Fact is todays CPU's can do anything & everything, im not even concerned about its cpu anymore.

Yeah, same here actually, and I do pretty CPU intensive tasks. My MB C2D 2.0GHz is plenty fast, and I rarely run out of CPU even when mixing pretty large projects with lots of plugins.
Sure, a little more speed would be useful sometimes. But I'd not have it at the expense of for example a louder cooling system.

I think this is largely due to the redesign element in the iMac. The Notebooks have not been neglected. The Mac Pro update is likely waiting until the Intel Price Drop comes in.

Those are my guesses anyway.

In regards to the iMac, I am hoping that they opt for an option to include the Intel Core 2 Quad in the 24" iMac. That would be awesome.

The notebooks haven't been fully neglected, but they have been somewhat neglected. The mbp update should have happened three weeks before it did, and the mb update was a bit underwhelming.
As for the iMac, I believe that Apple is probably working on their next great design, but what about the Mini? That has pretty much been left in the dust don't you think?
The Mac Pro will probably see more stuff as Intel cuts prices, and current Mac Pro components will probably make their way into the current iMac, like you said in your post.

i really want an iMac now (but after the update).

My prediction is that they will see their update July 24th. That is because the free printer promo and the $30 off .Mac promo both end the 23rd, which happens to be a monday. Hmmmmm... Mabey they're trying to get rid of inventory with promos and then right when they end they will update their most popular desktop.

Right now I have $1700 saved up and i am getting a 24 inch. But my parents are willing to lend me a couple hundred dollars if i dont make the price.

Well, lets all cross our fingers for the 24th!!:)

Common Apple! :apple:

Damn... I hate you. My parents wont lend me anything, they will only pay for tax since being under 18 and not a true citizen isn't really fair since I can't vote.

I'm pretty excited about this new iMac. I can't wait to see it. I'm kinda ready for a new iMac as well, so I want this new gen to be released so I can skip the first cycle.

300 days since upgrade...:(

If they are releasing a major update (new design etc) shouldn't they announce it at a special event?

I got a MBP to calm my nerves - but I've been waiting for a revisioned iMac for so long I will probably wait until october so that I get leopard at the same time.

Somebody mooted that they would revise the existing one internally in a few weeks and save the new one, dubbed 'iMac Pro' for Leopard.

I think, either this Tuesday or next we will see a revised imac consisting of bumped specs, and a revised imac case for the higher end when Leopard is released.

just before the MBP update

what was MBP availability like just before they got updated?

amazon uk have 1 in stock of 20 and 24" respectively, macwarehouse completely out of stock of 20 and 24", comet out of stock on 17" and 24", ebuyer out of stock for both 17 inch and 20 inch,

still ready to despatch within 24 hrs on apple store though, only thing causing any sort of major delay is the 750gb hard disk.

but correct me if im wrong wasnt the MBP still at 24 hrs ready to ship before it was updated on june 5th?

Entry level Mac

Whateve Apple does with the iMac, it still needs and entry level machines for schools and my Mom and Auntie.
If they wouldn't walk off, schools could make do with MacBooks, but a week into their adoption half the laptops would be missing.

Why have so many of you been speculating on when the new iMac will be released (such as next Tuesday)? Didn't you read the initial story? It says, "sometime between the latter half of July and mid-August."

Hold tight until then.

Imac references found in Leopard.

I was wondering if the Imac references found in the Leopard beta suggest that the new Imacs must already be done or could the references still be there without a completed redesign.

yes i am very sure that it will be released in July 24th. My reason is that the printer promo and the .Mac promo both end on the 23rd.

Because they're becoming scarce! Does Apple really want to only want to sell their computers from their own website for 3 or 4 weeks? If resellers can't get hold of stock, there better be a solution to it in the near future.

Usually 10 days

On macwarehouse the iMac 20" is not in stock any more. That's no news, but since today the delivery date for this mac says now [usually 10 days], yesterday this was [usually 2 days] ...

does this mean dat the new imac will be introduced on 13 july? Or is this again whisfull thinking?

still waiting... waiting... waiting... :apple:

that information would actually say that it would be released the 10th for some reasons

1. apple only releases things on tuesdays unless at a special event.
2. after the release then it will take some time for macwarehouse the ship them out.

Common next tuesday (Like thats never been said before:) )
