So, are the 49ers moving to Santa Clara in '08? I havent' been to Candlestick in a long time, but it's considered one of the most run down stadiums, and now talks have shut down for a new one in San Francisco.

No way they're gone by '08...it'll take a lot longer than that to get a new stadium designed and built down there.

I don't really care all that much about where the Niners play, but the Yorks have been jerking everyone around for too many years. It wasn't long ago they were unveiling the design for the new SF stadium, also to be used for the Olympics should SF win for 2016. Nothing substantial has changed, but all of a sudden the site is completely incompatible with a new stadium. You'd think they would have figured that out long ago if things were as bad as they're making them out to be.

I haven't seen any clips (out of country) when Haynesworth pulled the stomp maneuver against Dallas and drew the 5 game suspension. Word is out around Nashville that, though his suspension is up this weekend, he may not be welcomed back at all, to play for TN. I tried getting a picture (from Google) but apparently all the pics have been pulled along with articles? What's up with that? I had to go to a Spanish newspaper site to get a pic. Is there a gag order on this, or something?

We're an hour into the early games and I'm already cursing...

This week I decided not to follow my gut feel (Tennessee, SF, Cleveland, Cincy) since it had been wrong so often... so far all my gut 'upsets' are... and Carson Palmer who I benched in both fantasy leagues, is having a great game. Argh!

Still cursing not playing Palmer when I consider what I ended up picking up to do so... but what a great game to watch (as a neutral) between the Bengals and Chargers.

As for the earlier Niners to Santa Clara - this is the first year since 1997 that I've missed being at Candlestick :( - but it is a dump... garlic fries and Steam beer are good, mind you. My tickets buddy lives in Mountain View so Santa Clara would mean a shorter bus ride... and can you really say that Candlestick Point is 'in' SF? It's still a good bus-ride away.

Favourite NFL stadium? Probably Foxboro - we were there on opening night in the club level seats :p

It's in South SF, and it's Monster Park :D http://www.monsterparksf.com/

I doubt they will move anywhere, i would guess that magically SF will start talks again, its all a bureaucratic game. However if you want to talk rumors i heard that Since more than likely the Kings will move out of Sacramento that there is a huge plot of land begging for a football stadium *wink wink*

No, it's in San Francisco, but I know what AppleSpider means...it's pretty far from the core of the city where anybody goes for anything else.

And who actually calls it "Monster Park?" Everybody I know still calls it "The 'Stick." Just like the Giants playing down there at Pac Bell Park.

Yeah... I know the big hill next door says South SF but I meant exactly what Wild Cowboy said - it's not really in the centre of the city like Ford Field is in Detroit etc.

And I've always called it Candlestick or the 'Stick ever since an immigration officer threatened not to let me into the country if I ever called it anything else. :p That was back when it was 3Com

Hester in to the NFL record books. Funny how close a game it was before the run back.

Stupid Bears

I was all happy that Rex Grossman was having a bad game until that FG return. I still don't know how the heck they manage every time to pull of games like that. Arizona comes to mind too.

Grossman is not a very good QB and every week they win like that he looks like a hero. Michaels mentioned during the broadcast that at the beginning of the season he was considered a contender for MVP. I laughed.

At least my Packers won. That puts 2nd place in the NFC North obtainable with both the Packers and Vikings at .500. That's just pathetically awesome.

Today was the Willie Parker Show...

A nice win for the Steelers. At least were not as bad as AZ.....
None have been as consistenly bad as the football cardinals. Their history is plagued with pitiful play. The 1944 "Carpits" (Chicago Cards-Pittsburgh Steelers merged team) (0-10) shows their consistency. After one game, three players were fined for "inept playing." It's so comforting to see them lose, again and again, and with some creativity to boot. Be it in Chicago, St. Louis or Arizzzzzzona, they lose.

I was reading an article on ESPN.com and the guy was essentially bad-mouthing the Bears as well.

Why is it every time the Bears win an ugly game it's some kind of testament to how poor the competition played, and not to their tenacity? They've had a couple of rough turnover games, but 3 yesterday, given the weather, wasn't too bad.

The Grossman interception wasn't great, but overall I think he played a reasonably good game. MVP? Not a chance, he's still a developing QB, not much more than a rookie in terms of true game experience.

The Colts barely get by a Buffalo team that the Bears whipped 40-7, and nobody's talking about that...

Sour grapes? And because every championship team needs to have some luck on their side... that everyone else will gripe about. The Patriots were jammy b'ds several time - between the Tuck Rule or the Panthers final kick-off in SB38 going out of bounds to give them amazing field position.

You look at the stats on the turnover differentials and the chance of winning with a negative turnover count - and that's where the 'lucky' cry comes in. Of course, some teams give up with adversity and others don't. The Bears traditionally don't so to a certain extent they make their own luck.

But sometimes the ball bounces with you and sometimes it doesn't... but you take what it gives you and run with it.

Recent history is with the Oakland Raiders...actually have more losses than the Cards over the 3 and a half years...and it shows no signs of getting better.

Luck is part of the game.
Point is the Bears do have an easy schedule (Gaints were a hard game) overall. Detroit, Minnesota and Green Bay are just not at the same level and are 6 games right there...Add the 49'ers, Cardinals, Seahawks were a good win, and you are just about at 10 wins right there...

They will get to the playoffs and have home field, but they will have to beat some decent teams at that point whether it be an NFC East rematch with the Giants, Eagles or Cowboys or a Seattle re-match or Carolina or the Saints...there is still games to be played...

Grossman has shown his cards and will need to hold up against a team that can blitz well and score on offense.

Might want to re-check that. The Pack is above the Vikings (thank god for tie breakers) but both are sub .500, 0.444 to be exact. Gotta love the NFC north.... Bears are going to take it, and the other teams may all end up sub .500.

Wasn't keen on those alternate jerseys that the Panthers had on...

Watching the Niners game with my fingers tightly crossed that the first half wasn't a fluke... I have a horrible feeling that they shouldn't have kicked the FG at the end of the half... although I'm entirely unconvinced there was enough evidence to over turn Battle's TD

Ugh, the Saints looked awful today.

Brees throws for 500 yards, and the Saints still lose by two touchdowns. I guess throwing two INTs in the endzone sort of helped the Bengals.

And Colston is hurt.

I feel the season slipping away....

 :(

Please don't tell me you're surprised by this. Isn't this the time of year when the Saints always undergo their annual implosion?

Of course I'm not surprised. I was hopeful that with a good quaterback, (which the Saints haven't had in ages) plus Reggie, plus the surprisingly awesome Colston would usher in a new era of non-chokedom. Foolish.

Ah, well, whatever.

A least your Panthers are looking like they are finally on track. That said, I hope they lose every game for the rest of the season. :D
