The officiating is still under considerable criticism..

Do we know who is officiating yet? I like Ed Hochuli - particularly how he explains the more obscure calls so that you actually know why they threw the flag. (Actually, the only ones I groan at are Jeff Triplette, Phil Luckett - is he still officiating? - and, post Colts/Steelers, Pete Morelli). I've shared a breakfast table with several of the officials while in NFL Europe over the years and it's fascinating to talk with them.

Red Sox vs. Yankees, 2004 ALCS, Game 4 (and 5), bottom of the 9th, then bottom of the 10th (or 12th for game 5). I wasn't there, but I felt it.

By far the best sports moment at any time in my life. I was 3200 miles away and I still felt like I was there. I've been to quite a few games, but that set has to go down in history as one of the best ever. That entire week I was up and down by the pitch.

I'm about 40 miles from Fenway, and I'm pretty sure I heard it. ;)

I love that song that the NFL Network are starting NFL Total Access with

Lyrics go along the lines of "10% luck, 20% skill, 15% the concentrated power of will, 5% pleasure, 50% pain, 100% reason to remember the name"

what a great song for football! I'm not massively into hiphop but I had to get a copy of this.

Incidentally, how do you guys all plan on spending Super Bowl Sunday? Since the coverage doesn't start over here until 10pm, I've got a normal day (with a long lie in!), then friends and I are heading to a bar/diner in Soho where about 10 of us have booked the 'den' - an archway with a big TV, good speakers, lots of great BBQ food (by a guy who won awards in Kansas City for his BBQ) and good cold beers. The only problem is getting back out of London's centre to home at 4am!

I've got some co-workers and friends coming over. I figure the party will start around 10am and probably roll on in to 10pm. I've got nearly 2 fridges full of beer, a stocked bar and the 55" TV and Surround setup all ready to go for the big game!

Food wise I am doing a huge amount of appetizers and finger foods. Some of the guests are bringing other assorted food and beverages so it should be a fun time.

It will be fun watching Seattle open a can of whoop ass on Pittsburgh.

GO SEATTLE!

Ed

I also took the day after off work to clean up and nurse my hangover

Yes! That seals it. I'll be traveling in to Memphis that afternoon. So I'm gonna find some Memphis BBQ before kickoff, sit back, and pull for Pittsburgh.

I can't wait for the Steelers to win and all the haters to stop hating..

The Seahawks won their games at home cuz the NFC is pathetic, and Qwest field is insane to play at..the Seahawks played good all year in a not-so good NFC.

Look at what the Steelers have done to get to this game..I mean seriously...

this game could be a blow-out IMO...could be very lopsided in the Steelers favor.

Steelers 35

Seahawks 13

LET'S GO BURGH!!

But, if you see some of this, Sunday...

with a 4 point spread, you can make between hundreds of dollars up to tens of thousands on a 22 point win, in vegas or somewhere the internet

i wish you were clairvoyant, because i would put my money on a steelers blowout and buy a mac for every room in my house with that kind of a game

it's most likely going to be close and if bettis has a good day on crucial third downs and if alexander can be contained, then the steelers are going to win

neither qb is as/has been as solid as manning, over even jake plummer, and both the seattle qb and the pittsburgh qb have relied on good playing streaks, so it's going to end up being which team has the better day on the ground since both qb's are probably going to have so-so days

it's possible that one team or the other will have a break out day in the air and largely ignore their running game, but that is extremely unlikely with future hall of famers bettis and alexander healthy and ready to tear up the field

...and for those of you who think seattle will destory pittsburgh, the steeler's solid defense will work on alexander and watch the wide receivers preventing seattle from acquiring a blowout

Except that the Steelers, even though they are the home team, are opting to wear their white away jerseys. Cowher said they've won 7 (or so) straight games in white, so they don't want to change now.

Ya, I noticed that the choice went to the AFC Champs. I like the black, but that's show biz....and a little superstition. Anything for an edge.

Well since we have all had the dream land photos in the posts before i think its time for you all to see what you Steelers fans are really going to see a lot of on Sunday.

Everyone knows the Seahawks are a Microsoft team, owned by Paul Allen and supported by the MS-friendly crowd.

And Apple has one of its software development offices in Pittsburgh.

It's clear that each and every Mac devotee betrays their cause when they root for the Seahawks. Go hang your heads in shame, traitors, because you help undermine our vision for a world without Windows.

Also, the Cardinals' defensive line are going to make Bettis fumble and a Patriot is going to sack Roethlisberger. I wonder if any Seattle players will be on the field.

Well, here you can see the guy who ran out onto the field in a referee's outfit to, we assumed, 'fix' the ball at the start of the second half in Super Bowl XXXVIII, only to strip off to a shiny jockstrap. The white pile lying on top of the logo is the remains of the uniform that he 'velcroed' off himself.

So, if that can happen, people running out in any kind of uniform is possible!
