As is the major question of any legal case..

TAYLOR CASE MAKES NO SENSE TO US

We continue to ponder the comments of Miami-Dade Police Director Robert Parker regarding the murder of Sean Taylor. And we're more and more troubled by them.

"They were certainly not looking to go there and kill anyone," Parker said of the suspects. "They were expecting a residence that was not occupied. So murder or shooting someone was not their initial motive."

How do we know this? Are the police in Miami suddenly in the business of taking criminal defendants at their word? If that's the case, why no free every inmate in every jail in every state?

After all, they're all innocent. Just ask them.

In this case, what about the evidence that the phone lines were cut before the suspects entered? Some might think that the goal here was to disable any alarm system, but most alarm systems automatically are triggered if/when the phone lines are cut.

Parker, as several readers have observed, sounds more like a defense lawyer than a police officer. Why is Parker presuming that it was merely a robbery gone very bad?

We'll continue to monitor this one. For now, however, there's something about this one that smells bad to us.

You have to take it with a pinch of salt. They were playing the Dolphins after all!

Nice gesture by the Redskins lining up with 10 players on defense on the first play of the game. Pity they lost the game in the end...

I know who we were playing. I work with a big Dolphins fan and we have bet every game for the last 7 years. With both teams so bad this year, our bet was for the loser to wear a paper bag (no name fan) with his teams logo for 5 minutes and allow a pic to be taken.

Yes, very classy move on Washington's part.

The Giants just got screwed with a touchdown pulled off the board after the Bears challenge was counted. Even tho the flag flew late and the play was good in the first place.

edit: doesn't matter as the Giants got the goal back.

I swear, NFL officials are stupid.

Thankfully I'm not watching the Giants game - I loathe the Giants.

Browns @ Arizona on the TV and Buccs@Saints on the Web - and yet they both manage to go to commercial at the same time  Still end up seeing way too much of both Mannings during the ad breaks though.

I love how they try to make Belicheck out to be a 'villian'. Could this guy be any more docile? He does nothing but win games and keep his team humble. And wear an obi-wan outfit.

Maybe its the fact that he looks like he has no soul.

Eli Manning throws like a girl.

I don't know what it is about him (and to a large extent, his brother) but every time I see Eli he reminds me of Forrest Gump.

Maybe it is his forehead, or his blank eyes, or his mouth always open (a "mouth breather" as Colin Cowherd describes hillbillies) or his accent.

Or maybe it's everything. A perfect storm of Manningness.

That's just how he approaches the media. He doesn't like talking to them. Can you blame him?

Read the E-ticket on ESPN about Belichick.

On another note, CATCH THE BALL BENJAMIN.

TOUCHDOWN Heath Evans.

10-10.

Is there a reason why this patriots/ravens game is not being played on tv for people who live in new england?

They don't do that for games on ESPN I don't think. But check Channel 5 (Boston). They'll be doing the Pats-Giants NFL Network game. Possible that they'll have this game tonight, but I doubt it.

Shoot, don't get Boston stations down here. Have they always shown games on ESPN? I thought they were always on one of the basic channels like CBS, NBC, etc.

MNF has been on ESPN for the past 2 seasons.
