Once I called to get support from my iMac and on the phone they were like "OK, we see here you have apple care" and I'm like what?!??! I never bought no applecare! And then she's like are you sure? And I'm like yeah, I'm positive. And then she realized the person who activated it typed in the SN for my computer by accident (probably messed up one number or something) - so the person who paid for apple care never actually got it. They fixed it though.

I bought a macbook for my sister off ebay with applecare.. it ended up having some issues and sending it in for repair was a nightmare because the applecare was registered to the wrong serial number! one number off.. and it took a month, four phone calls, and three tiers of cs techs to fix the problem.

wet it till of stops working and then dry it. Then return it to apple. I did that with me 1G nano. I got a replacement. No questions asked. What have I got to lose?
