard.
