'Skins are in!

It was ugly, but I'll take it. It's games like these that Washington wasn't able to battle thru a win in the middle of the season (like against Tampa or Oakland). Brunell was off most of the game because of his knee and hopefully he'll be playing better next week 'cause TB's secondary will definitely make him pay for inaccurate passes. Speaking of the secondary I hope the 'Skins can get healthy 'cause only 1 of our starting corners finished the game.

Good adjustments by the D in the 2nd half. First half Philly was moving the ball almost at will, but the D stepped up and helped out the not-doing-so hot 'Skins offense.

The game against Tampa should be a good one and it's very winnable for Washington (assuming our secondary is healthy). The 'Skins are a better team now than when we played TB in the middle of the season.

Last but not least, Sean Taylor is a beast. He's big, fast, and wants to de-cleat every guy he hits.

Hail to the Redskins! All skins fans rejoice. First playoff in 5 years. Gotta love Gibbs.

Skins Bucks next week. Should be a repeat of their first encounter. High score and close, but hopefully the Skins will prevail this time.

Surprising allot of Redskin fans here. Im originally from DC and moved to New York in the late 80s. Still a skins fan to this day. Hate the Giants and hate the Yankees even more, but thats another thread altogether. Other DC transplants or do you guys have your own reasons to root for the skins?

I was born in D.C. and moved when I was like 2 (Army Brat), but when I got old enough to enjoy watching football w/my Dad I figured I needed to pick a favorite team and picking the team from the city I was born in seemed like a good place to start. :)

I've been a 'Skins fan since I was 7 or 8 ('85 or '86).

Well, Carolina is kicking the Falcons' ass... 27-3 at halftime. So I think it's safe to say that the Cowgirls are done.

Now, all I want for Christmas (retroactive gift) is for the Panthers to win today AND for the Saints to step up in their role as perennial spoilers and beat the freaking Bucs. That would let Carolina win the NFC South.

COWGIRLS are done, carolina is in...redskins are in...steelers are in

now we have the full picture

dallas did better this year than some other previous years and though they got close, they did not make the top six seeds in the nfc but it was by no means a losing season

So -

Most likely wild card team to upset a division winner this weekend? Most likely wild card team to make it to the super bowl?

I think the Steelers & Skins make it past their opponents. I can't imagine Jacksonville beating NE right now - though I'd love it - and the Carolina-NYG game should be a good one, I'd be thanking my lucky stars if I was another NFC team that one of these two will be taken out early. If Carolina makes it past the Giants and the Skins win, Carolina has a real chance to make it to the big game, because then they'd go to Chicago, which is a winnable game, and finally have either the Skins at home or go to Seattle. The Steelers and Skins, the other wild card teams that have a chance, have a much harder route to get to the super bowl. If you're the Skins, you have to beat Tampa Bay and Seattle on the road just to get to the conference championship, which will be another road game. If you're the Steelers, it's the Bengals and then go to Indy and then, in all probability, Foxboro.

Although highly unlikely, wouldn't a Bears vs. Pats Superbowl be funny? Twenty years later the same teams meet again...

Steelers are the Wild Card team with the best chance to win. They should dominate the Bengals this weekend...with the Steelers running game in place it's hard to beat them. Bengals rely too much on Chad to make big plays, their defense is not powerful enough to stop the Steelers solid running game.

The real question is which team will play the Seahawks in the Super Bowl?

The Steelers won't dominate the Bengals this week, I'm not saying they won't win, but it isn't going to be a blowout by any means. The Bengals dont the division over t he Steelers, didn't they? They don't rely on Chad to make big plays either, he only scored 9 out of the Bengals's 47 TD's. Do some research before making bogus comments.

FWIW I ****ing hate the Steelers and the Bengals.

Also, I think the Bears and the Giants have a good chance to beat the Seahawks.

Only funny if the outcome is the same

i probably agree with you on that one

But not Ha-Ha funny. Maybe if the fridge came out of retirement and was used to score a touchdown rather than the ghost of Walter Payton.

i know :)

most mods are cool, except for, well, i won't mention their names right now, he he, but anyway, i kind of miss spikey and alphatech from the old days

well one thing is for sure...now with the 49ers win, san francisco won't get any of the top four heisman nominated people...but does stand a chance if univ. of texas qb does decide to go in and would be put in the vicinity of pick 5-10 or so...but sf and oakland here don't need the qb as much as some strength on their lines, especially sf...but that is a different thread that should be named, "sf 49ers become high school team" or something to that effect

Interesting first wildcard game... the Buccs threw it away on errors since the Redskins didn't do much offensively. 124 yards total! Eeesh!

I felt so sorry for Edell Shepherd when he couldn't keep hold of that ball - he was one of my (and friends) adopted players while he was in Scotland and a nicer guy you could never hope to meet.

However, unless some of those Redskins can heal fast, I can't see them being much of a threat to the Seahawks next week. Although the last team to win with low yardage were the Ravens who went on to win the Superbowl so who knows!

Man, that was a tense game. Wynn went down w/a broken arm, Frost (punter) went down after a hell of a tackle, Harris went down, Portis is banged up (thank god Betts is a solid back up), Taylor and his stupid, stupid personal foul. Not to mention the late game pick Burnell tossed and the shanked punt. When Simms was picked off again I was more relieved than happy.

The 'Skins D was just awesome. They stuffed the run and put all the pressure on Simms to win it for the Bucs. And Simms played a really good game their terrible first quarter though just killed them.

Springs should be back next week and I hope Taylor doesn't get suspended for next week's game.

Whew. I think I need to take a nap after watching that game.

Well, I hope the Redskins are able to defeat the Seahawks next weekend... because if they do, and if the Panthers are able to take care of business in New York and Chicago, we'll be having the NFC Championship game here in Charlotte... and I've got two tickets. :)

The 'skins bucs game was all D on both sides. Which doesn't bode well for Washington next week - they need more than 120-odd yds offense if they are going to stay alive. I think the Seahawks will take them apart though.

Shepard dropping that pass was a real heartbreaker - Simms could not have thrown a better ball.

Taylor won't be suspended, just fined. Though he should be suspended. If he can't take a little smack talk without spitting on people he's about as mature as.......your NFL player.

I hate both the Bengals and Steelers, but I hate the Steelers more. So go Bengals. yay. Probably a high scoring game.

I will be rooting for Chicago whoever they face.

If it happens I hope you won't be sitting the the black & teal losers section. ;)

For those that saw the game, have any of you seen a punter turn on his jets like Frost did to save a touchdown? I mean, he actually pushed another pursuing Redskin out of the way so he could get to the ball carrier. I just dig it when kickers and punters decide to lay the smack down on return guys. Frost had this, "Oh, hell no! You aren't returning *my* punt for a TD" look in his eye. :D

I was dissapointed in Tampa Bay, i expected them to win. I am however happy that NE is obliterating JAX so far :)

I dont think the skins have a chance in hell at beating Seattle, and I personally think we will see Seattle in the big dance.

I agree the O needs to do more, but the 'Hawks' D (especially the secondary) isn't what TB's D is. The 'Skins have a great D and an adequate O. I think the Seahawk's D is the big question mark. Can Seattle contain Moss and Coley w/o getting gashed by Portis or Betts? 'Cause when healthy I the 'Skins D is one of the toughest in the league (against both the run and the pass). New York, Dallas, TB... They all had hot offensives going into their games w/Washington and they all pretty much got shutdown by the 'Skins D. Seattle is gonna be tough, and I think both sides of the ball will make plays, but I also think Seattle's D is gonna have to step up and be dominant in order for Seattle to beat Washington.

This just gives me another week to enjoy some skins football and Gibbs coaching. like I said before, from here on out its all bonus games for the skins. I never even expected them to be here. Will they make it to the SB? I doubt it but I'm certainly going to enjoy the ride wherever it goes.;)
