Uh, have you actually watched any of the Sox games this year? I swear, half of those wins were by sheer luck. And of course, Wakey has no luck. 9 innings, 1 ER, 12 SO, and he STILL can't win :(
Well they were playing well but now the AL East is up for grabs. Looks like Schilling last years hero might be this years reason for missing the playoffs.

These last 2 weeks could turn out to be the best ever as everything might come down to the last weekend of the season. Cleveland looks unstoppable but I think Chicago will have a little bit left to give the Indians. The Yankees play a big series with the Orioles a team that has fallen off the second half as the Red Sox play the Devil Rays who has started to heat up. Oakland may give the Angels the biggest upset if they can overtake the AL West.

MLB Standings on August 1st show the Indians back by 15 games. As of today they are 3 1/2 back of the White Sox. Quite a run  Their upcoming series should be a good one.

The Indians will win the division.

Go Tribe!

Our starting rotation is the best it's been in years, and our whole batting order is a threat. Belliard might miss some of the series with Chicago though...

I don't see Chicago going without a fight tho, I would hope that after the season the White Sox had they wont go quietly and will make the Indians work for it.

As long as one of them stays ahead of the Yankees for the wild card ;)

Ditto. :D

I don't think that we'll steamroll the 'Sox, but the Tribe are definitely capable of taking the series, and competing in the postseason.

Indians win. :)

Well, it was a hard-fought game, but the bullpen was tight as usual. This could be a nail-biter series though.

I hope Boston takes the East...

Strolls on over to take a look at the current AL east standings.... :D :D :D

Congratulations, their first day as division leader. Baby steps... Too bad it won't last.

actually its the 3rd or 4th. Started out the season in 1st, then again about mid way through the season lead for a day or so. All that matters is where you end up on the last day. And that WILL be first place.

i went to the braves game last night
the seats were great 3 rows up right above the phillies dugout the game was good to it went into the 10th inning and ryan howard won it with a grand slam i would be mad that the phils won but i want them to win the wild card so the braves will face an nlwest team in the first round of the playoffs

You and I and about 95% of baseball fans! Unfortunately, we don't get to vote on this and it's looking like they may just take the division. Those last games against Boston are going to be huge.

Meanwhile, I'm just hoping the upcoming games of my Giants vs. the Padres aren't meaningless. So far - so good, but Barry rests his knee today and Washington is desperate to stay alive.

Bigger than Huge. But God I hope Boston pulls through. ;)

Well, the Indians took 2 out of 3 from the White Sox, and the way they played during the series makes me believe that they can take the central division away from Chicago as long as they don't do something stupid like lose to the Royals...Even though they lost on Tuesday it was close and they got 5 runs off Buehrle (and the walk-off dinger came off Riske, not go-to guy Wickman), so I'm confident that we have what it takes.

Anyway I think we'll take the wild card worst-case, so overall this has been a very good season for the Tribe.

My guess is that Boston gets their act together and the season comes down to next week in the fens with either team 1 game ahead in the race. The first two games are a split between the yanks and the sox, last game being the deciding one.

Die hard sox fan, still not worried.

I think the AL Central will have quite the battle for the next few years. Especially if the Cleveland front office can hang on to some of those better players, and find someone to take Wickman's place should he retire (although he'll probably retire when Clemens does  )

With so few games left, it's pretty annoying that the Sox game will probably be rained out tonight.

Everyone get your ponchos cause there is gonna be a lot of sweating this week. ;)
