Safari has yet to crash

Safari really is fixed on the iPhone. Heavy use tonight and no crashes. Even Apples own user forums didn't crash the iPhone. Finally surfing with the iPhone is a fun and useful again.

Anyone else experiencing MORE bugs now?

• My syncing is now hanging up on Mail Accounts every other time I plug it in.
• When I put the iPhone on Silent it gives the icon and then buzzes, then minutes later it buzzes again for no reason. I've checked Mail and other apps that would give a buzz for notification but nothing.
• Sound effects drop out for no reason.
• Mobile Me mail updates is intermittent to "Push" compared to before.

These are almost as annoying as the keyboard lag from 2.0.

I've noticed that MobileMe email isn't as fast.

A few more changes in 2.2.1

I'm not sure if anybody has posted these yet:

But I believe these are new to 2.2.1:

When deleting voicemails a new folder is created called deleted messages.

Also: Text Messages: are all now date stamped instead of just knowing when the last message was sent.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe these are new to this firmware.

Just a little advice from a newbie

DO NOT PUT YOUR iPhone IN AIRPLANE MODE OR LEAVE IT LOCKED BEFORE YOU UPDATE!!!111!!!

i put my iPhone in Airplane mode so that no one would call and interrupt the update, not realizing that when the iPhone goes into recovery mode, this is not possible anyway. Also, I recently started locking my iPhone to protect my privacy.

Yes, i know it was dumb to do all that before an update, and I probably skipped that part of the warning in the fine print, but just in case anyone does it, here's a little advice:

1.) First, after the update is complete, you may get a warning from iTunes that says something like "because the iPhone is locked, it may not be able to reconnect to iTunes" However, the warning does not say how to resolve this.

2.) You may also get a message that says SIM Card cannot be found or is not correct.

3.) Don't Panic. Just disconnect the iPhone from you computer and try to make emergency call (you actually have to try and make an emergency call).

4.) When you do this, the phone will tell you that Airplane Mode is enabled and will ask you if you want to disable it in order to make the call. Click "Yes"!

5.) Next, for some reason, it will give you a chance to enter your passcode, and you'll be taken to your normal iPhone desktop.

6.) Hopefully, at this point, the iPhone will obtain a signal and declare that it is activated. Then, everything should be back to normal. At least, everything is back to normal for me so far. ;)

OK, now that I've finished my newbie rant, all the experienced Apple Fans can feel free to flame away at me :D

The deleted messages folder has been in for some time, but there do seem to be more text message timestamps after the update.

I know at least the deleted voicemail message folder is not new. That has been there since 2.1. I don't know about the date stamping of all texts though.

A new feature or old news?

I've never noticed this working before, but last night I did. I was in the iPod part of my phone and was going to listen to a podcast under the podcast tab. I accidentally chose a video podcast that was listed under it. Oddly enough, it started to play the video. It even started to play with the phone in portrait mode (you can rotate the phone and it switches to landscape). Before, it would only play the audio from the video podcast.

I started a video podcast and locked the phone to see if the audio continued to play. It didn't, but I used the double tap of the home button to bring up the ipod controls from the locked screen and you could play the audio that way.

Is this new, or am I just now finding this out? Sorry to waste time if it isn't new.

No calendar fix

I was hoping that the colour issue would be fixed on this update... No such luck!

I'm not sure if this was discussed or not but I've noticed that since I did the 2.2.1 update while the phone is sleeping the signal will sporatically drop out until I wake it up. I noticed last night it dropped out for most likely 40 minutes. Also a couple times I'd go to wake up the phone and the no battery icon would pop up even though i had 1/4 to 1/2 of the battery left. For reference this is happening at my college in Central NY where the closest 3G is about an hour north so I'm well and truely in edge coverage if that helps any.

Has anyone else experienced these issues??

Thanks

Tried to update my 3g and once again it failed and wont restore tried 3 different computers and everytime it loads the update and restarts the phone but it gose right back to the connect to itunes screen.I have this problem everytime they come out with a new update. Looks like it back to the apple store for me.

This came in an update 2.0 or just thereafter, but previous to this 2.2.1.

BTW: If you put music videos in a playlist with non-video normal music, it will switch back-n-forth from iPod music play to video play. While playing videos, you can portrait/landscape. It gets even better using the original iPhone dock vs the Universal Docks with the video output. I have mine hooked to a Universal Dock in my truck and a 8" screen. Wild.

my txt message do not show date stamp on all. how it has always worked is if you txt within 5 minutes of the previous, you don't get a stamp.

Am I right in saying that this update now wipes the google search bar in safari when you clear history?

I have yet to upgrade, so I took a quick look at my text messages, and all are time and date stamped.

Jude, try checking an sms sent/received within 5 mins and they will NOT be timestamped. This is unfortunate :(
