You wanna change your prediction?

Maybe... although with that 65 yard pass going down the sideline my original thoughts weren't too far off. It's going to be tough without Palmer although Kitna is a good backup. The problem is that while he can manage the game well and shouldn't make too many mistakes; he was INT prone in his earlier year, he doesn't have the arm strength that Palmer does so there won't be as much of Johnson and Housh trying to stretch the field.

Still... with this bad luck going for them, I'm rooting for Bengals now. I'm almost tempted to go hunt out my Terrible Towel since everytime I've got it out, the Steelers have lost :p

Pittsburgh just scored to make it 27-17 and from the looks of the Bengals on the sidelines; they've lost faith in themselves and Lewis is going to have a job on his hands convincing them not to just mail it in.

Incidentally, I wish Roethlisberger would get a shave and a haircut; he looks like a derelict...

I knew it!

Looks like there's gonna be some good AFC divisional games.

Steelers at Colts

Patriots at Broncos

Still think it might have been different had Palmer not got injured...:p but that's football (I was going to say that them's the breaks and then figured it might be bad taste)

The games next week should be good ones in both NFC and AFC... this week's just didn't live up to expectations really.

my guess is that the colts will blow out the steelers in a very lopsided game...not what i want to see but what i expect

the broncos will face tough defensive opposition and score low, but still beat the patriots...i don't see the patriots getting blown out though

i would have loved to see colts vs the broncos, and the steelers vs the patriots...much more evenly matched and guarantee for a close game

If the Colts somehow lose to the Steelers, they will forever be branded as the team that just can't get it together in the playoffs.

The Patriots/Broncos game should be a good one... they're both good teams, and the cold temps in Denver shouldn't affect either team too much. I'll give the edge to the Broncs, though. Then the Colts SHOULD be able to take care of the Broncos in Indy.

On the NFC side: Anything's possible, although the odds of Carolina beating Chicago are better than Washington's chances of being Seattle.

I'm really looking forward to the Pats/Broncos game, I think it will be good. But the Pats are starting to smell another bowl so I'm giving them the edge in a close game.

The Colts will take the Steelers apart.

i think washington doesn't stand a chance against the seahawks, but i really think carolina vs. bears could be very interesting, close, and decided in the 4th quarter...and it may be the only interesting and worthwhile game to watch that weekend

i may watch a quarter of the washington vs. seahawks game, but it may be more interesting to shave my belly button...same with colts-steelers game

i may stand two quarters of patriots-broncos game but if broncos are up by 10-14 points at halftime, then i will do something else more interesting like wax the kitchen floor

IMO the Colts have to win the SB to not be branded as chokers. They've been a strong team the past 2 seasons and totally dominated this past regular season. Anything less than a ring and they'll probably be the greatest team not to win a SB in NFL history.

That's really too bad for Palmer. Hopefully he'll rehab and Cincy will be strong again next year. I'm not really a Cincy fan, but I'd feel bad for them if this one incident crumbles what they've tried so hard to build.

I really dislike the Buccs (combinations of events and various fans) and wanted the Skins to win but I was convinced the Buccs were about to start pushing the Skins around in the 4th quarter and was amazed they held on.
After Taylor got ejected and it was getting into the bottom half of the 4rth I figured the 'Skins D would be getting tired too, but they held their ground.

That award belongs to the 01 Rams, although, the 05 Colts are very similar to that team. (both 14-2, awesome offense AND defense)

People who underestimate the Panthers usually find out their mistake the hard way. :)

I was very glad to see the Panthers win. While the New Jersey Giants did not strike me as a playoff ready team, it turned out to be an embarrassing train wreck.

Six more days til the game at Invesco!!!!!

I can't wait to go!!!!

I'm already jumping off the walls!!!

:D :D :D

For those that saw the game, have any of you seen a punter turn on his jets like Frost did to save a touchdown?
The interesting thing to me is that punters seem to really work their upper bodies alot - I can't remember who it was, but there was one punter who led the team in bench pressing. It seems so superfluous, but I guess it comes in handy when you are the smallest guy against an onslaught of blockers.

The Jags set themselves up to fail. Of course, my Pats would have taken them down anyway, but they certainly didn't have to help themselves loose. I will elaborate if anyone cares.

Congrats to the Skins and the Skins fans.

The Bungles.. I really hoped they'd take down the Steelers, as I'm very sick of seeing/meeting the Stelers in the playoffs. But they were done in early by injury. Bad break.

The Giants.. wow. Egg'd. Congrats to the Panthers. Good luck in Chi-Town.

what if the weakest record going into the playoffs, at 10-6, on the afc side actually works all the games like this and threepeats?
Well, if they win this year then clearly Belichick gets coach of the year. I'm surprised other teams haven't been trying to woo him away, especially those teams that haven't had a winner in years and have alot of money.

That said, I'm going to root like hell against them. I think it's possible they could beat Denver in Denver, but unlikely. Jacksonville got thrown off their game because of some bad bounces early. I don't see that happening to Denver. I think their offense will have its way with NE's undermanned D. If they do manage to win that game, in all probability they'd have to go to Indy, where they'd have almost no chance. Of course, if Pittsburgh beats Indy then that would possibly setup Pittsburgh going to NE for the AFC championship, which could be some nice sweet revenge for the Steelers....

Well to be fair, they usually slag off Chicago's defense as well. I agree, after reading your summary, that it seems odd but I think those 'worst offensive stats ever' were the headline for most. Brunell and co just looked completely anaemic out there... which is even more reason to give respect to the D
It'd be fun if Chicago & Washington managed to win, and your NFC championship game featured 2 anemic offenses and 2 stout defenses - could be around 200 yards combined offense, final score 3-2.

Couple bad injuries that game - the Steelers lost Quincy Morgan and James Harrison, probably both for the year. That's a huge blow to the special teams.

Carson Palmer, that's really a shame. You could see Kimo felt awful about it, he clearly didn't want to hurt him.

As far as altering the outcome, the Bengals lost because their defense gave up 31 points (and could've been much higher), not because of the offense. Kitna is not a bad quarterback, and has had some of his biggest games against the Steelers. Let's not forget, he had a very very strong year before his job was just handed to Carson Palmer. Assuming Palmer comes back and Cinci doesn't pursue Kitna, he'll be a starter somewhere next year.

If rex plays and stays up ... the bears offense might be less anemic. It won't turn into the colts but less anemic for sure.

Well, I'm sick of the Pats being in the playoffs, i'm sick of Tom Brady, Belicheck (sp?) and just the whole NE team...I wish they would just break the team up and go back to being average...

That being said, look for the Steelers to bring something special to Indy..

The Colts choke just as much as the Steelers in the Playoffs..and if the Steelers can somehow build a lead, they can make it very tough for the Colts..

Maybe someone will snap Manning's leg as well....not that the Steelers play any dirtier than any other team, (Ie Jax and Balt) but that we come to hit, and hit some more...

So, the Colts better watch out for that.

Really? I thought you'd be sick of the Steelers loosing in the playoffs. :p :D

I don't see Pittsburgh getting past Indy, so who will knock out the Colts in the AFC Championship game - Denver or the Pats? Will be interesting to see... I also see a Bears Seahawks match-up as well.
