I also tried for about a month or two but it was no use. I got excited after Ventura beta came out and showcased Passkeys. It'll work when Passkeys is adopted, but definitely 1Password reigns for now.
1Password has already announced they will be support Passkeys as well as they are members of the FIDO alliance.

I've just tried out my Bitwarden account and app again, just to see if I was being unfair - it's torturous to use, sorry. GUI is awful, I can't do it. Love the back end, that it's open source etc - but it's not a good user experience.

I noticed one thing tho... the tags inside Tags section are not displayed in the hierarchical order. This I don't like. :(

Couldn't agree more!

Literature and Latte has a great app with Scrivener. Version updates do take a tremendous amount of time, and there are some major differences and sync issues between the Mac/Windows/Mobile app versions as well.
AgileBits like you said, chose to be a bigger company than Literature and Latte, Devonthink, etc. AgileBits never said they are going to stay and be some small company. They have every right to grow or not grow as they please just as we do to use or not use their software.
Exactly, I definitely have the ability to not use their software.

Regarding using Apple Passwords instead of 1Password, I tested switching last month. Until Apple let's you name entries, add multiple domains to the same login, and add passwords that aren't for a website (devices, door codes, etc.) it doesn't even come close to 1Password. I'd love to switch to Apple, especially with Passkeys on the horizon, but currently it's just not a replacement for 1Password for me.
It's not an either/or situation. I quite happily use both keychain and 1Password.

Everyone knows that Bitwarden is an Electron app as well, right? Which looks as native on MacOS as deep dish pizza in New York? And is only $10 a year cheaper for a family?

For the marginal price difference I'm sticking with 1Password.
Bitwarden would cost me more. I have the family plan and the guest vaults are awesome. My wife and I use the guest vaults for work vaults and my 1 kid does too. I would have to get 2 family accounts with Bitwarden to do the same, costing me $80 a year.

The secret key is also a selling point. Your master password could be 12345 (the same as my luggage 😂) and still be protected with the secret key. An attacker can get my master password, but if they don’t have the secrets key, they can’t get in.

Man, I used to be a diehard 1Password guy. When they went to subscriptions I moved to the native iOS function, which has got progressively better.
I can't imagine voluntarily trusting that kind of data to a service run by Apple.

I completely understand the 1Password use case not being a fit for people as the product changes. The vitriol some people here show toward it however, makes no sense to me at all. The amount of "1P is dead to me" is just so strange. The product provides a beautiful, easy to use, secure cross platform tool...If you dont like it fine, if you are against subs I totally get it, but to smear it so much just seems strange.

Their last funding round was $620 million valuing the company at $6.8 billion. I wish I could destroy myself that hard.
They're not destroying themselves..yet. They swapped customer's security for more funding. One day they'll be hacked, and all that massive centralized database of passwords will cause so much pain and sorrow for their customers ( and probably have lives destroyed ), they'll never recover from it.
But they'll all be rich nevertheless. I guess that all that matters to them.

Death by micro transactions. Could prob pay annually instead of monthly, but I don’t feel compelled with the native function working well.
For me, it's combination of things. I used 1Password to store among my most important things. That requires
  • That I can store my data on the storage of my choice, whether it be local storage only, iCloud, Dropbox, or 1Password's
  • Access to my data is not tied to subscription
For now, 1Password remains superior to Apple's implementation with multiple categorizes, multiple vaults, and watch tower. But I am still slowly migrating. All of my common logins have migrated to iCloud as 1Password is in strictly read only mode.

I have stuck with 1Password for the same reason (the secret key).

Ten years ago I would have. Now I can't rely on iCloud to sync bookmarks properly and while I have never had any issues with keychain I am would not trust hundreds of vital passwords to it anymore.

Please stop giving AgileBits free advertising. 1Password 8 is an unmitigated disaster, and the developers (especially the founder) don’t seem to care. I honestly hope their hubris is their undoing.
It is not a disaster, it's a successful and useful password management application, and system. If you don't feel it works for you, that's fine but it would be nice if you stopped spreading fud.

For the first time in 14 years, I’ve uninstalled 1Password from all my devices. I have no need for it anymore ever since Apple Passwords.

Bye, was good while it lasted.
I did a couple years ago. I'm not against subscriptions (though generally I'm less likely to use them), but I didn't really want to pay for something when I was getting 95% of the same functionality that I used natively.

1Password has done a lot of great things for third party apps for a long time; I just don't need them anymore.

Bitwarden is crossplatform, feature rich, customizable, multi-user, modern solution, open source for free or $10/year
Another thing that is beaten with a Bitwarden, open source. I can name 2 issues that the programs were open source and had issues for years and years before anyone cause it. Meanwhile, attackers were using the issues for their own good. Log4j and the Heartbleed bug are the 2 big ones that I can think of off hand. I think the one issue with Equifax was from a program that was open sourced. Is open source stuff good? Yes, but it can’t be the only selling point.

1Password has audits. As long as they pass the audits, I’m not worried.
As for the price, it would cost me more with Bitwarden’s family plan. Before the users in 1Password and the guest vaults, I have about 9-10 separate vaults, so with Bitwarden, I would need 2 family plans…. Costing me more than 1Password.

Bitwarden isn’t bad, and I’ll recommend it also. I don’t think it’s as polished as 1Password, but that’s my opinion. As someone said also, Bitwarden’s Mac app is also electron. I hated election apps until I gave 1Password a chance and I think it’s one of the best apps I have on my MacBook. Bitwarden is probably one of the best free password managers, but it doesn’t do what I need it to do.

1Password is the only subscription I don’t mind paying. It’s more then Netflix, and I use 1Password more often.

That’s your opinion. A few people already said they like it. I like it and I’m happy with it.

Not a bad point. I currently have no Bookmarks. I'm guessing this beta did something to them. Luckily I learned over the years to periodically export them for a backup.

This is nonsense. Please provide some kind of basis for your claims of insecurity. There is no "centralised database" of passwords.
