Um..I don't see what your problem is, but here's my best answer.

Things like the name "itouch" usually don't have a definitive reason for their existence. As an example, the word "kleenex." People frequently use this word to mean any sort of facial tissue, even though it really is only one brand.

Alternatively, it could have something to do with it's relative newness. When the Ipod Nano first came out, it was a rather unique name. If you said: "Hey, I just got that new nano thing!" People knew what you were talking about. But "touch" is a more ubiquitous word. Not everyone knows about it yet.

Hope that helped.

i don't know , I'm just giving you s**t for no real reason , sorry

I call it a Nano. Is that okay with you?

if it wasn't would it really matter anyway , you can call it a clownfart if you want , my initial comment was a joke because of the thread a while back about that guy freaking out because of people calling the Ipod Touch an Itouch

no big deal

Wait

wait for two months while you use your other touch and enjoy it

then, after two months (if apple haven't followed it up, which i doubt they will as the cost of finding it outweighs the cost of making another one) it's safely yours

from apple's point of view, it's a damaged good...so just keep it and good luck to you:)

keep it. christmas is comming, itll make someone happy.

it happened to me with an intake i bought for my car
i ordered 1
they mailed 2
waited a couple weeks, they didnt contact me
i sold it
never had a problem

Well a while ago my friend got sent an xbox (am i allowed to mention any microsoft products on here:rolleyes: lol only jokin) but he also recieved two controllers, two scart leads, two plugs, two xbox's, and he just sold the other set of stuff on ebay. Up to you though:).

why are some of you telling him/her to keep the extra one? because it won't be discovered? because s/he won't be rewarded if s/he returns it? these are irrelevant considerations. it doesn't belong to him/her and should be returned.

it's comments like this that help me retain my faith in humanity. Sananda is completely right , thank you

I'd call up apple because I'd be worried about being charged for it...

Once I called to get support from my iMac and on the phone they were like "OK, we see here you have apple care" and I'm like what?!??! I never bought no applecare! And then she's like are you sure? And I'm like yeah, I'm positive. And then she realized the person who activated it typed in the SN for my computer by accident (probably messed up one number or something) - so the person who paid for apple care never actually got it. They fixed it though.

I'd call them, and they'll probably reward you because of your honestly. Especially if you have to go through the trouble of sending it back. Even if they reward you, they're still up.

Oh and BTW it's "iPod touch" and not "iTouch or ITouch" lol.

i say keep it and you get an even better reward, an iPod touch or atleast the price of an iPod touch. i actually had a dream the other day that i ordered an iPod touch and i recieved an iPhone. I live in australia so i was like "this is awesome"!!!!

and ipod touch. it's called an abbreviation.

And yeah, good side v. bad side. I'm going to send it back, but i'm kind of hoping that they'll give me some sort of bonus for honesty :p

According to US law, you don't have to pay for anything sent unsolicited. You don't have to send it back, either.

I don't know, I might call them, though.

Keep it. I cant believe anyone would even consider sending it back. If your gonna send it back ill give you 50 bucks to ship it to my house.

And to the people who were arguing I think it should be called touch not itouch just like how people call them shuffle, nano, video.

I think legally you can't ever be billed for erroneously shipped items...remember hearing about that once. So I doubt you'd ever be charged for it, though it might be requested back.

But I can't see any ethical justification for keeping the extra iPod. I think it's on par with keeping an iPod left in a rental car or a wallet you find on the street. You may not have set out to steal, but you're taking something that clearly belongs to someone else (even if you don't know to whom).

And I think getting a reward is similarly on par to rewards for returning a found item. You might, and it'd be a nice gesture, but it's certainly not required (and hopefully not your only motivation).

Although if I knew the guy that left it in the cab was a freaking multi-Billionaire, I wouldn't have many qualms about keeping it. Listen, if you return it to apple, no one will care or notice, they will sell it as a refurb and thats it, end of story. Now, keeping it and selling it for profit would be wrong. I would give it to someone that otherwise cannot afford it and whom you KNOW would appreciate it. Consider it a 4 leaf clover. You will get good karma, and nobody will be getting hurt, not even apple really, lets be real. :apple::apple::apple::apple:

Hmm, I don't think I buy the argument that the wealth of the individual or company it belongs to changes the moral argument. And I'm not so sure about this apparent "rob from the rich and give to the poor" Robin Hood approach of paying it forward either. Just because it proportionately "hurts" Apple less than it would an individual suffering the cost of $400 doesn't make it any less impactful in absolute terms, does it?

Yes I agree with the last post. Don't send it back to Apple (look how rich they are in the first place, they don't need it, and they are polly gonna sell it as a refurb anyways) You might as well find someone who really needs it (don't open it) and give it to them, if they have the screen problem, then they can deal with it, cuz stuff happens, it's a free ipod!

do you think it cost apple 400 to make?

doubtful... and how much will they make on itunes purchases on the ipod? possibly accessories? future apple purchases based on customer satisfaction???? little jimmy shows all his friends his new free ipod touch and they all neeeed one now??? c'mon:p

I wouldn't count on any "bonus" They're a multi-billion dollar corporation. The gain to you is much much higher than their lost to them. It would be like an average person losing a dollar (its no big deal)..Just keep it..or give it to someone as a gift.

Also, how do you know they shipped 2 ipod touches? Maybe you read it wrong?

The evil side in me would suggest you do what someone said earlier, and sell it on ebay. That way, you'll get a fair bit of money for it, and if :apple: ever decide to charge you for the 2nd one, you'll have paid for it already.

I say like it has been said before...
keep it, then just give it away to a family member or a friend that you know wants one...
make them real happy
makes u feel warm and fuzzy
:)

and as for apple, steve jobs wont care if he lost 400 dollars,
he just made another grand by reading this..
:p

If you're based in the UK - I would suggest you email me your whereabouts, I'd drive over to you ASAP - we'd exchange it (assuming it's 16Gb) for the shop price.

You then keep that money in a high interest savings account for 6 months and earn interest on it.

If Apple call you within a month, you have the money at hand and the knowledge you've helped out a fellow Touch fanboy. If they call you within the 6 months, you have the money plus some interest left for you to buy yourself a treat with.

If they never call you, you've got £270 gratis + interest.
